Addison on Amelia

I was looking for a quaint romantic destination to elope. After enless hours of research and reading guest reviews I decided on spending our week at the Addison on Amelia. It exceeded every expectation. Bob, Shannon and Leigh are very warm and welcoming. Be prepared to gain a couple pounds as the breakfasts and happy hour appetizers are phenominal. The B&B is immaculate and decorated beautifully. The Historic District is within walking distance and offers great shopping and wonderful restaurants. The only regret I had is that we did not book our trip for longer than 5 days. We will definitely be back. Thank you Bob and Shannon for making our week so special. Richard and Mary Cacciatore

My Wife and I were given a 1 night stay at The Addison by some friends as a wedding gift. We ended up using it for my wife's 30th Birthday weekend getaway. Even before I arrived at The Addison the staff was more than helpful over the phone, and once we arrived they continued to overly impress my wife and myself. From the extremely polite and happy staff and owners, to the amazing breakfasts that were served every morning with a smile, The Addison created raving fans with us. The only thing that makes me want to keep it to myself is so there will be an open room for my next trip. Great place, great location, great people!

We had never been to Amelia Island before and really did not know what to expect. I did know that I wanted to relax and just slow down and mellow out. The B&B was as important to me as the destination. The Addisom on Amelia far exceeded my expectations. The room was large and comfortable. Great porch and rockers. Coming from South Florida, we loved sitting and reading in front of the fireplace. Bob and Shannon proved to be excellent hosts. They were very helpful in giving us tips about the island and restaurant recommendations, (but It seemed as though every restaurant was better than the next). And who would believe that a "simple" breakfast in a B&B could be as good as any restaurant. Each day, the breakfasts and happy hour snacks outdid the last. Not to mention all the little things, not missed when they aren't there, but we noticed and appreciated them. Oh yeah, Amelia Island was nice too. Howard H.

Just spent a wonderful 3 days being spoiled and thoroughly enjoying it! Shannon and Bob were wonderful hosts in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed different and delicious breakfasts every day. Everything we wanted to do was a short walk. We particularly liked the walking tour of historical homes, the water tour around Cumberland Island, and the Amelia Island Museum. We will be back.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly and gracious. Their recommendations for dinner and activities were right on. The breakfasts were very special, they were as delicious as well as beautifully presented. This is a great place to unwind and feel pampered. The nearby activities are varied and will satisfy everyone.

Since the Addison was the fifth stay at various B&B's in FL, GA and SC- you rate the highest in room accommodations, decor inside and outside, the quality of your food service and daily "happy hour"- also the effortless manner in which you make all feel so welcome- you are truly tops on my list and will tell all about the Addison. Thanksgiving at the Addison House was a treat from start to finish. The house is beautiful, the accommodations were comfortable and, best of all, the breakfasts and Thanksgiving dinner were exceptional! We can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Amelia! Bob and Shannon really seem to love what they do and they do it very, very well. They have thought of every detail and make you feel at home. The room we stayed in on this visit was so very relaxing to be in.

We had a delighful small wedding, performed by innkeeper Bob Tidball at the Addison House and it was perfect! Stayed in room 3 and we enjoyed the size of room, lovely balcony, big tub, nice shower. Everyone was very accomodating and we plan to return every year to celebrate!

The inn exceeded our expectations. The owners were the most congenial and went out of their way to provide a very pleasant stay. The breakfasts were exceptional and presented in a 5 star manner. The owner arose very early on our departure date to provide us breakfast. The happy hour had excellent home made appetizers, a good selection of wine and beer and a chance to make new acquaintances. We will return whenever we visit Amelia Island.

This was our first b&b together and the experience was fantastic. Shannon, Bob and staff go above and beyond to make you feel like part of the family. The room we occupied was better than described, and the view gave us that southern homey feeling. Breakfasts were awesome, and afternoon wine time was engaging. Bob and Shannon deserve triple aaa's for their knowledge of things to do and where to dine. Please let us not forget...Maggie is a hoot. We'll be back!

The Addison is tied for our #1 favorite B&B. Walk to town, ride their bikes to the beach and Fort Clinch, awesome breakfasts and happy hour...the bottomless wine glass! We can't wait to go again.

Great place and wonderful hosts. Certainly exceeded our expectations in every area. Convenient to Fernandina Beach shopping, restaurants and waterfront. We walked everywhere. Bikes are available to visit the downtown, the beach or Ft. Clinch. Cookies/brownies are out every afternoon and a happy hour from 5 to 6. Best of all are the wonderful breakfasts each morning. All this while staying in a spotless, beautiful historic home.

Great innkeepers, amazing breakfast, fun happy hour, everything you could need from beach chairs to books and free water and chocolates. The place is beautiful and the owners really make you feel at home. I am convinced I found the best B&B on the island. Convenient location too.

We had a wonderful time at the Addison. The Addison is just as beautiful as the photos, and Bob and Shannon are lovely hosts. The food was absolutely delicious! We would definitely recommend the Addison for anyone looking to relax and unwind for a few days!

