Hotel La Rosa de America

My husband and I spent our last night in Costa Rica at Hotel La Rosa America, and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. The flowers and pool area were lovely, and our room was very comfortable. All of the staff members we dealt with were helpful in providing restaurant recommendations and transportation options. The inn is a short walk to several eateries and to the bus stop for the Alajuela bus. Because we had an early flight, we were not able to enjoy breakfast at the inn. However, we received a "to go" breakfast of banana bread, fruit, and juice that was excellent. Hotel staff also took care of arranging our taxi to the airport. Hotel la Rosa America was a wonderful place to stay and relax for the final night of our vacation. I would certainly stay there again, and I highly recommend it to others.

We really enjoyed our one night stay at the Hotel La Rosa de America. We highly recommend it. The owner is very welcoming and helpful with good recommendations and touristic info available at the reception. This place is very well maintained and also very clean as mentioned in our Guide Voir printed in Quebec. There are TV with cable, WIFI facility, air conditioned and good hot shower. The rooms are a little small, but sufficient enough for those who spend their time outgoing during the day. The bed was also comfortable and clean. The property is well maintained with a nice swimming pool and nice landscaping. The breakfast was OK. The location is very near the Airport, but not noisy at all, as the property is a little walking distance from the main road in a secluded area, secured by a closing fence at night, which makes it very reassuring, calm and restful. The zone appeared safe and restaurants within a short taxi ride, if you prefer restaurants other than the local ones. Local buses are also available near the hotel to go to San José for around 1$ US only per person. Tour buses are not stopping at this Hotel. You need to take a taxi to a pick up point near the Airport.

We were very pleased with the accomodations here, and the service was excellent. We walked to nearby restaurants and used the local bus service to see attractions in the area. The staff helped us arrange two excellent day trips. I would love to stay here again.

This was a nice moderately priced place to stay at the beginning or end of your trip. The owners are a Canadian couple, and their little girls live there too. They offer a bunch of info books in the main lobby which is really helpful if you are just arriving and don't know yet how to go about your trip. As described, the gardens are immaculate and the property has a bit of a B and B feel. It can get a bit loud at night as sound travels from other rooms and the house behind the hotel. But if you are prepared for that, it is quieter than staying in town. The breakfast is nice, consisting of fruit and your choice of breads. The coffee tastes great. Hopefully they will include protein in the menu one day as that would round it off (ie eggs). The best feature is if you have an early flight, they hang a take away breakfast bag by your door to take with you. The rooms are quite small and beds not super comfy, so don't get your expectations up too high here. It is kept very clean by the Tica staff, and they can do laundry for you for $5 a bag. If you're just looking for a place to go that isn't expensive, is close to the airport, and has a great pool to lounge around, this would be it. They also have several restaurants close by and the bus is right around the corner if you'd like to go into Alajuela. It comes by about twice per hour. Pura Vida!

This is a great little hotel very conveniently located near the San Jose airport -- about 10 minutes and a $10 cab ride away. It was clean and quiet, nicely landscaped, included breakfast, and had a well-maintained pool to cool down in at the end of a warm day. It quickly became our home away from home -- very comfortable and very cozy. The Canadian owners, Rob & Alexandra, were incredibly helpful. Prior to arriving we emailed them to ask what they would recommend seeing/doing in Costa Rica. They gave us a pile of great suggestions and we actually used the hotel as our base camp for 3 days worth of activities (go white-water rafting on the Rio Reventazon for a real Indiana Jones style adrenaline rush). They even booked the excursions in advance for us so when we showed up everything was totally taken care of. Incredible! Between Rob & Alex, their two little girls (who were cute beyond belief), and really helpful, friendly staff, we really did feel like family and couldn't have asked for anything better. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be staying there again.
