William Tell Apple Cake: Dessert

Ingredients:

• 

  1/4 cup butter or margarine

• 

  3/4 cup sugar

• 

  1 egg

• 

  1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 

  1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

• 

  2 teaspoons baking powder

• 

  1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

• 

  1/4 teaspoon salt

• 

  2/3 cup milk

• 

  1 cup finely chopped pared tart apple

• 

  1/3 cup sugar

• 

  1 teaspoon cinnamon

Step 1:

Melt butter/margarine with sugar in mixing bowl using microwave.Cream until fluffy.

Step 2:

Add egg and vanilla; beat well by hand.

Step 3:

Sift goether dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, folding and stirring smooth after each addition.

Step 4:

Pour into greased 9x9x2 inch pan or individual muffin cups. Combine topping ingredients (apple, sugar and cinnamon); sprinkle over batter.

Step 5:

Bake at 375 25-30 min. or until knife comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; cut into squares and serve warm. Do not overfill pan or cups (it rises a lot).
