Horse and Chaise Inn LLC

First time staying in Venice and are frequent b&b guests all over the country. Lois is wonderful! Full of information about the town, has a lovely b&b inn, cooks great breakfasts, and a charming hostess. Felt like we were visiting a friend! Location is within walking distance to the main street and the beach is minutes away. Our room was very comfortable and we plan to come again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Horse and Chaise, The room was comfortable and our host was both personal and professional. The Inn is located on a quiet street, a a two block walk from the center of town. We would recomend the Inn without reservation. The rating system above indicates that it met our expectations which is what one really hopes for. No big surprises and a comfortable place to stay

I have a friend who visits from Michigan every year and his is our second visit to this B&B. I have to say that our stay was outstanding in every way - the meals, visiting with the owners and other gueses (very entertaining conversations), the room was delightfully decorated and very beautiful. This is by far the CLEANEST B&B we have ever visited. Not a speck of dust or dirt in any corner! The owners take great pride in the appearance of their place and seem to enjoy their guests.

Inviting and welcoming, warm and friendly. Wonderfully engaging hosts. Ideal location, a short walk to everything. We plan to return, again and again.

My second stay. The property and hosts are outstanding. The atmosphere is always upbeat and the breakfasts are delicious. The property is creatively decorated and spotlessly maintained. Convenient walking distance from "downtown." I am not a B&B type - but this one is different and I can't wait to return next year!

The weekend was a quite getaway with wonderful hosts! It is a beautiful house in a cute neighborhood. Just a few minutes away is the beautiful Caspersen Beach.

The owner Lois greeted us during our recent one night stay. She recommended several restaurants in the area and gave us a map to familiarize us with Venice. The room was perfect for our get a way. Found Horse & Chaise just as outstanding as I did 8 years ago. The hosts ere the same and very gracious! The accommodations and food perfectly matched my expectations. The location provided proximity to points of interest, etc. by car, on a walk or on one of their bikes - ideal for Venice, FL. ED K.

I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Wonderful location with so many restaurants and shops in walking distance. The personal touch that you get from staying here can't be topped by any hotel. Room was comfortable, food was excellent, Jon and Lois are amazing hosts!

Our stay at the Horse and Chaise Inn was delightful. John and Lois are wonderful hosts and attract the most delightful guests. We so enjoyed our conversations over breakfast with our dining partners on the two mornings we were there. The location of the inn is ideal for those visiting Venice - the neighborhood is tranquil and an easy walk to downtown Venice which is loaded with shops and restaurants. In addition, you have easy access to Rte. 41 which easily takes you to Sarasota, Siesta Key, etc.

We have been coming here for years, as a stopover before going to Captiva. Jon & Lois are excellent owners. We like The Garden Room because it is Pet Friendly.

A wonderful place to stay, terrific hosts, great food! We received the warmest of welcomes on our arrival. Lois is a sweetheart and with her husband Jon, we were made to feel very much at home. So....if you're looking for a B&B on the west coast of Florida, this is it! We thoroughly enjoyed our 20th anniversary at this location. Also, Venice, FL is a great and quaint little town. We are so appreciative that this B&B allows pets. We are spending 3 months in FL and have our large dog to consider. The owners were very welcoming and the room was definitely private and pet friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the company was great (we had the place to ourselves for the nite!) Recommended highly. Venice is definitely worth the trip.

This place is comfort and history rolled up in one. Lois and Jon manage a wonderful historic facility, keeping it in top condition, while providing a comfortable and friendly place to stay.

This is a wonderful place to stay with great food, presentation and personable owners. We spent 4-nights and wished it could have been more. The "Island" of Venice is a beautiful little place to visit, with good restaurants and quaint shops.

A historic hotel in the heart of Venice. Lois Steketee is one of the most hospitable hosts and it was a pleasure staying there. We were offered bikes when we first arrived, they are the perfect vehicle for discovering the beautiful sites of Venice, a gem on Florida's west coast. The room was fantastic and Lois cooks you a fantastic breakfast in the morning. If you are visiting Venice for a night or a week or more this is the place to stay! Fiona, Hollywood Beach, Florida

Very relaxing atmosphere, close to shops and restaurants, short ride to the wonderful Venice beaches, hosts made us feel welcome and treated us like friends. We plan on staying there again.

