My husband and I stayed at the Washington Plantation for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. What a wonderful decision that was! Barbara & Tom were not only the perfect hosts, but we were fortunate enough to make 2 new friends. Our experience was much more than what we were hoping for. When we arrived on Friday afternoon March 8th, we found beautiful red roses that had been delivered for us with a "Happy Anniversary" card, a fruit basket, a teddy bear and candies. Breakfast was an unbelievable experience! Not only delicious, but very elegant. I would highly recommend the Washington Plantation, not only for a special occasion (like a 50th Anniversary), but just a week-end getaway. You can sit on the veranda sipping wine, while enjoying the beautiful grounds. Visiting the Washington Plantation, and having the honor of meeting Barbara & Tom will indeed be an experience you will never forget. Thank You Barbara & Tom for such a glorious time, and we do plan to return with our family.

The attention to small details made our weekend getaway fantastic: the gas fireplace in each room, the jacuzzi bathtub, the slippers & robes, the coffeemaker, the morning goodie tray, and the comfortable bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Innkeeper very nice.....very attentive even with her husband in the hospital at the time of our visit. Breakfast very good, but very similar in the two days we were there. I would recommend the B&B

Salle de Abigail a soft menthe-vert des murs gris-vert plus sombre somptueux rideaux avec un plafond de blanc beadboard, barres en métal blanc et tops florales. Un lit de riz à baldaquin Reine faits à la main, un bureau d'épinette période et la reine Anne highboy sont les pièces majeures de meubles, éclairées par un lustre d'étain. Tables occasionnels contiennent le vin et les seaux à glace, et il y a une radio de Cambridge SoundResearch / lecteur cd. Une mosaïque de douche surdimensionné et les toilettes sont séparés de la zone de vanité, qui se trouve dans une alcôve ouverte à la salle. Heure d'arrivée est 3 PM et retirer des temps 11 AM.

Il s'agit de notre salle Eastlake, avec un lit queen-sized chêne sculptée à la main, deux commodes chênes et un bureau d'inclinaison-top pin noir dans les années 1880. Les traitements de fenêtre se composent de rideaux de moiré or avec fantaisistes jupes plaid franges. Le lustre de cuivres et de la radio de Bose Wave ajoutent à l'ambiance. La grande salle de bain doté d'une baignoire clawfoot vintage avec laiton douche surround et tournesol pomme de douche et une table de vanité bien éclairés. Chambre des bacs à fleurs est la chambre principale de plantation de Washington et est le plus grand et le plus élégant de tous. Wallpapered en toile correspondant aux rideaux, l'effet est luxueux et invitant. Le lit king-sized testeur complet a dentelle lit rideaux et une verrière suspendu au plafond droite dans les années 1840. Le lustre de laiton belle avec bobeshes de cristal de plomb projette une lueur de merveilleuse. La salle de bains est grand, avec un ancien haut de compteur en marbre et un récepteur de belles sans rendez-vous. La baignoire est un clawfoot style 72 "bain tourbillon avec des bulles d'air chaud et de la chambre pour deux personnes.

We opted for the Washington Plantation for my birthday and our wedding anniversary. The website was well done and the reservation confirmation was prompt and professional. Before I go into details, some information about us: We are in our mid 30-40 and well traveled. Our experience covers everything from motorcycle trips through Alaska to staying in 5-star hotels. This was not my first time staying in a historic plantation home. As we drove up the unfinished, patchy drive way, we were greeted by an array of clutter on the property. Broken flower pots, broken TV sets along with chairs, tables and shelves of all sizes and condition ranging from bad to worse were scattered in an unorthodox manner around the porch. The rotten floorboards of the porch were partially painted. Even a non-expert in carpentry could see that the floorboards didn’t need paint, but replacement. The overall exterior appearance would have been perfect for a horror movie set.Because we already pre-paid $260 for the night (none-refundable), we were going to give the benefit of the doubt and took a look inside. After ringing the doorbell, we were greeted by a very unkempt and scruffy looking Tom Chase, the Innkeeper, who smelled severely like alcohol.Compared to the outside of the plantation home, the inside was nicer but cluttered. The innkeepers knew that we had a birthday and anniversary to celebrate. Therefore, the Planter’s room was decorated with rose petals, which was a nice touch. My wife and I came quickly to the conclusion that we just wasted a $260.- However, we were determined not to ruin our anniversary any further. As a result, we decided not to spend the night and drove the 2 hours back home. Out of fairness, I explained to Tom in detail as to why we would not spend the night in the Washington Plantation. I was going to leave it alone until I received today an automated “thank you” note. In summary, we cannot recommend the Washington Plantation at all and a refund would be in order.

I simply do not know how to respond to this. Late February and early March are when we do most of our maintenance, mostly because it's our slowest season, and partly because the weather is finally warm enough to paint and pour concrete. The "partially painted" porch repairs were completed by the middle of March, and the driveway repairs a little later. As for the "cluttered" interior, Washington Plantation is an 1828 Victorian Greek Revival house, decorated for the period, so yes, we don't look like Ritz Carlton at Reynolds Plantation. Their oral explanation for not staying was "It's not what we expected." As for the rest, read our other reviews, here and on other sites, where the accuracy of our web site is usually praised. There was no trick photography like fish-eye lenses or umbrella lighting involved on the web site. What you see is what you get. Most of the pictures were taken in November and May, not February or early March. The end of February and early March happens to be a time when the grounds tend to be dreariest, so disappointment in the grounds might be justified, but these folks live in Georgia, too, so it shouldn't have been unexpected. But in all other respects, Washington Plantation is not the Tobacco Road described here. But still, we are genuinely sorry we could not please them. It happens sometimes, two or three times in the seven years we've been open to thousands of guests. Tom and Barbara Chase5 out of 5Been there before, and glad we went back!

Tom and Barbara continue to provide an exceptional B&B in Ga! Stopped on the way to and from Fla, and enjoyed both nights. On our return Feb 14th, the romm was decorated for Valentine's Day, complete with silk rose petals, a box of chocolates and even a rosr for my wife! Gracious hosts, cozy atmosphere, and shrimp and sausage grits that are FANTASTIC!!! We'll be back, again!

The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the fireplace made things cozy. There were candy treats in the room along with a fruit bowl Tom and Barbara were very willing to adapt their meals to our "heart healthy" diets. The meal presentation was outstanding-- at one breakfast we had flowers and creatures cut from mellon slices--I've never seen anything like that in a Bed and Breakfast before. Our camera went into action at each meal. They were wonderful hosts.

What a fanstastic place. Definately one of Georgia's best kept secrets. Tom and Barbara were fantastic hosts. We lacked for nothing. The room was classic vintage (the mansion was built in 1828) but with all the ammenities. Wine and cheese on the veranda could have gone on for hours and the three course breakfast was superb. We'll be back!
