5 sur 5My Munich home from home - since 1999
janvier 20, 2013
From my first visit to Munich in December 1999, I can't imagine staying anywhere else but at Pension Lutz. Basic and comfortable, in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of Schloss Nymphenburg (the landscape park is a great place to go running) and a mere 6 minutes by underground from the main train station and the city centre. At the breakfast table I regularly encounter familiar faces from previous visits. Newcomers are often surprised to learn that Michael only took over on the retirement of the previous inkeeper at the end of 2008 - so well has he managed to preserve the unique hospitality of Pension Lutz while adding his own touch (such as sending regular guests reminders to book their next visit when all the great reviews cause a surge in bookings!). In addition to playing the accordeon, Michael is a versatile (digital) painter. If you want to go off the beaten touristic track, just ask him where his current exhibition is. Or just look around Pension Lutz to see a sample of his works. PS - Mind the step down when you open the garden gate.
5 sur 5Wonderful place to stay!

Pension Lutz is great! The innkeeper, Michael, is very kind and very gracious. We arrived in the morning, completely jet-lagged after a very long flight from San Francisco and desperately needed caffeine. When we asked Michael where the nearest coffee shop was, he told us not to worry - he would make us some "strong German coffee" himself. Honestly, I am still having dreams about that coffee! The accommodations were comfortable and very clean + the breakfasts were amazing ... have I mentioned the coffee?! The Metro is around the corner and the neighborhood is a nice, quiet retreat. I would highly recommend Pension Lutz and will definitely be staying there again, should we tour Munich in the future. Thanks, Michael!
4,6 sur 5Thank you for the great experience!

Michael runs his Pension with love and dedication. Thanks to him we discovered the best way to explore Munich. Forget the public transport. Go by bike! Just tell Michael - he will arrange the bike hire for you, delivery to the door step. We will be recommending Pension Lutz to all our friends.
4,6 sur 5I loved this place!

I recently spent three nights at the Pension Lutz. The InnKeeper, Michael, is wonderful. His place is welcoming. Very clean and very cozy. He is a very sweet person. I just reread the previous reviews and both made me smile. Everything they wrote is the truth. I would stay here again. It is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood which is nice to come back to after a busy day of being a tourist. There are a couple of nice restaurants nearby which is also a blessing after a long busy day. If you stay here be sure to ask Michael to serenade you with his accordion. After our busy day it was so nice to sit in his dining room, have a glass of wine and listen to his beautiful music.

4,0 out of 5Value for money guesthouse in a pretty and convenient location.

My boyfriend and I have spent 4 days exploring Munich and Pension Lutz served as a perfect base. The guesthouse is located 2 minutes from Gern underground station, just 5 minutes from the centre if Munich. Trains are every 10 minutes and easy to use, a taxi to the centre cost approximately 12 Euros. The guesthouse was clean, our double room was massive and the shared bathroom, next to our room, had a powerful and hot shower. The accommodation is basic, but it is done well and is everything you need for a visit to Munich. A selection of meats, cheese, jams, boiled eggs and bread rolls was served for breakfast with coffee, tea and orange juice. Michael, the owner, was extremely helpful and friendly and suggested a few worthwhile must see sites. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Do not hesitate to make a reservation to stay here. We are a family of five (two parents and three teens) and for us Pension Lutz was an oasis of calm and rest during our week of exploring Munich. Michael is a gracious host who has created an atmosphere of welcome and warmth, and if you look carefully you will find that the art on the walls is his own. The pension is in a family neighborhood with a grocery store, public swimming pool and beer garden all within a 5 minute walk of the front door. There are also several nice restaurants and a bakery within a few minutes' walk. A 2-3 minute walk gets you to the U Bahn platform, so you can leave the house and be in the middle of downtown Munich within a maximum of 15 minutes - it usually took us 10 or less. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and sparkling clean with plenty of hot water and fresh towels. Breakfast was simple and delicious - crusty rolls, meat, cheese, marmalade, juice and plenty of French press coffee. Even though we lingered over breakfast a couple of days we never felt rushed. We will absolutely stay here again if/when we return to Munich and we have already recommended it to friends who live in Germany. Michael was helpful and knowledgeable about the area and gave us some excellent suggestions regarding what to see and how to spend some of our time. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
