This recipe has been an incredible hit.

Since I've never been much of a fan of plain old blueberry anything (fresh blueberries is another story) I decided to dress up our ordinary fresh baked blueberry bread by replacing one item and adding a couple of new ones to the batter. Try it... you will absolutely love it!

First... replace water called for in recipe with orange juice.

Then... add the following add'l ingredients to already mixed batter:
      3/4 cup drained pineapple
      1 cup shredded coconut
2 large spoonfuls of sour cream
      3 T. oil

Mix all ingredients together and spread into greased pan. Bake approx. 50 minutes @ 350 F. or until knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

"This is so incredibly good there won't be any leftovers... believe me!"

The Writer's King is located at the end of our second floor balcony located directly over the Lagoon where you can listen to our gentle waterfall on cool evenings.

Featuring a King size bed with Tiffany reading lamps, the Writers' King has a private bath, phone, cable and lots of A/C. One will most certainly be able to enjoy their vacation at our centrally located Garden House. And do not forget you can have your Continental Breakfast Lagoon side or sitting on your balcony. Isn't it nice to know you have options!

Note: This room is located on the second floor.Decorated in a comfortable island style... the Hibiscus Room is located adjacent to our heated lagoon style pool, and houses a queen size bed, and private bath. The theme is truly Key West with its white wicker furnishings and palm comforter. French doors open to a semi-private porch shared by the Bougainvilla Room next door. The floors are colored in Mexican tiles, and the soft green walls emit a feeling of coziness throughout.
With its rich wood flooring, triple windows, wood and cane furnishings, double night stands, metal sculpted palm lamps with intricate shell shades, and writer's desk this room is spacious and "oh so" comfortable. Fern green tiles line the more than adequate size bath, with dual shower heads, pedestal sink and commode. The largest of our rooms... the West Indies King has full use of the front porch after hours where one can enjoy the evening breeze, wine in hand, and the lush tropical landscape - cascading hibiscus provide privacy from passer's by and the night blooming jasmine intoxicates the mind. One of our newest rooms... Island Dreams is decorated in rich wood and cane furnishings, with photos of exotic tropical palms and low lighting of wood and pineapple based lamps. An intimate fern green tile covers the bathroom walls which house a single head shower and commode. The in-room pedestal sink and full length mirror make preparing for a night on the town simple and effective.

You enter this room from a side porch entrance, which meanders along a tropical pathway filled with the scent of jasmine.
This room is decorated in a tropical motif, with a palm matelassé and herb-green pinstriped bed skirt. There are wood furnishings throughout, along with nautical prints and knick-knacks. A cane chair is provided for reading and the oversized bench provides for additional seating. Double doors open onto our second story landing where you are only steps away from a beautifully landscaped upper deck.

Both share a large semi-private deck which has access to both the front yard and the pool area, with the bougainvillea room being closest to the pool. This setup works out perfect for couples traveling together but still wanting their privacy.

The large deck is great for socializing or lounging around all afternoon. In the evening it's great to take a quick dip in the pool and then join your friends for cocktails and conversation.
The Double Delight is a large room consisting of two double beds, an in-room vanity and separate private bath, with shower and commode. In addition to the two full size beds are a triple dresser, full length mirror, color television, A/C unit, luggage rack and miniature refrigerator.

The lushly landscaped area provides ample shading to enjoy your continental breakfast or late afternoon libation. The Royal Poinciana in full bloom, in early May, is a sight to behold, and don't miss the adorable buds of the surrounding miniature roses that line the outer edge of the deck.

Although nearly every attraction available in Key West is close enough to walk to there will be times when you just want to spend an afternoon taking in the sights and sounds of the area, exploring the layout of the land, and snapping photos of yourself in front of some of the grand homes that line the streets of Key West. At happy hour you'll discover the charm of our heated lagoon style pool with spa jets and a cascading waterfall, surrounded by tropical gardens that weave throughout the Inn grounds. Along with our beautiful grounds, and nightly happyhour, you'll also be treated to a continental breakfast each morning.

Located on the second floor, four sets of louvered windows allow for a constant breeze to drift through. The walls are painted in shades of moss green with natural cane and wood furnishings. Wall mounted reading lamps provide ample light when needed, as well as a conveniently placed chair for reading, lounging or watching television. A full-length mirror is provided so ladies can make sure they look their best for a romantic evening or a night on the town!
There is so much to do in Key West, it is near impossible to try and fit it all into one trip. I guess that means you'll be back, huh?!
The Bougainvillea Room is located just steps from our heated pool and adjacent to the Hibiscus Room. Both share a large semi-private deck, which has access to the front yard and the pool area, the Bougainvillea Room being closest to the pool. This arrangement is perfect for couples traveling together: plenty of common space and plenty of privacy. The large deck is great for socializing or lounging around all afternoon. A hectic Key West schedule may look something like this: take a dip in the pool and then join your friends for cocktails and conversation. Soak in the tub after a long day at the beach, and take in the unique feeling of island relaxation.
The Conch Tour Train is one of the most popular Key West attractions, this little locomotive has been entertaining visitors since 1958. The train can give you a great overview of some of the other attractions on the island you might want to check out. It has carried over 15 million visitors, including Ernest Hemmingway.Subtropic Dive Center runs regularly scheduled trips on each of their boats. In addition to their regular trips, each boat is availble for private charter.
The 49 passenger power catamaran allows you almost two hours of snorkeling time in a three hour trip. You will visit two separate locations at the Living Coral Reef. Expert instruction makes it Fun & Easy even for beginners. Speed gives the catamaran the flexibility to go where the conditions are the very best!

Make sure to reserve an evening to experience the Key West Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square. Once a bustling seaport, Mallory Square now is the location of a nightly gathering to honor the sun as it dips into the Gulf of Mexico, where artists, street performers, psychics and food vendors display their skills to tourists and locals alike. For those of our guests that are looking to have a few drinks and take in the scene at the local watering holes, we are two blocks away from the classic Key West hot spots like Schooner's Wharf, Guy Harvey's Island Grill, Sloppy Joe's, Hog's Breath Saloon, Captain Tony's and dozens of others, all filled with your new best friends! In fact, Garden House is within walking distance to over 30 bars and restaurants!
Within a block or two of Garden House, visit the seaport area of Land's End in Key West, where Turtle Kraals Restaurant and the Raw Bar Restaurant draw crowds of tourist's and local alike. The first turtle soup cannery opened in Key West in 1849. These originators operated with some success until 1890, when a restaurateur named Armand Granday opened his turtle cannery. In short order he came to dominate the industry. With his cannery conveniently situated right on the dock, turtles were brought in from the sea, kept in the kraals along the shore and fed until they went to the cannery.

While Key West doesn't close down for Siesta hour anymore, things still slow down in the breezy afternoon hours. Time to kickback and unwind with a cold cocktail as the live music continues.

Enjoy the party in Sloppy Joe's main bar or visit our other room: the Backroom "a saloon behind the stage" it offers the same great drinks, food, with Satellite to watch all the games on Big Screen TV.

"Still the best party in town!" Sloppy Joe's turn's it up a notch at night. The band rocks until 2:00am, and tables are cleared for dancing into the night.