We spent two nights at this beautifully maintained bed and breakfast. My husband is not a fan of staying at B&B because he doesn't feel comfortable tip toeing around the house but this B&B gives you a lot of privacy because they have separate buildings with your own entrance. The rooms were very clean and nice. The breakfast was outstanding! The nightly 5-6:00 p.m. social allowed you to mingle with the other couples staying there. Great place!

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary at the Addison. We were so impressed with the bed and breakfast. The innkeepers were very helpful and friendly. The food was wonderful and we so enjoyed "happy hour" everyday at 5:00. We are definitely planning a return trip.

I have stayed at the The Addison on multiple occasions and would highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a bed and breakfast. The rooms are clean and have up to date furnishings. The property is beautifully designed and landscaped. The food is delicious and the innkeepers are wonderful! They are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. My husband and I recently had the sincere pleasure of staying at the Addison on Amelia. This was our first trip to the island and I would easily say it won't be our last. Bob welcomed us to the Inn and immediately made us feel welcome. He gave us a tour of the common areas, what amenities were available to us and where they were located. Our room faced the lovely courtyard. I enjoyed the pleasant sound of the fountain and all the greenery. After depositing our luggage in our room, we were treated to wine/beer and light appetizers. That evening we could smell the torts baking that we would enjoy the following morning for breakfast. The room was spotless and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The location of the Inn is ideal in that it is located a block from the historic district. Nothing was too far away. And, for those interested, bicycles and towels were available at the Inn for a ride to the beach. Definitely look forward to our next time on the Island and our stay at the Addison on Amelia.

This was my first time at a B&B and it was wonderful. The staff was super kind and very helpful. The rooms were romantically styled and kept exceptionally clean. I personally plan on a second visit.

We were hunting a place that would be special for our 50th anniversary and we found it at the Addison on Amelia. Everything was perfect, the room was beautiful, clean and extremely comfortable. The innkeepers Bob and Shannon were wonderful. They scheduled everything for us, dining, travel, even a carriage ride through the city. They were very attentive making sure that we were confortable and that we enjoyed our visit. The meals were delicious, and in the most beautiful setting. We enjoyed every moment and we will be choose to do this again soon.

Breakfast was delicious and more than plentiful. Happy hour was very enjoyable, especially meeting other guests and comparing notes on good places to eat and shop.

Very thoughtful in presentation of breakfest menu and evening hors d'oevres. Rooms, linens, bathroomfxtures and appointments all demonstrate great care and thinking. The innkeepers Bob and Shannon and their manager(their daughter) made our stay with them an integral part of the pleasure of our vacation.

The Addison is perfect. Our room was wonderful. 5:00 pm happy hour was delightful. Breakfast is yummy!The Inn is in a perfect location, very near downtown but out of the way. The resturant recommendations were fabulous. We had a wonderful three days.

The Addison on Amelia is by far our favorite place to stay. The Inn is nicely layed out and the innkeepers and staff are great. The social hour is not only a nice time for meeting other guests but the innkeeper uses that opportunity to make sure your evening meal/entertainment and next day activities are taken care of. If you need any reservations or suggestions, they are more than willing to help. When you depart, it's not just leaving a place of lodging but more like you are leaving family. That is how you are treated. It is an exceptional experience.

Hosts were exceptional and eager to please, could not be better. Atmosphere was friendly, attractive and relaxing. Very suitable for the surroundings of old,historic Fernandina Beach.

This is now one of our favorite B&B's. It was much more than we expected as first time guests. We certainly will be passing the information on to friends who are coming to this area. My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend at The Addison. It was more than we expected and exactly what we needed. Bob and Shannon were wonderful hosts. Their dinner recommendations were right on. The rooms were bright, incredibly clean and were beautifully decorated- cozy without being cheesy. Happy hour on the veranda was a great time to chat with other guests. Breakfast was AMAZING. Beach chairs, towel, umbrellas, bicycles were lent to us when asked. All in all a PERFECT getaway.

Again an excellent stay at the Addison. Bob & Shannon run a top-notch operation and are very warm, friendly and attentive hosts who still respect your space and privacy. My husband and I recently spent a week at the Addison on Amelia Island and it was the most wonderful place. The rooms were beautiful with very upscale ammenities such as complimentary robes and luxury sheets. There are so many positives about this B&B. The breakfasts were gourmet. They provided free bikes and towels, beach chairs and umbrellas for their guests use. It was especially wonderful for those like us that were flying in. The happy hour was fun and I loved the fact that we met so many new people from all over. So unlike a regular hotel experience. Bob and Shannon always made sure everyone had everything they needed and then some. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family and hope to return again soon.

