Fern Cottage B&B

We spent 10 wonderful days over the Christmas and New Year vacation in this B&B. I drove in from Miami and met friends and family who had arrived there before me. I was transported from hot and muggy Florida to a gentle and sweat British cottage under the tropics. The owner is the most extraordinary and graceful person and she took care of each one of us with so much kindness. The place is pristine, well located with all modern appliances. I would have stayed an extra month if I could. The place is a little jewel, the garden is magnificent, it is a gorgeous getaway. Many many many thanks for making this vacation so special.

My husband and I stayed at the Fern Cottage for 3 nights and we couldn't have picked a better place. We stayed in the north suite which was roomy, very private, comfortable and decorated beautifully. Freya was the most wonderful hostess and took care of us with whatever we needed. She has a beautiful back yard where we swam in her pool and bbq'd dinner on her gorgeous patio. The whole place is spotless and clean. In case you forget any toiletries or supplies, Freya will most likely have some for you. The location of this bed and breakfast is very convenient to all the spots we wanted to visit. We will definitely be back to visit Fort Lauderdale and most of all we would love to see Freya again! We stayed for 7 nights and booked the North suite. Everything about our stay was first class. The cottage is beautifully furnished throughout and our room was a delight- bright and airy, great attention to detail and next to the swimming pool. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and Freya is the perfect host - warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble (she even did our laundry for us!!). If you are thinking about staying here then don't hesitate - book it and enjoy a quite glass of wine or a gin and tonic in the wonderful garden before you sample some of the great local eateries. Our only disappointment was that we could only stay a week - we could happily move in and we will definitely return!

Our recent stay at Fern Cottage was our first B & B experience and it more than exceeded our hopes and expectations. The accommodations were comfortable, well appointed and inviting. The cleanliness of the bedroom and bath was very much appreciated (we frequently question the cleanliness of hotel rooms.) We enjoyed the surrounding decks and gardens which were lush, beautiful, and organized into a variety of relaxing areas. It was nice to have a quiet, private pool as well. Many hotels charge for daily parking, but we were able to park our car in the driveway of Fern Cottage. Best of all was getting to know Freya, the owner. She hosted our stay, and provided us with friendly service, lively conversation…. and total privacy, whichever was appropriate for the time. It is obvious that Freya puts a lot of loving care into her B & B. Fern Cottage is where we will stay from now on when we are in Fort Lauderdale. Phil & Susan

We cannot say enough good things about Fern Cottage and Freya! Her home is even more beautiful than the pictures. From the moment we arrived Freya made us feel as comfortable as though with family. The bedroom is dreamy with comfortable bed and bedding. The bathroom is beautifully decorated with spa-like quality. We enjoyed the pool area with adjacent lush gardens - colorful by day and romantically lit at night. Breakfasts were top-quality favorites served on elegant china. We were overwhelmed by Freya's helpfulness and attention to ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We look forward to our next visit. We had a wonderful time at Fern Cottage. It is a peaceful and serene place to stay in Fort Lauderdale. Freya makes you feel so welcome and comfortable in her home. She is attentive to her guests needs. She is very knowledgeable about the area, and made great suggestions for ways to spend our day, and restaurants to enjoy. Our breakfast was delicious every morning. Freya asked what kind of food we liked, and planned meals accordingly. Her gardens are beautiful, with cozy places to read and relax. The outdoor lighting at night, is so nice. The pool is clean, and refreshing. We were happy we had the chance to stay at Fern Cottage, and hope to return again. It would be so nice to have another cup of tea with Freya. Thanks Freya!!

I've travelled widely and know what to expect from hotels of all sizes. For me somewhere like Fern Cottage is ideal - all the comfort of an established hotel but with the personal touch that makes you feel really at home. Choice of breakfasts, the use of all facilities (TV, PC, BBQ), access to the outside deck and pool, even the use of Freya's car one evening!! We also had an evening meal prepared the night we landed from England. The cottage itself is very attractively furnished and close to shops and beaches. It gets a strong recommendation from me and my party.

