What a dump!
sur décembre 02, 2012
This is the type of B&B for small town guests who think dusty rose and stuffed teddy bears mean luxury. Beat up floors, scuffed walls, chipped paint, 1950s bathrooms that look like your poor gradmother's house rather than cool. No elevator. There are so many other small hotels that are nicer and cheaper.
A Great Place to Stay!
sur octobre 01, 2012
The inn is lovely, convenient, quiet, clean, and safe. Carolyn is wonderful, and the other staff are very friendly as well. I felt quite at home and comfortable. I will stay there next time I am in DC.

First things first...
1) The Inn at DuPont Circle is a comfortable and convenient place to stay. It's in a good and safe part of town right near a Metro stop.
2) It's within walking distance of the White House (1 mile/15 minutes) , and the Washington Monument (1.5 miles/25 minutes).
1) I had chosen to spend the extra $30 or $40 on the Garden Loft (because it sounded nice with the private entrance and the Whirlpool bath), but was told upon arrival that she had already given it to someone else. I felt like I had fallen for a bait & switch, which was disappointing, but I didn't let it get to me and spoil the stay like some people might.
2) They tried to make it look fancy, but all of the furniture looked like it had been picked up off the curb or thrifted. None of it went together. But the bottom line is that it's a clean and comfortable place to stay, not that it's well-decorated.
3) The spread of pastries shown is not representative of what's available, so don't expect that. But again, your reason to stay probably isn't the fruit tart in the picture.
Other notes: They charge $25 for parking. Also, if you're using a gift certificate, be sure to negotiate the price before telling them-somehow, my stay came out to just a bit more than the value of my g.c when I think I could have gotten it for less.
It's clean and convenient, and a comfortable place to stay that was easy to get to after a long day of walking.
If you're in D.C., you're probably not planning on curling up by the fire like at a Vermont B&B, you'll be out visiting the city, so decor is less important.
Would I stay there again? No, but only because I've already been there and am sure there are other places to experience that would be equal or better for the same price.
Would I recommend staying there? Sure, why not. It's fairly affordable and a great location. Just keep simple expectations.
I love the Inn!

I have been staying at the Inn at DuPont Circle at least once a year since 2006. I love it. The rates are very reasonable. It is located within very easy Metro or walking distance from all of the major locations in and around DC. The neighborhood is quite safe; I feel very comfortable coming and going alone after dark. The breakfasts are incredible! If you go away from the breakfast table hungry, you just were not trying! Carolyn and her staff make you feel welcome...and if you keep coming back, you start to feel like family.
Really good reception through the stay

Very friendly and welcoming place. The breakfast was really outstanding with great personal service; as in asking if I wanted more bacon even if I was the only one at the breakfast, if I wanted an omelette, if I wanted them to open breakfast earlier than announced.
My room was the Nook room, the cheapest one and it met my expectations (a small room with a bed, refrigerator, TV and AC), good value for the price.
I'll return if I get the chance.

A Great Value in the DC Area
sur août 18, 2008
Why stay in an expensive Hotel when you have The Inn at Dupont Circle? The Inn is located in vary active "hip" part of DC with shops, dinning and the Metro just a few steps away. The inkeeper was more than helpful with local information and prepared a cook-to-order breakfast each morning. The room was clean and met all of our needs. Most importantly, we felt very safe. No need to bring your car because the Metro will drop you off 100 yards from the front door. We elected to drive (never again!) and was surprised to have the inkeeper personnaly escort us to their spaces in a nearby garage where we parked our car for $15.00 a day-a very fair price for that area. Our overall experience was fantastic and we would definitely stay there again.
Washington DC treasure

We stayed in the Dixon room at the Inn at Dupont Circle for 3 nights, during a very hot and humid week. The Inn was in a perfect location, near shops, restaurants and 1/2 block from the wonderful Metro system. Our room was not overly large but was quite comfortable with a great bed and luggage racks for easy access to our suitcases. The window air conditioners in both the bedroom and bathroom were quiet and very efficient and the decor was charming. Carolyn (the manager) was amazing....a great resource, cook and always welcoming and cheerful.
The rest of the staff was very friendly and they even did a small load of laundry for us...we found it neatly folded when we returned! Lots of good brochures and guidebooks for the area were available. Eggs, waffles and pancakes were available for breakfast along with juice, fruit and other side dishes. When we came home hot and tired in the afternoon, fresh lemonade or tea was waiting along with a bakery treat. A rare commodity, we paid $15 extra per day for parking a block and a half away. The garage was a little difficult to maneuver in but it was great to have this available. If you are looking for a home-like environment with very personal service and the charm of old DC, this is the place for you.
The Brooklyn Inn

this B&B is part of the Dupont Circle group apparently. Technically not a B&B - they do not "cook" your breakfast rather supply the food for breakfast. Our room was a spacious apartment and not a hotel room at all. It was beautifully decorated, super clean and the help was really friendly and accomodating. The bed was like heaven and not a typical, hard, hotel-grade piece of junk with feather pillows and lovely soft bankets. After slogging through hours of tourist walking we slept like babies. It is just aq few blocks from the red-line Metro which is the most important part of a place to stay so we felt like we were only minutes from anywhere we wanted to go. We will certainly stay there again the next time we are in DC!