We love coming here! It's a wonderful place to relax and recharge. My wife and I commented after our last visit that seeing Jon and Lois was more like seeing an uncle and aunt. They always make time to sit and catch up with us on how things have been since our last visit and yet still manage to keep the place looking top-notch. Great breakfast every time. We have told so many friends about this wonderful place.

We were celebrating my girlfriends Birthday and the Horse and Chaise Inn was the perfect romantic get-away! Lois is a fabulous hostess - friendly, charming, knowledgable regarding the community, and an excellent cook. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting we felt like we were at home. We have one regret about our stay at this charming B&B. It was too short. This was our first visit to Venice but will not be our last. Our room was especially appealing with the model train that WORKED. Breakfast was delicious and recommendations for food in downtown area were spot on. Lunch at Back Eddys was scrumptious and dinner at Burgandy Square outstanding (best manhattan clam chowder ever-homemade). Delightful!

Jon and Lois made you feel right at home in their B&B. The breaffast's were outstanding. Can't wait to visit there again.

My wife and I chose Horse and Chaise to have a mini-vacation for our 1st Anniversary. This was also our first time staying at a B&B. All things considered, it was an extremely positive experience. The facility was very nice, charming, and provided the relaxation we needed. The service was great and the food was fantastic. We look forward to returning again in the future.

The owners of this b&b made you feel at home the moment you got there. They explained how to get around and what to do and see daily. The rooms all had different themes of the Venice area and were clean and well kept. Food was great, even accommodated my special diet requirements. I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone. Am looking forward to coming back again and again and again.

this B&B was very clean and the owners were very professional and nice. We've been to B&B's before & were disappointed with the limited choice of breakfast and the quantity. Usually you get a buffet style breakfast with choices and not a set plate w/no options...not much detail put into the breakfast..no homemade muffins to speak of..or cookies..etc.

1st stay at a bed & breakfast. Great experience and wonderful hosts that made us feel welcome and did what they could to make our stay pleasant.

We had heard that Venice was a nice city to visit in Florida so we decided to spend a couple of days there while on vacation. We have stayed at B & B's in the past and this one is definitely one of our favorites. As we entered the kitchen we were warmly greeted by Lois and John. Lois was doing some preparations for the next days breakfast, but she stopped what she was doing to kindly greet us and show us around. Lois showed us to our room which was very clean and neat and nicely decorated. She gave us a map of the city and pointed out some places of interest, restaurants, and walking directions to get to town. That evening we walked into town which was only about 1 1/2 blocks away for dinner. They have several nice restaurants to choose from. The next morning we were greeted by the other guests and sat down to a delicious breakfast. We would definitely stay here again when ever we are in Florida. One other thing the weather was perfect we were here in February and the weather was great. Didn't miss Ohio one bit.

Loved everything about the Horse and Chaise Inn. Jon and Lois were fabulous, very accommodating, and great cooks! Location was perfect in a quiet and very convenient neighborhood, within easy walking distance to historic downtown and shopping/dining. Facility was beautiful and immaculate. This will be our "go to" place when we visit the Venice area in the future!

This B & B is in an excellent location within walking distance of down town Venice with it's wide choice of restaurants and shops.The hosts, Lois and Jon, were very welcoming. There were facilities for tea, coffee, soft drinks and cookies 24/7. There were also bicycles available for guests along with free internet use. The breakfast period was rather short, between 08:15 and 09:00, and had a limited choice. However it was freshly cooked. We didn't like the fact that there was no door on the bathroom. Having said that, I would recommend this as a very good place to stay in Venice.

Our stay was comfortable, the owners were friendly and informative about the area. The Inn captured the atmosphere of Venice. We loved staying in town!

I recently stayed four nights at the Horse & Chaise Inn in Venice, FL. The innkeepers and hosts Lois and Jon were outstanding and offered all the care that I could hope for. The Inn itself is very welcoming and immaculate, with everything needed to provide a relaxing stay. I will definitely return to this Inn when I am in the area again.