Fern Cottage was everything I hoped it'd be. The pictures do not do the place justice. The rooms were tastefully decorated, modern; the backyard garden and reading areas were just as advertised. It's obvious that much care goes into the place, and just as much care is provided to guests. I was a solo traveller, and Freya was a wonderful hostess, and travel guide. Fern Cottage is most recommended. It was within a short ride to the beach, shopping and airport. You will want to return.

WOW is all I can say, what an amazing, tranquil, peaceful place to stay. The service was just too good to be true, Freya you are the best. I did not want to leave as Freya pampered us so well. I cannot wait to come back and stay again. I would recommed this to anyone considering a bed and breakfast as this was by far the best one that I have ever stayed at. Its like having your own house, Freya even let me use her kitchen, computer and do laundry. Thank you Freya for being so wonderful and taking such good care of us... Cheers Gina

Freya is the kindest host you could have. I always book B&B’s when I plan a trip. Unfortunately I was hit by a drunk driver 19 days prior to my stay in Freya’s B&B and my girlfriend was killed. I did not cancel my trip due to the fact that I was attending a 50th birthday party for my brother. My girlfriend would have loved Freya’s tropical back yard setting and beautifully decorated home. As a B&B host she was top notch and very compassionate due to the difficult grief I was suffering from. I will have to say that staying in a cold sterile motel room would have been very difficult if not intolerable. I will be staying at Freya’s again some time in the future. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I loved Fern Cottage from the minute we walked through the doorway. Freya immediately put the kettle on and from then on I did not want to leave. She was always there to help in any way that she could, but she was never in the way. If you want to be pampered in an idyllic seting then Fern Cottage is for you. Andrea & Jim from Boston

Very peacefull place nearby the city-center and close to the restaurants and shops. Very nice garden with pool and reading-corner where you think you are in paradise. Very cosy room where it is nice to sleep in all tranquility. Freya is most helpfull to search all kind off things and concerning breakfast, she will do anything to please you. The way Freya pampers her guests is just amazing. Only our mothers can compete with Freya's lunch boxes. We were amazed by the sight of the "secret" garden with so many different hideaways. What a place! As we didn't bring a computer, Freya let us even use hers and the printer as well. Having breakfast with Led Zep playing in the background is never a bad way to start the day. Which hotel can ever compete with this kind of service? It's a shame the Atlantic Ocean is between us and Fern Cottage. We would definitely stay more often.

fern cottage is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been. the owner Freya is a wonderful,caring host! very knowledgable about ft. lauderdale n the many things to do! my husband n i plan on renewing our vows this year in her gorgeous gardens!!! can't wait to go back! just one thing if ur going to stay make sure u book plenty of time there cuz u will not want to leave!!!! kevin & lea ann

Fern Cottage B&B is a PERFECTLY lovely in-home B&B. The private pool area with fireplace surrounded by gorgeous gardens is a very special and private treat in bustling Fort Lauderdale. The owner, Freya, is an amazingly entertaining and sociable host. From the moment we arrived during Thanksgiving week we felt right at home. Nothing was overlooked when it came to comfort, amenities and detail. The 4 day visit was too short and we will definitely stay at Fern Cottage on our next visit to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. We named our GPS "Freya" after this new friend we met. All recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing trips were excellent. Kathy & Jim

My husband and I planned a getaway from NY to Ft. Lauderdale and a friend of ours referred us to Fern Cottage. I was amazed at the friendliness and hospitality of the owner. Our stay there was unforgettable. We would sit at night in that beautiful garden and listen to music and have wine. The room was fantastic and comfortable. Everything was very pristine all around the property. The owner catered to all of our needs going beyond what we expected. I loved how close it was to the beach and to the mall (I love shopping). Giving Fern Cottage a good review is the least I could do after the kind of service my husband and I received. It was simply amazing. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
