My wife and I enjoyed our romantic weekend in McCloud. There are many attractions like the falls and hiking trails, not to mention the great views of Mt. Shasta. We stayed in the spacious Wintu Suite. The room has a great design with the remnant old mercantile building updated with spa features. It seems that we were there when the room was "almost" finished. There were some finish details to the remodel that needed to be addressed. A little fine tuning would make this a first class room. The staff was really friendly and happy to share the features of the old building with us. We were able to review all the rooms in the building and would love come back to stay in some of the other rooms with the rest of our family. Early risers should take the Wintu or founders room, with the others facing the morning sun. Overall a great experience; rustic, charming, and the town may be the most quiet of any at night.

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that we had been upgraded to the Shasta Wintu room...this is something we would have never been able to afford otherwise. My husband and I felt like royalty as we relaxed in the spa bathtub, sipping on wine while looking through the view of Shasta Mountain. Adorable little town...we loved it! We will be back. Oh, and made sure to visit the waterfalls....beautiful!

What a fantastic find! The McCloud River Mercantile features gemlike, spacious, and elegant rooms, warm and accommodating hosts, and a wonderful on-site restaurant. Every detail is lovingly considered and I cannot wait to return.

We stayed in the Friday George Room which is their smallest room. It was very cozy but roomy enough for two people. The bed was comfortable. The room and bathroom were both very clean. The view of Mt. Shasta through our window was great! The common are was comfortable and had snacks and drinks. The restaurant downstairs recently began serving dinner. The prices were very reasonable and the food was great. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and efficient. The B&B owners were available with information and area suggestions but there was plenty of privacy. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. The town was a close drive to both Mt. Shasta and the McCloud River Falls. The town was quiet, safe and friendly! Great weekend trip!

When it's time for a trip to the Ski Park, we not only check the snow conditions, but can we get a room at the McCloud River Mercantile! We would be so disappointed to have to stay somewhere else.