Lois and John were exceptional hosts. They made us feel right at home. The Inn was beautifuly decorated and very clean. They always made sure they introduced you to the other couples staying there and breakfast was a treat. Everything was delisious and freshly made. Great conversation always flowed. They gave us some great tips on where to go and what to see while we were there. This was hands down the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in.

This was a random choice from a google search for a B&B in Venice, Florida...and man, did we luck out! Beautiful place (of course), but also friendly host and hostess, great food, and great atmosphere. Never a dull moment around Jon and Lois... :) We had a great time, will definitely be back - maybe for our first anniversary.

Had a great birthday weekend at the Inn. The hosts were so welcoming and the room was spacious and very clean. The Inn was very close to downtown so we could walk and enjoy the shopping and other sites downtown. We also got several suggestions and information on where to have dinner and really enjoyed the restaurant we picked. Will definitely recommend the Horse & Chaise Inn to friends.

I would very highly recommend this place (I actually referred a fellow teacher and her husband!) and I know you will love Venice and all it has to offer.

We were so pleasantly suprised by our accomodations and quiet surroundings. It was the perfect getaway to relax and spend some quality time alone. Lois is a natural at what she does, excellent breakfasts!! Looking forward to coming back!

The accommodations were extremely attractive and comfortable. The room decorations were tasteful yet matched the theme. The Horse and Chaise Inn has beautiful themed rooms. Lois is a great cook and also provided good conversation and information about visiting Venice and Sarasota. We had a wonderful time and will recommend this inn to others. We will return if we have another chance to visit Florida.

My wife and I found this excellent B&B by accident on the web. Looking for a quick -- short notice -- get away in a quiet area but close enough to get out, we stumbled on this wounderful spot. We were greated by a warm and welcome couple and found the stay to be much more pleasant than we would have expected. The owners were open to provide some suggestions and opportunities for my wife and I to get out and have fun, while offering a spot to come back to and relax and be together. The hospitality was outstanding! We will definetly be back!

Apparently the host and hostess do not have their act together for scheduling rooms...our stay was impromptu, although known by the husband...a French family showed up with a web reservation and the guests had to do the room "math"....make sure you confirm and reconfirm. Otherwise, a wonderful stay ... the host and hostess are lively and extremely nice. We'll go back in a heartbeat!

The host couple are very friendly. The area is beautiful! The inn is in an ideal location. You can walk to the cute historic downtown of Venice and the beaches are just a few minutes away! The back yard is nicely landscaped & a great place to relax. We would stay there again.

If you wish to stay at a place that is out of the ordinary, and be taken care of by wonderful people (the owner couple, Jon and Lois) you have come to the right place. We decided to stay at the Horse and Chaise Inn for quiet evening, peaceful sleep and fabulous breakfast before heading on to the hustle and bustle of the beach for a week. Our overnight stay was wonderful! The accomodations were charming and the city of Venice, absolutely beautiful. Our breakfast of carrot cake pancakes with fresh fruit was delicious. We both have decided that when we return to Florida this will be the place to stay.

The whole experince was fanatastic, Lois made me feel very welcome, taked about our two countries over breakfast. All in all, I was very satisfied with the stay.

In March 2011 we had a one night stay at this B&B. We should have stayed longer as it felt like we'd come home but with better service! Jon and Lois are charming. Lois really made us feel at home and her knowledge of the area is invaluable. Everywhere is kept beautifully and breakfast was delicious (apparently it's different every morning). The attention to detail is wonderful - like a jar of cookies available to be eaten! Cold drinks in the fridge, bottles of water for your room and the use of the kitchen to make sandwiches for our onward journey. The gardens are delightful, a lovely deck area to sit on in the evenings, and it's positioned well to walk to the shops and restaurants. Beaches in the area are beautiful and we even spotted dolphins and found sharks teeth. All in all this place comes highly recommended. Liz & Fred from Holland

I travel for my job and decided to stay at the at the Horse and Chaise Inn. The owners were pleasant and friendl. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was great! I would definately stay there again.

