    Ala Kai, un gîte au bord de la mer, est situé entre Kea'au et Pahoa, à 17 kilomètres au sud de l'aéroport de l'île Big Hilo. Profitez d'un petit déjeuner complet, y compris les fruits de l'île et café Kona. La maison principale comporte deux chambres d'hôtes avec bains privés et une véranda multidisciplinaire aussi une vue spectaculaire sur l'océan, sunrise et saisonnières d'observation des baleines. La maison Ohana est une location de vacances gîtes de deux chambres à coucher avec une cuisine entièrement équipée, buanderie et sa propre lanai. Profitez de vélo, randonnée à travers la forêt tropicale, plongée libre et nage sur une plage de sable noir. Parc National des volcans est seulement une heure de route.

    Truly Paradise on Earth

    We have had the most wonderful stay at Ala Kai. With my wife, two kids and my dad we booked the cottage for 6 days in the end of August. With the queens in two bedrooms and a queen hide-a-bed sofa in the living room it really was the only choice we could find for the price where we could all sleep comfortably. The place has a beautiful and tasteful decor. Full kitchen, not only with pots but also with salt and spices. Some books including a very good guide to the island that came in very handy. TV and DVD that we really did not have time for :). A washer and dryer in the garage with all the liquid soaps and what not. There is no air conditioning but we did not suffer from it at all. We were out all day and at nights the temperature was very pleasant so that we slept with open windows. We did not even used the provided fans. At night there is some loud singing outside that we thought was coming from some birds. To our big surprise these appeared to be frogs :). We actually enjoyed falling asleep listening to this singing but for sensitive sleepers the owners thoughtfully placed ear plugs at the night stands. The breakfasts we had there were simply the best! My wife and I had the same thought: "OMG, we are in Heaven!" The breakfast was served at the elevated porch (lanai) at the main house facing the ocean with waves crushing on the cliff, coconut trees and a nice swimming pool. The table was set beautifully, even with napkins in little shell holders. The food was hot and delicious. A set of fresh tropical fruit from the backyard was simply spectacular. And if I had a little bit too much, I could take a nap in the hammock right there and then have some more :). Pat and Tracy were the most friendly and accommodating hosts, interesting to talk to and very helpful recommending places on the island to visit. We will absolutely come back and stay there next time we have a chance.

    Abit of paradise by the sea!

    We recently spent ten days on the Big Island at the Ala Kai Bed and Breakfast for a family celebration. The Ala Kai is at the end of a quiet road overlooking the ocean. We were in the vacation cottage, which is like a mini vacation home. It was well furnished, thoughtfully stocked and very comfortable. The owners, Pat and Mary were very accommodating and friendly. They were responsive to our needs. We never went wrong following their advice on sightseeing, from tidepools, restaurants, farmers' markets, gardens, etc. Beach and snorkeling equipment and a great guide book to plan our days were provided. Breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. It was always a pleasure to come "home" after a day of traveling around the Island and take a dip in the pool or sit on the lanai listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breezes. We highly recommend the Ala Kai B&B.

    We loved our stay!

    The Ala Kai B&B was wonderful. We wanted to split our time on the Big Island between the Hilo side and the Kona side, but we were also apprehensive about many of the options closer to Hilo. After scouring TripAdvisor, we decided to give the Ala Kai a try, and we could not have been happier with our choice. We stayed in the cabin behind the main house, and it was like having the best features of a B&B and a vacation rental at the same time. Pat and Mary were great hosts --- the breakfasts were very good, and featured incredibly delicious fresh fruit --- and we availed ourselves to the snorkel equipment and excellent advice for where to go swimming. We also loved the location right by the water, which along this part of the island features dramatic lava formations rather than beaches. By the time we left, we were already planning who we could get to come with us for our next visit!

    Paradise found

    We stayed at Ala Kai B&B for 3 nights. Mary was our lovely hostess! Her breakfasts were amazing! She would always have a beautiful tray of locally and home grown fruit! Soo good. Our room was quaint and comforable. The setting is beautiful, and peaceful! We enjoyed the nightly concert by the coqui frogs too! We would recommend a stay here to anyone visiting The Big Island! Thank you Mary and Pat!!! Karyn and David from Colorado!

    What a great find!

    I needed a place with 2 bedrooms for a week and came across the website for the Ala Kai. Reservations were made and the stay was the best. My mom and I shared the cottage which was a complete house and we felt right at home. The sunrises watched from the edge of the cliff with a fresh cup of coffee were memorable. Meeting Pat was an extra bonus and I know that we will be coming back.

    A beautiful home away from home in paradise

    Staying at Ala Kai B& B was an exceptional experience and Mary and Pat were awesome hostesses. Eating fresh breakfast every morning sitting in the lenai in front of the ocean view cliff was amazing. Our kids enjoyed the company of the cats for whatever little time they could get after our daily excursions and still miss them. The rooms were equipped with every comfort one could think of and very clean & beautifuly furnished. We'll continue to tell our friends of our relaxing and comfortable stay here for a couple of days & nights and hope to return again one day

    A lovely stay at a lovely place.

    My husband, our daughter and son-in-law stayed at Ala Kai and enjoyed the cabin very much. They offered everything we needed, including wifi and a gourmet "Island" breakfast on the lanai, overlooking the sea. How glorious! It was convenient and comfortable.     We stayed for two days at Mary and Pet. It was wonderful. The pool is pretty cool with the chilling chairs ;) The cottage is very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing. And the hosts are very helpful and so kind. If I ever go to Hilo again I will stay again at Pet and Mary. Greetings from Vienna
