4,6 sur 5The perfect place for peace, beauty, and relaxation
septembre 11, 2010
We did not know what to really expect when we made our reservations. As it turned out, it was just what we were looking for. We were astounded by the beauty of the lake as we came in at sunset when it was bathed in orange and we could hear the loons singing to us. The rooms were simple but nice. However, we spent little time there as we explored the region. Gina, the innkeeper, was most helpful in suggesting places to see and restaurants at which to eat. The inn had kayaks and canoes which we used to our full advantage exploring the lake. One day we went to the salmon fish hatchery across the lake and went on a hike. Another day, Gina suggested a local guide for a half day fishing trip on the lake. He had the Maine dialect in full doses and was very entertaining and helpful. We caught 15 bass. Because it was central to so many places on given days we went as far south as Rockport and as far north as Bar Harbor and had plenty of time to stay and enjoy the local flavor. What a memorable trip!! We would go back in heart beat. Scott and Jeanne from Colorado

The first thing we noticed as we arrived was the quiet natural beauty of the grounds, surrounding woods and the lake. The innkeeper was friendly and helpful, allowing us our privacy while responding quickly to our requests and questions. We had free access to the lake via the kayaks. The room was comfortable and well equipped - and pleasingly decorated. Breakfast next morning was delicious - great coffee, I might add. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are planning a winter visit this year.

I was told my review was to long so I am going to make it shorter and to the point. This B & B is not a real B & B its and 6 bedroom motel added onto a private home. They cater to wedding and meeting in her very large dining room, the cook who comes in at 7:30 to cook in the commercial kitchen that was part of the addition does not know what a good breakfast is. I only have one word to describe breakfast, HORRIBLE. We stayed for 3 days and ate breakfast twice. We left on the third day without eating breakfast, we decided we wanted a good breakfast before we left Maine. The bathtub was very slippery, she did give me a bathmat which I HAD TO PUT DOWN. As for our room the beds squeaked everytime you moved. For $125. per night I wanted a quiet bed and a good breakfast, GOT NEITHER. We have decided never to stay at a B & B again.

The Alamoosook is built right up alongside the lake, and so has great facilities for swimming, canoing, and picnicking. The rooms are clean, if a tad small, and beds comfortable. We enjoyed the fresh blueberry pancakes, too. A great retreat.

The Alamosook Lakeside Inn is a beautiful place to stay with outstanding views of the lake and exotic wildlife. It was one of the best vacation stops we have ever experienced. The Innkeeper was extremely service oriented; knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and the breakfast she provided was outstanding.