What a pleasant surprise. This is probably the cleanest B & B we've ever visited, and the room was large and airy. Lois gave us a great tour & provided a wonderful breakfast, and we got to know some of the other guests. We will certainly recommend the Horse and Chaise to our friends, and I suspect we'll be back in the near future - just for the wonderful relaxation.

If you know Venice or if you don't, the Horse and Chaise is a great place to stay. It's easy walking distance to downtown, parks and the beach but in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms and breakfast are just right, not overly fussy. The deck is terrific. We had our dog with us so stayed in a sort of mini-suite in a separate building. We would certainly return with or without our dear dog.

We had a wonderful stay at the Horse and Chaise Inn. Most everything we wanted to do was in easy walking distance of the Inn. Jon and Lois are wonderful. We were made to feel like we were at home. The Inn is beautiful. Our second floor room was bright and sunny. The breakfasts were delicious and could even be made to order in some instances. We would highly recommend Horse and Chaise Inn. I know we will plan to go back again and again.

Fantastic place with terrific host and hostess, can't wait to go back. Venice dCenter chock a block full of delights as well. This was simply a delightful retreat. The town of Venise was charming. The owners were so sweet and informative. The rooms were remarkably confortable. The meals were delicious, and the company was entertaining. I would recommend this to anyone wanting an enchaning get-away.

The bed was extremely comfy, the room and bathroom were very clean. The hostess was a bit intense, but nice , HOWEVER the breakfasts were horrendously awful. After the first morning of something with mushrooms and kale and curdled cream in our coffee, we decided that anyone can have an off day and returned the next morning full of hope. Hope was immediately dashed when we were served instant oatmeal or in this case gruel. On our third and last morning we took a pass and wandered downtown for a heavenly cup of coffee and a sumptuous breakfast.

Delightful B&B. Clean, beautiful rooms, wonderful breakfasts. The innkeepers were very welcoming. They not only made recommendations and reservations for us at some of the nicest local restaurants, they also invited us to join them at the local park for a wonderful holiday event. We would highly recommend the Horse and Chaise Inn to anyone who wanted a unique experience at a very reasonable price. If we're ever on Florida's west coast again, we'd stay at this B&B in a heartbeat!

This was a lovely change from the hotel we usually stay in near the beach. Lois and Jon have created a friendly and comfortable atmosphere while maintaining privacy for guests. We will be back again!

We really enjoyed our stay. We were given lots of infor on the area. We were provided with lots of little extra's. The was very good. It had enough room that we could totally relax. It was within walking distance of almost everything.

Recently we had the pleasure of staying at the Horse & Chaise in Venice Florida. As soon as I walked in the door I felt like I was home. The house was adorable , the owner Lois greeted us as soon as we came in the door and I felt like I was at Grandma's. She talked to us about the house, the rooms, the history of Venice and I was immediately in love. Once settled into our room ,(which we stayed in the Patriot Room and everythign about that was perfect) we took a walk to the main street ( about a stone's throw away) and fell even deeper for this small town. I love community based places and this certainly was one. Long story short my dearest friends were to get married ...on the beach no less and in January. Well, needless to say it turned out to be 32 degrees on the beach and the bride was so upset. Who comes to our resuce but Lois and Jon the inn's owners. They were so ..beyond words wonderful. I thanked them profusely and Lois said no problem. But not only did she open her house to us , the bride, the groom and 30 + guests, she decorated, helped us to make this a memorable event. So if you ask me where would I stay the next time I visit Venice? I would say without a blink Horse & Chaise and we love you Lois & Jon ............. we WILL be back !

Spend three days of our honeymoon there and felt like at home. It was really nice, comfortable and clean. The hosts were so nice and helpful and the breakfast was great, too.Really can recommend this place to everyone!! Stayed in the Ringling Room, which was great too!

We stayed here 2 years ago and unfortunately, I was sick the whole time. The owners were wonderful and took care of me. My husband then got sick too and we felt like we were home-they are great people and the place is beautiful! A must see for anyone in Venice, FL! The food they prepared could only be compared to a five star restaurant-top notch!!!
