If you don't like boring motels, this charming victorian is a good alternative. We enjoyed the sitting rooms downstairs, also used for breakfast, and our room and bed were very comfortable. I could hear the tv in the next room for most of the night, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We made a last minute reservation and could only get the room listed with the bath and shower in the hall. It turned out to be just a toilet in one room, and the shower in another room, with a small sink in the bedroom, not one full bathroom as I assumed. It was ok for one night and the price was very reasonable for the area.
This is the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed at. Gosby house offers a wonderful and generous wine and appetizer gathering and home made cookies through out the day. These gatherings gave us the experience of meeting some very nice guests during our stay. The last time we stayed we cancelled our dinner plans since we so enjoyed just relaxing in the wonderful atmosphere of this Bed and Breakfast. The included breakfast is also quite generous and delicious. We only wished we had stayed longer.
Our week at the West Cliff Inn was spectacular ! From the friendliness of the front office staff, the delicious breakfasts, generous wine and hors d'oeuvres every afternoon, to the spacious rooms (#3 was the best) with a jacuzzi tub and beautiful marble shower, everything was so special! Adding the birthday celebration package with breakfast brought to our room made it extra special. The huevos rancheros was delicious with the best hot chocolate we ever had. And we came back after dinner that night to champagne in an ice bucket, truffles and the Inn's cookbook. We can't wait to go back!
We stayed in one of the Carriage House rooms, which was large and with a lovely view and a great fireplace. The jetted tub fits two easily. The house is an charmingly old and beautiful -- like a B&B should be in a historic home. The staff were attentive, friendly and fun. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The location -- right across the street from beautiful coastline and within walking distance of many great restaurants and the Aquarium -- cannot be beat.
My wife and I stayed on a weekend and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Steinbeck room which has a stunnning view looking down Lighthouse Ave. that is beautifully light up at night. This room does not have its bathroom within the room, but it does have a sink within the room which made having the bathroom down the hall much less of a nuisance. Breakfast was good and the afternoon wine/snacks were nice. We especially liked the Sherry that was available in the evenings. The location in the middle of town is great with many outstanding restaurants within two blocks. We did not have any problem finding parking. We will definitely be back.
We only had one night in Carmel, but we really enjoyed the Tradewinds Carmel. It's quiet, comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Their restaurant recommendation was spot on! We will definitely be back!
The view from the Chapel Room was wondrous, and being able to open the windows and allow the sea breeze and the sound of the waves was a relaxing tonic. Loved the wine/cheese+ tasting overlooking the beachfront. The two full bathrooms were more than adequate and readily available. Do be aware that stairs may be necessary, and there are no ensuite bathrooms.
This was our first visit to a B&B and it exceeded my expectations. The staff was Wonderful, the room was very clean. You could tell it was well taken care of. We will definitely be returning.
We stayed in the Lover's Point room and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We decided to take a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary and I couldn't have pictured a better place to stay. The hotel staff was great, the location was within walking distance of plenty, and the room itself was a nice treat. Even when there was a power outage that affected 55,000+ people, the staff did their best to make all of us comfortable and still provided us with our morning food and beverages. I can't thank the Gosby House Inn enough for making our weekend worth remembering.
We loved our stay at Edgemere. Is is located off the main drag of Carmel so it was quiet and private, yet only a few blocks away from all the shops and restaurants. It is also one block from the ocean and we could hear the waves from our cottage. A perfect location. Gretchen and Doug were a delight and totally attentive to our needs. Doug is a great cook and we had one of the best quiches ever for breakfast. This was our first stay there and we stay there again when we go to Carmel.
This has been the latest in stays at Green Gables over the years (20?) and just as enjoyable as all the others. The location is unbeatable and staff and service are marvelous. These stays are always anticipated and remembered with satisfaction.
We had a lovely stay at the West Cliff Inn in Santa Cruz. The location is great: just a short walk to the boardwalk and beach as well as a 10 minute walk to the downtown which is a must do. The house has been restored to perfection. Our room was a bit on the small side but had a fantastic view of the water. If stairs are a problem for you, request a main level room. The stairs are very steep. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the wine happy hour. If staying again, I would call the hotel directly to discuss room options.
We stayed in a room in the Carriage House. Our view was much better than expected and the room was wonderful. The bathroom had a nice stall shower, two sinks, a tub with jets. The room was very large, with a king size bed, fireplace with two chairs and large screen TV and sitting area.It was a very short walk to Cannery Row. The breakfast was tasty, but it lacked breakfast meats. All in all, we will be back for the view and the very nice room
Stayed for to nights and such a sweet B&B! With the exception of the street cleaner so early in the morning! Also for this of you staying at a bed and breakfast for the first time, it's NOT a hotel, please be respectful of other travelers. Quiet time means quiet!
We stayed one night on a 2 week road trip and it was easily the best value for money place we stayed. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was very sweet and very clean. The free breakfast was brilliant as well. They even left cookies/muffins throughout the day if you wanted one. Would love to stay again some day
My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon at Tradewinds and we were pleasantly surprised when we pulled up. The facility is amazing! The rooms are so cozy and clean. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. We have already recommended it to other couples and we would absolutely go back there.
The location was wonderful, with many restaurants and other attractions within walking distance, Wonderful breakfasts, Only possible negative is hauling heavy luggage to a second floor room (no elevators and no bellmen). Nevertheless, worth pain and effort.
From Monterey Bay Aquarium tickets to restaurant reservations for view tables to a bucket of champagne, Gosby House staff are very happy to help. They really made our vacation go very smoothly. The breakfasts are great, as are the afternoon appetizers.
We had a nice stay at the inn. Room was clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. There's a lack of outlets in the room. Be aware, if u have a street side room, there will be noise from passerbys. There is a very nice complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon. Breakfast is adequate; the quiche was especially good. The biggest downside is that there's not enough parking for all the guests so you may have to park on the street.
Lovely place to stay and enjoy some home away from home relaxation. The Inn was charming, staff very sweet and morning brunch very yummy! Thank you for making our anniversary extra special.
