I stayed the the La Valbourdine in March, and between the gorgeous location, spectacular food, and peaceful surroundings, it was one of the best trips of my life. Above all of these positive aspects, I must say the highlight of my stay was getting to meet and live with the lovely couple who run La Valbourdine. Though I only speak a little bit of French, their kindness spoke volumes and through the challenges of communicating we got to know each other quite well. They also taught me about the area and local customs, as well as providing a great introduction to the notable food and drinks of Provence. There is so much to see and do in Toulon and the surrounding area. I did not have a car, but was able to go all around town by bus and on foot, as well as take a ferry to La Sablettes (a lovely beach community). I was there for a week, but would have loved to stay longer. I plan to return to Toulon, and I know that if I do in the near future I will most definitely stay at La Valbourdine!

We stayed here for 1 night during our travels through Europe, and it was great! The location north of Toulon was handy and in a nice quiet neighbourhood up in the hills. Our hosts, Aline and Jean-Pierre, were very hospitable and helpful and made us feel at home. Despite the fact that neither of us could speak each other's language, we managed to have great conversations with the assistance of technology! The bedroom we were in was very beautiful and classic and the bed itself very comforable. Everything was neat and tidy and of a good size. The room had it's own private balcony which had great views to Toulon. The other facilities were also excellent, with a big bathroom, although I would assume this would be shared with others staying there (we were the only ones for this night, so it was great!). This isn't an issue in my opinion with a B&B of this size (2 or 3 bedrooms?). I would highly recommend a stay here if you are in the area. As we were just passing through we did not see much of Toulon itself, but the French Riviera is a great holiday spot!
