"We have lots of family history with UVa and Charlottesville, so we decided to spend the weekend of our latest wedding anniversary at the Inn at Monticello. It’s the perfect place for a romantic get-away. We were greeted warmly on our arrival by Bob and Carolyn, the innkeepers, and their friendly Norwich terrier, Rudy. (Daisy, their gorgeous Birman cat, stayed mostly in hiding until we all left.) Bob gave us great recommendations for dinner both nights we were there. We stayed in the Blue Room, which has a big, beautiful quilt hung on the wall over the bed and a fully loaded fireplace ready to keep you warm in the cold weather. The queen bed was comfortable -- we slept like babies. Dinners on the town were great, but the breakfasts they serve at the Inn were better. Grilled orange croissants, tasty sausage, fresh-baked muffins and hearty coffee -- among the best breakfasts we’ve ever had. Rudy perched himself quietly but expectantly at our feet, fishing for crumbs. We also enjoyed the company of our fellow guests at the breakfast table -- stayed there longer than we had planned because the conversations were so enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend with Bob and Carolyn. We plan to return in the spring when the grounds at Monticello will be in full blossom, and we’ll look forward to re-connecting with our hosts and their cozy inn. Highly recommended. "
