We wanted to spend more time at Volcanoes National Park so we took a night out of trip to Kona to stay the night in Volcano. This was the only B&B I found that would let me stay one night. The host and hostess were welcoming, showed us where to get the coffee and tea, served this delicious Norwegian cake (I think that's what they called it.) The room was very large and the comforter was soft and cozy. I normally don't sleep well the first night in a new bed, but didn't have a problem here. It's very quiet and peaceful place, no traffic noise at all. I'd definitely come back on our next trip.

Drew & Nice, Innkeepers of Volcano Forest Inn were a delightful couple! We had more fun visiting with them as they were friendly, warm and funny. They appeared at the right times and we felt like we had our own retreat in the forest. We enjoyed delicious almond cake for evening dessert as well as for breakfast! We could have eaten the whole cake…well actually we almost did! We’ve travelled all over the world and rarely have met such warm and friendly hosts who genuinely love what they are doing…it shows Drew & Nice, thank you for everything and we will definitely be back and recommend to friends!

My wife, a friend and I recently stayed for one night at the Volcano Forest Inn, while in the area for work. When we arrived, the innkeepers were having a wine/pizza party with friends and, graciously, invited us to join them in the living room to listen. After our long trip from the mainland, we didn’t feel like joining for long, but went off to bed when the performer finished. My wife had left a few minutes earlier as she was coming down with a cold and was tired. After we left for bed, the innkeepers continued on with their ‘meeting’, quite loudly. I waited until 11 pm, then asked if they could keep voices down as we were having trouble sleeping. Nice, one of the keepers, apologized saying they hadn’t had guests for a few days and forgot how echo-y the house is. Drew, the other keeper, said nothing and did not conceal the scowl on his face. But they quieted down enough to get to sleep. The next morning as we were packing the car, Drew drove up and said nothing but “keep it down, we have guests sleeping!” We were then told how rude it was for me to have asked them to lower their voices ‘in their own house’. We were also told how they did us a favor to rent out two rooms as they had an 'important meeting'. Excuse me?! I’m not sure how charging us $300 for 2 rooms is a favor? Are they not running a business, and wasn't it their decision to make the rooms available? Our friend was then accused of breaking a wine glass in the kitchen sink. She had never been near the kitchen sink and certainly didn’t break a glass. Nice then asked my wife, "what's your problem, why were you so cold and why didn't you want to stay up with us the night before?" She then informed us we were "not their kind of people and we should just leave". Again, is this a business or are we expected to join the family? I suggest they either decide to treat the inn like a business or keep it as their home, as they can’t do both.

Use the directions provided as our GPS was unable to find the correct address and at night there isn't much light to find this tucked away B&B. We had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend the Volcano Forest Inn if you are visiting Volcanoes National Park or the Hilo area.

We had a lovely stay at Volcano Forest Inn due mostly to Drew and Nice' who were just terrific. Breakfast was continental--and tasty--but we would have loved some more hot dishes. The location's great and we enjoyed our stay.

Nice and Drew Schultz, your warm and friendly hosts, are new the the inn, but they have a lot of plans to make this wonderful B&B even better. Situated in its own rain forest, this place is a birder's paradise (we saw exotic birds like apapane and kalij pheasants from the porch) and it's like having your own private retreat, although the inn is only a very short drive from the volcano park. Our room was much bigger & nicer than the picture on this website! The breakfasts were delicious and there was almond cake in the afternoon to eat with out tea or coffee.

A lovely and quiet place in the rainforest. But in the room there was the bad smell of mold fungus and you could see it everywhere. Not a very healthy place to sleep. This place needs a dehumifier running all day long.

Little hard to find, but worthwhile -- beautiful, peaceful.

We loved staying at Volcano Forest Inn. Caroline and Jerry made us feel so comfortable and were always available. Our room was very clean and comfy. We enjoyed the yummy breakfast! We felt like we were pleasantly lost in a beautiful rain forest, yet everything was just minutes away. We will definitely go back again!

We were surprised by the spacious rooms and kindness. We got a lot of valuable information about the area and enjoyed a very good local breakfast every day. Just the perfect stay for our first time in Hawai'i.

Lovely setting in a forest clearing near the volcano national park. Pleasantly cool at night and a well appointed room. Friendly owners who had good local information, and a good breakfast spread. Mr & Mrs Sykes, London, England

I was a tourist from Japan. The owners were very kind, they talked with us in very simple English for us to understand. If my friends visit Hawaii Island, I strongly recommend this B&B to them.

Had a wonderful night at Caroline & Jerry Wiget's Volcano Forest Inn. Literally surrounded by tropical rainforest, it is conveniently located in Volcano village, walking distance to stores and restaurants, 1 mile from Volcanoes National Park. Big rooms! Comfy!

The people were friendly and nice and served a nice breakfast. However, we had little hot water for our showers, and the room smelled musty/moldy.

I have never stayed at a B&B before, but this place was nicer than most hotels and Debbie and Greg were great hosts. The rooms were modern, clean and roomy. The food was excellent. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on this part of the island.

Nothing major wrong here, but nothing much to make it stand out, either. Set deep into the rain forest, so views out the windows are interesting. Decor is "early McMansion". Wifi available. Breakfast is what Mom would serve you. Inkeepers are helpful if you ask for help.

A very friendly welcome. The rooms are more like a nice hotel: large, clean and well appointed. We borrowed DVDs from Greg and Debbie to view in our room and received a large bowl of freshly popped popcorn from Debbie to enjoy with our movies! We felt breakfast was a little sparse but overall we would certainly stay here again.
