Deluxe French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch

Ingredients:

  • One loaf Italian bread

  • 7 whole eggs

  • 1 1/2 cups Milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar

  • Fresh fruits and link sausages

Step 1:

Slice one loaf of Italian bread into 8 large 1 1/2 inch slices excluding the end pieces

Step 2:

Beat well: eggs, milk, vanilla extract and nutmeg. Soak bread slices in the milk mixture. Lay bread slices in a 9X13 pan and pour the rest of the milk mixture over the bread slices. Refrigerate overnight.

Step 3:

Cook bread slices in a large nonstick frying pan (with lid) or on an electric griddle (bread covered with foil) for 6 minutes on each side on med./low heat.

Step 4:

Serve two slices per plate sprinkled with powdered sugar and surrounded by fresh fruit and cooked sausage links. Maple syrup on the side. Serves 4. A guest favorite.
