Dal Makhni: Main Dish

120 Gm 120 gms Urad Dal ( Black Lentils)
30 gms Red Kidney Beans
20 gms each Ginger and Garlic Paste
To Taste Salt
120 mls Tomato Puree
5 gms Red Chilli Powder
120 gms White Butter
120 mls Cream
1 Litre Water
Preparation: Pick & Wash in Lentils in Running Water and Soak Overnight.
Cooking : Put the Drained Lentils in a Heavy Bottomed Pot, add salt in water, bring to boil,cover & simmer until the Lentils are Cooked and Two Thirds of the Liquid has Evaporated.
Mash the Lentils Lightly against the Sides with a wooden spoon. Add Ginger , Garlic Pastes, Tomato Puree, Red Chillies & a Knob of Butter,Stir & Cook for 20 Minutes.
Then Add Cream,stir and Cook for 10 Minutes. Adjust the Seasoning.
Remove to a Bowl,Garnish with the Remaining Butter and Serve with Tandoori Roti ( Indian Bread).
