This is a beautiful town brimming with history. The service staff are all local residents who know the area well and are eager to share that knowledge with you. The food is excellent. The setup is a little quirky but that's all part of the charm. I would stay again.

My daughter and had a lovely 2 night stay at the Imperial Hotel and found it to be a magical, comfortable and historical place to stay. Our room was comfortable and tastefully decorated and the bed linens were soft and inviting. We felt pampered! We will return!

My wife and I generally like to get away for two nights when needing to relax and rejuvenate; one night at the Imperial, however, does the trick. This special place is set in a small, Gold Rush era town that hosts an intimacy and comfort that immediately drops your blood pressure. Skip the cable and enjoy three quiet sitting areas: taking our tea on the new front patio we watched the occasional motorist slow to a crawl as he relished Amador City's charm. After visiting the Feist Winery tasting room on Main Street we sipped a glass of Viognier on the hotel’s balcony. Our gourmet breakfast, included in the room rate, was served in a quiet terraced garden patio. The rooms have comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and unique period furniture. Like the people of Imperial City, the hotel staff is warm, welcoming and generous with their hospitality.

This place felt like home, From the front Desk (Peter) to the Bartenters to the Morning Cooks, all made you feel like you were important to them and part of the Family. The rooms are old but very clean. While there, I got to enjoy some local talent (music) on the new front patio. Seemed like the whole town turned out for the occasion. Nobody seems to be a stranger. Met alot of great people from the town. The only negative comment I would have, is some maintenance needs to be done on the wiring in the room I stayed in. And the alarm clocks need to be easier to operate. If that were done, as i'm sure it will be, I would give an excellant in all areas of ratings. I do plan to revisit this great friendly place in the future. Thanks to the Staff for the enjoyable experience! B. Hoyt Bakersfield, CA

Only a few minutes from Amador's 30+ tasting rooms and wineries your going to love this place. We stayed in room 2 with a balcony, it was hot outside but out our room was cool. Dinner is a must! This chef prepared a gourmet 5 star meal for us. The rack of lamb was tender, succulent, and roasted to perfection with a wine reduction sauce. Prices were more than fair to down right cheap, especially having just toured San Francisco with their over-priced and over-rated everything. You positively won't go wrong here. The staff catered to your every need. Your also a short drive to all the kool little gold towns that are scattered throughout the area. You should know that there is no TV but they do have Wi-Fi which is free so if you have Net Flix you can always catch a movie. But my partner and I just went out on the balcony and enjoyed a glass of wine and the quiet solitude of this outstanding B&B.

We enjoyed our Sat. night stay on a vacation through the Motherlode. For our 1st night on our July trip, it supplied the historical milieu we were after. Clean, spacious room, comfy bed, modern amenities (but no TV, & we didn't want it) along with friendly service & vintage charm (exposed brick walls, old wood floors) made it a really nice stay. We were in #1 with front balcony overlooking Main St. A summer Dancing in the Street event took place that night, was great fun, and broke up by 9:15 so didn't interfere with sleep. The breakfast included (we ate on the cool, shady patio) was tasty. There are antiques & reminders of the area's history all around but wifi and good parking as well. The old squeaky wood floors in this 130+ yr. old building might bother some people, but we liked them. Would stay there again.

This is our second stay at the Imperial Hotel. On both occasions we have found it clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly (as well as both outdoor hotel cats). It is a historic building and therefore somewhat rustic - don't let this put you off, it is a lovely find in this part of the wine/gold country.
