This is a great place to stay on the edge of the French Quarter ... away from the tourists. You get a real feel for the local community here. My favorite this was the little sitting area near the balcony door. I spent hours there reading one night. Very relaxing. Everyone in the restaurant/bar downstairs are very friendly, the food is delicious.

This B&B in a quaint neighborhood. It offers a real feel for the more authentic section of the French Quarter (away from the typical tourist sites). The restaurant and bar on the first floor of the building has excellent food ... I highly recommend the lentil and spinach soup.

Loved the Balcony Guesthouse, could have been a tad cleaner in the guest bathrooms and maybe some other options for breakfast but other than that we Loved it!

I love B&B's and this one was nice. The owners were very nice and friendly. I arrived later than anticipated and they were very accommodating. The building is old so floors creak but I didn't mind that, part of the old home charm that I enjoy about B&B's. The stairwell is pretty narrow and the stairs shallow. The door didn't block much noise from the halls. I could here people coming and going but so long as no one was in the halls there wasn't much disruption. The pictures seem much more spacious than the rooms actually are, but also ok. There was a small armoire for clothing. The WiFi was sketchy, in and out. The cable was basic, the tv an older model with a remote that didn't quite work all the time. The place is in the Marigny neighborhood, seems sort of New Orleans flavored hipster. The French Quarter is a good walk but doable if you've got comfortable shoes. There's some eateries in walking distance. I had the crawfish egg rolls and some gumbo from the Silk Road Restaurant. Both dishes were pretty bland. They have a mango white chocolate cheesecake which was surprisingly good. All in all, a good stay great value considering I booked within two weeks of my trip and the weekend fell between the French Quarter and Jazz festivals. I would stay again!

The Balcony Guest House is great for those looking for quiet place to stay away from the almost 24 hour noise of the French Quarter in New Orleans. The Balcony Guest House is located in the Marginy and has several good dining choices within walking distance as well as a good restaurant on-site. It is also an easy walk to Frenchmen St as well as the French Quarter if you desire music or a more active environment.

The owner is grumpy, but the place is very nice. It is old and in an old neighborhood, but there is all kinds of character in it. Walking distance to all of the great things in the French Quarter. It is quiet. We felt safe. The price was very good. The night we stayed, there was a drive by shooting about 2 blocks away, but hey, it IS NOLA. People who lived near would sit on their porches and talk to us as we walked by.

Had my family fly in from all over the country and world to celebrate my 70th birthday. We were immediately treated like a part of the family. Zak, the owner, brought me some beautiful flowers to start off our stay. You could tell Chef Ganesh took great pride and had worked all day preparing the feast for my birthday dinner. Chef Cheryl made the best cake we had ever tasted. I spoke about each person in my family and my kids did a amazing rap about me. By the time we were done almost everyone was in tears - including the owner Zak, his wife, Steve and Alicea (sp). They made the night magical for all of us. Thanks from all of us to the staff. We will probably never be able to get all of us together again but the ones of us that do go back to New Orleans will always stay at the Balcony Guesthouse!

I'd say the best part of our stay was the lovely wrap-around balcony that we could access from the common area.. Also our room and bathroom were clean with no complaints, although room was small which I've learned is typical in these New Orleans B&B's. Complimentary Breakfast consisted of standard limited buffet of dry scrambled eggs (for some reason we got the scrapings of the pan, eggs were not replenished), bacon, biscuits & gravy, fruit. (no complimentary pastries or pancakes). If you want an an outstanding breakfast nearby try "Cake" just a couple blocks away or "Horn". We didn't eat dinner at the Silk Road restaurant at the Balcony Guesthouse but some folks eating at the outdoor seating area said the dinner was Excellent. The walk to Frenchman's Street/French Quarter and the waterway was a little inconvenient but certainly doable. I would definitely stay at Balcony again because of the price, cleanliness and of course the lovely balcony. Would also like to try Silk Road restaurant (other than their "breakfast).

We really enjoyed our stay at the Balcony Guesthouse it was a great deal for the location! The room was small but definitely more than sufficient. We loved breakfast every morning, and had a great time drinking wine on the balcony. The only issue was the sheets had little brown spots on them. Housekeeping changed them, but apparently where they are stored gives them little brown spots. As long as that doesn't weird you out, this is the place to stay!

I booked the BGH, site-unseen, via the Internet, and it was not the least among my magically perfect wedding details. Our entire wedding party booked the six rooms (2 suites), completed with a balcony patio, above the silk road cafe. Zak was perhaps one of the most wonderfully accommodating and helpful hosts I've known. He was so very gracious when I broke the rules unwittingly and provided nothing but sympathetic assistance when anything went wrong. The rooms were delightful, though smallish, and very clean with pretty furniture. Each room had access to the shared balcony, with the exception of the suites. The common area was small, but pleasant, and also provided balcony access for visitors. The BGH was perfectly hospitable to all of the comings and goings of our various wedding guest visitors, provided delicious food for my culinarily-undaring family, and responded very graciously to my requests for exception to some rules. All-in-all, these guys tried their very best to provide exceptional service to our group. The location was fabulous, about 5 blocks from Frenchman street and a stroll to the French Quarter. There were also a couple happening night-life spots a half-block away, though the surrounding neighborhood was fairly quiet--perfect for entertaining us without keeping us awake at night! Parking was also a breeze, and I was never further away than across the street, regardless of when I showed up. Breakfast might have been a little more extravagant. It consisted of eggs, biscuits, bacon, and potatoes each morning. No fruit or other luxury items, but the coffee was pretty good and so was the orange juice. The cafe's menu was nice though, and the food, as I understand it, was deLICious. To Zak, Matthew, and all the other marvelous people who made our stay so delightful, THANK YOU! I will definitely be back!
