Orange Cream French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch
2 French Baguette
4 large eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
2 1/2 cups half and half
8 oz cream cheese
3/4 cup orange marmalade
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
juice of one lemon
grated peel of one lemon
1/4 cup melted butter
thinly slice baguette, saving about 20 best slices for top layer. Grease 9 x 13 pan and cover bottom with baguette slices, fitting scraps into the gaps.
mix eggs and milk and half and half. Blend in a generous splash of vanilla and a pinch of salt. set aside
In food processor bowl blend cream cheese, marmalade, lemon juice and peel, confectioners sugar. Pour carefully over bread lining bottom of pan. Arrange nicely cut bread slices over the orange filling. Do not need to fill the gaps.
Pour egg mixture carefully over top bread layer and cover and refrigerate over night. In the morning heat oven to 350 degrees and brush butter on casserole. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon-sugar
Bake at 350 degrees about 35-40 minutes until set and golden brown. Serve with Blackberry or vanilla syrup.
