The name Pieve de’ Pitti is derived from the name of the parish chapel of St. John of Pava, built on the ruins of an ancient Etruscan church and from the Florentine Pitti family, who owned the estate until the end of XVII century. Nowadays, the Villa and the parish church of San Giovanni di Pava, look Volterra and the sea, surrounded by an holm oak wood and our Sangiovese vineyards. Wild Boar with Black Olives
There is a long tradition of wild boar cooking in Tuscany. That's our family recipe. At Pieve de' Pitti, hunting boars is a team work, as there used to be no fire arms and stopping a scared boar on its tracks is not an easy job, quite dangerous indeed. Every year many are the wounded dogs as a result of clashing against one of the charging boar fangs. But the experience is great, even for the non-hunters who can look at the show from the Villa. Boar meat is quite common in Tuscany, and if you will attend our classic Tuscan home-cooking classes, you can prepare this delicious traditional Tuscan dish at home.Options repas
