The Speakeasy Inn was the home of Raul Vasquez, who was a cigar selector at the Gato Cigar factory. Raul's true passion was rum-running between Key West and Cuba. The Speakeasy's renovation has preserved the original 19th century spirit of Old Town Key West. The decor is traditional of old Key West.     My friend and I stayed the week of 6/6/11 at the Speakeasy and were absolutely delighted that we had discovered this charming, fun, centrally located B & B. We were two married ladies on vacation without the husbands. The grounds, rooms, bar were immaculately maintained, with lots of clean, FRESH linens. It didn't hurt at all that the "Rum Bar" was down stairs with a gazillion different kinds of rums (along with other drinks). In fact, there is a discount for the drinks if you are staying there. The kitchenette has everything you need to stay there very comfortably. Best of all, were the employees - with of course John being our favorite. They made our stay SOOO much fun, as though we were long time friends or relatives. There is no pool, but a two block walk to the south is the beautiful beach, and Southernmost Bar & Cafe serving all meals and drinks while you watch the ocean. It is right on Duval Street, but a few blocks away from the very loud, hectic section, with still plenty to do. I recommend the Speakeasy to anyone, young, old, couples, everyone will have a great time staying there. I fully intend to make the Speakeasy my future vacation spot from now on for Key West. Say hi to John for us - the most diligent, fun manager I've ever met.
