The venerable granite building faces the sea. Surrounded by gardens, it is an oasis in the small city of Rockland. Stay a night, stay a summer.Upstairs hall reflects antique woodwork. Stairs lead up to Room # 11, the only room on the third floor which makes it a favorite with guests.
Room # 5 is spacious and gracious. Windswept, it faces Penobscot Bay . A very "summer in Maine" atmosphereRoom # 6 also faces Penobscot Bay. Summer breezes caress you, peacefulness surrounds you. Bath with antique mantelpiece was once a child's room
Stained glass and original art abound throughout the home. At least 15 local artists are featured. There are often paintings for sale on the second floor "Back Hall Gallery"All three inn cats poised to welcome you at the front door: the black sisters, Molly and Thud with Molly's daughter Honey Bun ( also know as Bubcus). Raised at the Inn since infancy they are totally welcoming and friendly. In fact, they resent the seasons that we have few guests.
Kick back and relax in front of the fire when the out of doors is not appealing. This geranium which has reached the ceiling is a mascot of the Old Granite Inn. Fifteen years old, it is the largest most people have ever seen. There may be cuttings available when you come. Do ask.
The sun greets you each moring as it rises early from the sea.Part of the living room. It is a lovely big room with lots of seating. There is a woodburning fireplace for your pleasure when it is chilly.
