"First, don't be misled by the old website! The new owners have redone the rooms, and they are beautiful. My husband and I were able to take a quick midweek trip to Jefferson, and after several nights of online research, I made reservations with the White Oak Manor Bed and Breakfast. So glad I did--everything about this place was so nice. The home itself is situated in a neighborhood of gentle hills with a very old-fashioned feel, on a lot with an ancient white oak tree whose branches twist and spread its shade all over the yard. The house is decorated very beautifully, but not overdone at all. Lots of beautiful conversation pieces in the furniture and decor, real wood floors, and ceiling variations upstairs that make you feel like you're in your favorite children's book when you wake up. Our room was the White Oak room, which overlooks the tree in the front yard below. Antique oak furniture, a small step down sitting area beneath the window, and a spacious bathroom with an addictive clawfoot tub provided for a wonderful midweek getaway. We had a large flat screen tv, a wall mount model so it didn't take away from the room's atmosphere, a small frig in the corner, and a Keurig coffee maker and coffee in the room. Just outside the door, on the landing, was a very nice set-up with a microwave, popcorn, more coffee, a drawerful of toiletries, and a large selection of dvd's to take to the room and enjoy. The breakfast was soooo good, and we enjoyed a pleasant visit with the owners as we ate and drank our coffee. They blend excellent inn service with just plain friendliness, hospitality, and incredible cooking, and we've found our place to stay when we go back to Jefferson!"
