Anna’s Banana Foster French Toast | by Anna Kelley, Presidents' Quarters Inn - Savannah GA: Breakfast-Brunch
Servings: 12
Prep time:20 mins.
Ingredients:
1 loaf Thick French bread
8 oz Butter
2 cups Light brown sugar
3/4 cup Maple syrup
6 Bananas (large & ripe)
1 dozen Eggs
1 cup Milk
1 tablespoon Vanilla
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
Step 1:
Melt butter in large sauté pan. Once butter is melted, add light brown sugar and maple syrup. Use a wire whisk to help combine sugar, syrup, and butter.
Step 2:
Bring to a simmer and add sliced bananas. Reduce heat to low and cook bananas until soft but not mushy.
Step 3:
While bananas are cooking combine eggs with milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined. Set aside until ready to cook bread. Slice French Bread.
Step 4:
Heat greased flat top griddle to 350 degrees (I use cooking spray like Pam). Dip each piece of bread into egg mixture and put on greased griddle. Let cook 3-4 minutes until golden brown and turn to cook other side.
Step 5:
Place on plate and top with warm banana topping and dust with powdered sugar. Serve with your favorite breakfast meats (sausage, bacon, or ham). Enjoy!
