1811 House French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 loaf Italian bread, cut in 1" slices
This recipe comes from the 1811 House in Manchester, VT where I worked for 5 years. It is the best French Toast you will ever have! Thanks Marnie!
Whisk together the first 6 ingredients.
Place bread slices in single layer in glass baking dish.
Pour egg mixture over bread slices, turn them to coat them. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat griddle or large frying pan, add butter and then bread slices. Cook to golden brown, garnish with powdered sugar and toasted pecans.
