Very little service and a grab and go breakfast, and the rooms were sub par. If you dont need a lot of service then was a nice location to explore the city. Only a good deal if below average market price.

Logement au rapport qualité prix imbattable à New Orléans.

Our room (New Orleans Saints Room) was clean, everything functioned properly, and clean fresh linens were provided. We were able to check in early, and found the check in experience hassle-free. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND MID CITY MANSION FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS!

We stayed there for New Year's Eve and 2 days after for a price that was less than half of all other places we could find in New Orleans. In that sense, it was good value because the place is clean and the location is pretty good (5 mins walk to restaurants and tram). Yet I would like to warn prospecting guests that the "continental breakfast" consists of cereal bars, though there is a kitchen with working utensils, the bathrooms are shared and not all linen is provided for. In short: if you set your expectations to a hostel experience, it is a fine place to stay. For anything more, not so much.

We booked a room here without knowing anything about it, because it was the last place available in New Orleans for the dates that we wanted. Needless to say, I was very worried about what we were getting ourselves into, but what we found was a very pleasant surprise. We stayed in the Mardi Gras room. It is nice and large and the only room with direct access to the front porch. It is a few doors down the hallway from the shared bathroom. I was concerned at first that the whole shared bathroom thing would be an inconvenience, but it turned out that it really didn't bother me at all. In fact, I think it added to the home-like feel of the place. The entire house was very clean. When I began to get dressed for the evening, I realized that there was no mirror in the room to use for hair and makeup. When I expressed my concern to the owner, I found out that the night we arrived was actually the first night they were open for guests, so they hadn't quite worked out all the kinks yet. He apologized and IMMEDIATELY went to the store and bought us a mirror to put in the room. Now that is what I call good service!! When we woke up the next morning, there was a nice little setup in the shared dining/kitchen area with fresh fruit, muffins, and the like. The location is not very close to the French Quarter and such, but you can hop on the streetcar, just a 10 minute walk away, for a cheap ride down Canal Street to the main tourist areas of town. I actually preferred the quiet street we were on over the crowded French Quarter, and I spent a lot of time out on the front porch just enjoying the peace and relaxation. Keep in mind the house is very old, and does not have the look and feel of a modern hotel. But, in my opinion, that is a bonus because it adds to the authenticity of your New Orleans experience. It makes you feel like you're not just a tourist, but more a part of the community of New Orleans. I definitely plan to stay here again on any future trips to the city.
