Personal Touches

5 sur mai 15, 2016

La Belle is set apart from other B&Bs, not by the beautiful, historic neighborhood centered halfway between the French Quarter and City Park.....La Belle is unique because the engaging hosts, Melanie and Matthew, pay attention to detail, and more importantly take a personal interest in their guests. So while my stay in the spacious, delightful Pelican Suite was comfortable, it was the handwritten notes before and !fter my visit and the warm conversations throughout the days that made my visit most memorable. Yes, Melanie and Matthew, you indeed made a friend. With a hug.

Réponse du propriétaire
When we started as innkeepers neither of us had a background in hospitality. Not in the professional sense, at least. We both knew how to be hospitable to friends and family. Maybe that's an asset. We enjoy meeting new people, talking about the city and what interests them, and sharing what we know about New Orleans culture. New Orleans really is an amazing place. We're glad you chose to experience it with us. Come back anytime, -M&M.

Fabulous b and b

Matthew and Melanie were amazing hosts and fabulous ambassadors to New Orleans.

Réponse du propriétaire
We see our profession as not only being innkeepers but also being goodwill ambassadors for this wonderful city we call home. This review is short and to the point, so my response will be the same: Thanks for staying with us and don't be strangers in the future. With a handshake, -M&M.

Stay here!

5 sur avril 08, 2016

Stop looking for other places and stay with Matthew & Melanie at La Belle Esplanade. In a beautiful section away from the noise of the quarter, La Belle was amazing. From Matthew's well chosen breakfast choices to daily conversations with other guests & great recommendations for sight seeing. We stayed 5 nights and wished we had booked on longer. Our hosts were very well versed in the culture, atmosphere & must sees. Stay here and let them make you feel right at home & this B&B. Looking forward to our next trip Gregg & Richard

You two were a pleasure to meet and to have stay with us. We do hope to see you again in December. We love our part of the city---it's close to the things you know about New Orleans, but it's in the heart of many delightful things you won't know until you get here. It's a city full of surprises. We look forward to seeing you soon. Cheers! -M&M

Perfect Choice

5 sur avril 04, 2016

Our first visit to New Orleans and La Belle Esplanade was the perfect choice for our 5-night stay. As others have said, Matthew and Melanie are charming, knowledgeable hosts. We looked forward to breakfast each morning to see what delectable plates Matthew discovered prowling local sources. We stayed in the Clio Suite on the second floor, literally a "home-away-from-home", spacious and welcoming with period furnishings, fridge, snacks, hot pot, and balcony overlooking Esplanade Avenue. With the trees leafing out, it felt like a tree house. Very convenient location; no need for a car. Just steps from the bus stops and easy walking to the French Quarter and City Park/Museum/Botanical and Sculpture Gardens. If you are planning a trip to New Orleans, stay here! Steve and Marlayn Riley, Ventura, California P.S. Outstanding Rating. Computer refused to activate the "Outstanding" button.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. You made the most of your stay in the house, and it's always nice to see people enjoying the balcony. It really is it's own world up there. We hope you'll come to New Orleans again. You know where to find us. -Cheers! -M&M.

Home away from home in the Big Easy

5 sur avril 02, 2016

We loved our stay at La Belle Esplanade and have been homesick for New Orleans ever since our departure. The location was absolutely ideal, just outside the French Quarter. Matthew and Melanie are charming, warm hosts who give great advice on how to experience the best the city has to offer. Our room was delightful, the breakfasts delicious. We adored our time and can't wait to return!

Réponse du propriétaire
Our inn is your home while you are here. You can't cook here, but otherwise you should feel comfortable coming and going and you should sleep well. Ours is a quiet city neighborhood. We are close to the French Quarter, but a world apart. We hope you'll be back to see us. We can pick up the conversation where we left off. With a handshake, -M&M.

Marvelous Birthday Stay

5 sur mars 30, 2016

Fantastic hosts. Matthew and Melanie provided not only excellent suggestions for restaurants, music venues, and sightseeing but also made my husband's birthday extra special with a surprise additional wine and cookies gift left in our room. Our suite (Les Peches) was spacious and extremely comfortable, stocked with snacks, welcoming bottle of wine, juices in the refrigerator and tea/coffee maker. Breakfasts are incredible; you start each morning with an authentic New Orleans culinary adventure as Matthew purchases breads, pastries and a side dish (for example shrimp and grits) to accompany the cheese and cold cuts. I must also mention that they serve the best coffee we had anywhere in NOLA!! The location is very good; an easy 20 minute walk to touristy French Quarter or up to City Park (great Art Museum and gardens as well as beignets at Morning Call). Bus line within a block to take cross town. We also used Uber which worked well when tired though do walk to see all the amazing houses. Highly recommend staying here for an authentic and most pleasant relaxing holiday

We aren't licensed to cook ourselves so we don't. Instead, we go to various neighborhood shops and pick up what we think will be interesting. You get a taste of all the various flavors New Orleans has to offer. It's not all fried oysters and pralines, you know. I pick up the bread and the pasty every morning, but it's Melanie who does the real work in the kitchen, curating the whole meal into a satisfying whole. Thank you for staying with us. When will you be back? We hope it will be sooner rather than later. Cheers! -M&M.

Marvelous New Orleans Birthday Vacation

5 sur mars 30, 2016

Fantastic hosts. Matthew and Melanie had great suggestions for restaurants, music, and sites based on the individual's interests. They made our stay extra special with a surprise birthday treat left in our wonderfully spacious and very comfortable suite (Les Peches) which we enjoyed on our veranda. Breakfast was a culinary treat with specialty local foods which Matthew would select from different sources across New Orleans---shrimp and grits, dolmes, bacon maple donuts, crusty breads!. Location was quite good. Away from tourist crowds yet a 20-25 walk to French Quarter, Frenchmen Street or City Park. Bus was within one block and we also used Uber a few times as well. Highly recommend staying here.

Réponse du propriétaire
It's a very nice picturesque stroll from our house in either direction up Esplanade Avenue. To your right you'll find the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street. To your left, City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art. In between are so many details and points-of-interest, the walk goes by in no time. New Orleans has a dense and rich texture. We're very happy you chose to stay and to share your New Orleans adventures with us. Please come back anytime. You know where to find us. With a handshake, -M&M.

Our stay in New Orleans

5 sur mars 28, 2016

La Belle Esplanade was hands down the best b&b. Matthew and Melanie were incredible hosts. They love the city and all their recommendations with entertainment and food options were spot on. The breakfast each morning featured something special from the south or New Orleans. Our room was quaint and comfortable. I would highly recommend this b&b to anyone visiting New Orleans. We would definitely stay here again if we get a chance to come back.

Réponse du propriétaire
Thank you. We try to know as much as we can about New Orleans: the touristy things, the non-touristy things, the history, the culture, the demographics, the economy, the trends. We love where we live and we are embedded in this wonderful city we call home. Come back any time. There is still plenty more to discover. We've lived in New Orleans 6 years. We aren't moving anywhere else anytime soon. We love where we live. With a handshake, -M&M.

We always say that for the length of your time in New Orleans the inn is your home. It will be your home when you come back, too. Even when nothing is going on in New Orleans, something is going on and there is plenty more to explore. Best wishes, -M&M.
