We had a nice stay at the inn. Room was clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. There's a lack of outlets in the room. Be aware, if u have a street side room, there will be noise from passerbys. There is a very nice complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon. Breakfast is adequate; the quiche was especially good. The biggest downside is that there's not enough parking for all the guests so you may have to park on the street.
Lovely place to stay and enjoy some home away from home relaxation. The Inn was charming, staff very sweet and morning brunch very yummy! Thank you for making our anniversary extra special.
The staff at the West Cliff Inn is incredible. Their service was beyond any expectations that I could have had. The bedrooms are comfortable and bathrooms very spacious. I would call this place a win any time of the year.
Green Gables provided a comfortable and charming location for exploring the Monterey area. The old furnishings and decor gave a feeling of early California to the place. The room was large and bed comfortable and the breakfast service and other snacks were great. I only wish we didnt have that two storey climb with bags!
The room and hotel were beautiful, the staff was very helpful, and the complimentary wine and appetizers and breakfast were excellent. It was also great to have access to free soft drinks and cold water was a real plus!
I had seen the Gosby House on several occasions in my travels through the area, but had never had a reason to stay. My Girlfriend came to visit from Canada, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to stay. We were not disappointed. The room was clean, and nicely decorated, the turn down service at night was a nice touch, and the Breakfast, Wine and Cheese, and Nightcaps, were all nice additions. Would definitely stay here again.
We stayed for a long holiday weekend, and very much enjoyed the property, with the view, outdoor decks and central location of the beach, wharf and boardwalk. It was an excellent choice.
The West Cliff Inn is a beautiful Inn overlooking Santa Cruz bay. The whole facility was very well done and everything is within walking distance. The breakfast was quite good and they always had fresh baked cookies out for the guests. I also enjoyed the evening wine and snack they serve to guests at 5pm. The only negative was the sound of the back up beepers from neighborhood delivery trucks and the moaning of trash trucks early in the mourning... But there is nothing West Cliff can do about that.
This was our second stay at the Gosby House Inn. While parking can be a little challenging, the facility and the food are excellent. We're definitely planning another stay!
West Cliff Inn is one of the best B&B's we have stayed in, and for the price we had very high expectations! The staff from check-in to check-out was exceptional. We stayed there two nights, September 12 & 13 and the Inn was fully occupied but we never felt like it was crowded. We stayed in room 5, a Superior King Spa room, which was quite large and spacious. The only problem we encountered was on the first night when the fireplace suddenly came on at 1:30 am. The flames from the fireplace woke me up and at first I was terrified that the room was on fire. My husband had to get up and search the room for a way to turn it off. He finally just removed the panel below the fireplace and shut off the pilot light. I would also suggest that the staff get together on the policy for service animals in the main dining room. When we checked in we were told that under no circumstances were they allowed in the dining room, but on Monday 9/14 when we arrived downstairs for breakfast there was a dog in a stroller at a table with a food and water bowl ON THE TABLE which it proceeded to eat from. Needless to say we were quite shocked by this. So I suggest that the staff get together and make sure that whichever policy they are to follow that they all follow the same one. The location of the Inn makes it incredibly easy to get around on foot throughout Santa Cruz. We pretty much walked to restaurants for lunch and dinner each day. Overall I would give West Cliff Inn a big thumbs up and would absolutely stay there again! Sincerely, Sandi & Wayne Uhl
My wife and I have stayed at the Gosby House at least once a year for the last several years. It is a great place to stay and we highly recommend it. We have stayed at various other PG B&Bs and prefer the Gosby House, due to location, price and quality of the rooms. The food is perfect for us, relatively basic and not too heavy, but tasty. My only suggestion for them is to improve their Internet connection. It is functional but not very fast. That said, we will be returning next year to the Gosby House for another wonderful weekend in Pacific Grove, you should too!
Everything is great. Its peaceful and relaxing especially for people who wanted to travel alone and want a relaxing time. Rooms are clean and beautiful. the only thing that i dont really like is the bathroom in the lobby its not filthy but it doesnt meet my expectations. breakfast is late , i need to check out early so i waited till 8:30 but still the breakfast is not ready yet so i eneded up eating breakfast in another place. But i would definiteley recommend west cliff inn.
Our rooms were clean, well appointed and comfortable. The setting and location deserve even higher marks but the grading system only allowed for 'exceeded my expectations'. The breakfasts were delicious and relaxed. When rated along with the friendly, and capable innkeepers, this gem is a keeper. We'll definitely be back.
The last time we stayed at the Green Gables Inn was 15 years ago. We had loved our experience so much that when I found out we would be returning to the area this summer, I just knew we had to stay there again. I was a bit nervous that we might be disappointed because our memory of the Green Gables was just so perfect, but as soon as we arrived I knew my worries were for all for nothing. I can honestly say that the Green Gables Inn is my favorite bed and breakfast inn, and we stay at a lot of B&Bs. It is our favorite way to travel. Our rooms were beautiful and the views from our windows were just magnificent. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful and the staff was excellent. My son has Celiac disease and they went out of their way to make sure there were gluten free options for him at breakfast and at the afternoon wine and hors doeuvres served from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. They even had gluten free chocolate chip cookies for him! They gave us fabulous restaurant recommendations for dinner. We used their bikes to ride up and down the coastline, which is stunning. Breakfasts were delicious and substantial. Afternoon appetizers were quite good and so substantial that we didn't need to order appetizers when we went out for dinner later. If you can arrange a stay at the Green Gables Inn I highly recommend it. Being from the East Coast, it will be a while before we return, but it is a place I will visit again and again.
Pacific Grove would always be my choice to stay when visiting the Monterey Bay area. Gosby House is well positioned within Pacific Grove close to nice resturaunts, a short walk tyo Lovers Point, and easy to find on the main route along the Bay. The room was great, the breakfast was outstanding, and the staff was helpful.
I fell in love with Gosby House Inn from the moment I stepped out of my car. This place is wonderful. I would love to come back one day! Each evening when I returned to my room there was a rose and chocolate laying on my bed and my bedding was turned down for the evening. Delicious cookies at 3 pm and wine, cheese, vegetables and appy's at 4:30! Restaurants and the Ocean just minutes away! Beautiful beautiful city!! Love love love the history of Monterey! I love this place!! My favorite part was breakfast. Fabulous buffet!! Soooooo good!! Ben, who worked at the front desk was super nice and very accomodating! Next time I will book one of the rooms facing the back courtyard... I think mornings would be quieter.... 5/5 for this gal!
This was a great get away spot in Santa Cruz. It was so conveniently located near the pier yet totally away from noise. The rooms were elegant. The wine and cheese hour and breakfast sublime. Tremendous value.
We arrived in the afternoon from San Francisco and enjoyed a quite delicious afternoon tea. Then we moved into our room on the first floor with an magnificent sea view. Supported by the front desk we got a reservation at Passion Fish where we enjoyed a great evening with great food. Green Gable Inn is a great place to be ann enjoy holidays.
We were thrilled with the room upgrade in the main house. The Inn was very well cared for, very welcoming to its guests, and our puppy Shelby loved it! She didn't want to leave¿¿. We will definitely come back
A very pleasent b&b in close proximity to the Monterey highlights as well as the Pacific Grove shoreline. The service is of a very high quality. Breakfast was good and exceeded my expecations. You will always find a willing-to-assist staff, who is knowledgeable. Highly recommanded.
