4,2 sur 5perfect location, very relaxing
octobre 12, 2010
After being hermetically sealed in a "world class" hotel for the preceding 5 days, my stay at Rutland house was very pleasant. I felt as though I was visiting someone's house rather than being a random traveler. Peter was totally helpful in guiding me toward local sites. The house has a quirky charm. The kitchen was well-stocked with breakfast foods and fruit. If you need matching doilies and faux Victoriana for your B&B experience, this may not be the place for you. If you are looking for a relaxed location from which to explore Boston, you should be very satisfied.

Back in September of 2009, I spent a great week in Boston. I stayed at Rutland Square House and I would stay there again. It's beautiful outside and in. My clean, comfortable room was surprisingly big + well furnished. There was ample room for all my stuff. At the end of a long day bouncing all over "Beantown", it was a perfect base to relax. Rutland Square House is much nicer than a chain hotel and reasonably priced. Peter, the owner was pleasant and helpful. He gave great advice on essential stops and nearby restaurants, as well as a complementary map. Upon my arrival, he even helped me find free, legal on-street parking. The once or twice it had to be moved, Peter took care of that. I am not an early bird, more a night owl, but that was fine, I was able to come and go as I pleased at any time without disturbing anyone. The place, though not huge was large enough that even when it was fairly busy, you hardly knew anyone else was there. Having Free Wireless Internet made it easy for me to continue planning my trip as I went along, with my laptop after I arrived. The other guests from all over the country as well as other continents, whom I ran into, usually at breakfast, also enjoyed their stays. The kitchen was well stocked for breakfast with cold & hot cereals, fruit, and bread for toast, yogurt, etc. The location is also an asset. The mostly residential neighborhood is charming and has several bars and restaurants with a range of foods and prices. You have French Bistro, Thai, Sports Bars, Italian, and more. You're only a short walk from "The T" (Subways). Prudential Center stop is just blocks away. Speaking Prudential Center, listen to Peter about the view, from up there you get a spectacular view of Boston by day or night! Another nice thing is that if you are driving as I did, you are only a few miles from the "Massachusetts Turnpike or "Mass Pike". Hope this helps anyone planning a unique and affordable trip to Boston.

Some quaint features to this conveniently located brownstone including rickety door handles and locks, cracked basins, waterless composting toilets, non-suite bathrooms and gloomy interior lighting.
4,4 sur 5Beautiful property!

Beautiful property! Quiet, and in the lovely South End neighborhood. Breakfast is self-serve, so if you prefer B&Bs with home-cooked meals, this may not be for you. Otherwise, I have no complaints, and really enjoyed my experience.

4,2 out of 5Wonderful stay at the Rutland Square House.

My husband and I had never been to Boston and found the Rutland House Bed and Breakfast online. We loved it! Our plane arrived in Boston at 5:30 am and checked in at B&B at 6:30am. Not many places let you check in that early. The house is huge and gorgeous! It was warm and cozy. It is located not too far away from the T station which takes you anywhere you want to go in Boston. The bed was comfy. The breakfast consisted of cereal, english muffins, coffee and juice. We brought oatmeal packets and made our own instant oatmeal from the kettle. The owner was really nice and kept to himself, so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The rooms are cute and artsy. We would definitely come back and stay here again!
