Amish Shoofly Cake: Dessert

4 cups White flour
2 2/3 cups Brown sugar
1 cup Butter
Pinch of salt
2 cups Boiling water
1 cup Molasses (we use Turkey Brand Syrup)
2 teaspoons Baking soda
Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13 baking pan.
Mix flour, brown sugar, butter, and salt together and work into crumbs. Save 1 and 1/2 cups of crumbs for the top of the cake.
Combine hot water, molasses, and baking soda, mixing well. Add 1/2 of liquid to crumbs. Mix until moist and smooth. Add remaining liquid and mix. Will be runny!
Pour into prepared baking pan and top with reserved crumbs. Press crumbs lightly into top. Bake for 45 minutes.
