Heaven Sent Vanilla Saffron Pears

Ingrédients

  • 8 small pears
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 slice ginger
  • pinch saffron shreds
  • 1 small slice lemon rind

  1. Peel the pears but leave the stems intact.
  2. Place the pears, water, vanilla bean, saffron, ginger, and lemon rind in a saucepan.
  3. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes or until the pears are just soft, turning them occasionally.
  4. Serve in bowls with the vanilla and saffron poaching liquid. Garnish with shreds of saffron.