We visited the Addison on Amelia for the second time in Mid April 2011. It is a special place. It's located in The Historic section of Fernandina Beach and it is great! You can walk to everything, restaurants, shops, and the marina. It's a unique place. Bob has beach cruiser bikes for your usage (complimentary), which he personally fits to your height! (What Service!). You can also borrow some beach chairs and head down to the beach, which is just a short distance. Shannon prepares delicious breakfasts, and the best cookies anywhere! Happy hour daily is a special touch, and all the guests are friendly and interesting. The rooms are nicely appointed, very comfortable and clean. My husband and I recently spent our honeymoon at Addison on Amelia. It was truly a delight. The breakfast and happy hour was always delicious. Bob, Shannon, Lee and all of the staff were always pleasant and helpful! A special thank you to all of them!

We had a wonderful experience at the Addison. The room was large, immaculate and well-appointed. The Innkeeper was very well-suited to the task and welcomed us and provided everything we could have possibly needed. The Inn is a very short one block walk to the main street, where there is an abundance of restaurants, shops and other amenities. This is at the top end of Inn experiences and a good value.

Addison on Amelia is the best B&B we have ever encountered. It is clean, neat, comfortable and private. The service from top to bottom is exemplary and the breakfasts and other amenities are as good as one can find. The staff is warm and friendly and they make everything as perfect as one can imagine for a relaxing stay away from home. I would highly recommend this pretty place to anyone who might have the opportunity to visit the charming town of Fernandina Beach.

I would highly recommend Addison on Amelia for a relaxing retreat. The service was wonderful, the rooms were clean beautifully decorated. Bob was a wonderful host. He did everything possible to help us enjoy Amelia Island. Having bikes to use to tour Fernandina or ride to the beach was an extra treat. Breakfast was wonderful each of the three days we were there. I would love to go back again!

My boss and I scheduled a weekend at The Addison as a weekend "workcation" to get out of frigid Chicago to do some serious strategic planning. We were warmly welcomed by innkeepers Bob and Shannon and their adorable dog Maggie Doone. We're dog trainers so we were especially excited to see a four-legged friend in the house! Each breakfast prepared by Shannon was a delicious start to the day. Bob made us comfortable in our "office" aka the sunny dining room. Each evening, we socialized with the other guests staying at the inn during a lovely happy hour complete with tasty snacks. The rooms were beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable and impeccably clean. I enjoyed sitting on my porch with a cup of tea each morning. Bob was extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations and we ate very well during this trip. The local dining scene is quite impressive. I wished we got to see more of the sites, but that's just another reason to go back for a real vacation!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay at Addison on Amelia. The location, accommodations, daily breakfasts, and happy hour were outstanding. You won't find more delightful innkeepers than Bob & Shannon.

We spent the first 2 nights of our honeymoon here before heading off to CO. The room was very nice with a very comfortable bed and a nice whirlpool tub. Bob and Shannon were very nice and accommodating. The breakfast were good, elevated home cooking; much better than your usual continental fare. The wine social in the evening was nice as well. We would definitely go back.

Addison on Amelia is a charming getaway in a delightful little town. The room was cozy and welcoming and our hosts did an excellent job of helping guests mingle. The food was exceptional. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Spent three days at the Addison for New Year's and had a marvelous time. The gourmet breakfasts exceeded anything we had experienced from any other B&B. The architecture compliments the Victorian Style that is prevalent on Ameila Island, yet the interior is neat and modern. The accomodations were spacious and comfortable. Concierge services such as champagne and cheese plates were available and made our evenings. The B&B offers a happy hour that must not be missed. All that and Ameila Island is an extremely attractive community that is well worth exploring. We will be back this summer.

We stayed at the Addison for three nights and we wish it had been for longer. We had a great time. The breakfasts were so great. Something different everyday and so delicious. Shannon cooks everything. It feels like you are guests in their home. The rooms are beautiful and clean. We will be going back for sure. We made great friends at happy hour so make sure you go to that. Bob and Shannon were great hosts and made us feel so welcome. This is the only place to stay on Amelia Island.

My wife and I just spent two nights at the Addison on Amelia to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time! The innkeepers made our stay very comfortable. The breakfasts were terrific!

Had another wonderful stay again, this time at Thanksgiving. Bob and Shannon outdid themselves with a excellently planned Thanksgiving Day. The big day not only included breakfast, lunch, and a very filling and tasteful Thanksgiving dinner, but the narated horse drawn carriage tour through the historic area of Fernadina Beach was exceptional. Need to check out all the various sized nutcrackers brought out at Christmas time. Looking forward to the next stay.

We have stayed in many B & B's throughout the country and I can't think of a one that can quite compare to the Addison. The owners make you feel so at home and welcome and I think that's what makes the Addison stand out. The "Happy Hour" was so much fun with Bob and Shannon facilitating conversation amongst the guests. We can't wait to go back and I am sure we will return many times with friends from the Atlanta area. The Inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas with some professional help and I have never seen anything so beautiful. It really should be in a magazine!

We visited the Addison Bed and Breakfast for the first time and what a wonderful experience! Why would anyone stay anywhere else? Bob and Shannon, the Innkeepers, welcome every guest promptly and explain everything about the Inn in detail. They are most accommodating and the breakfast is out of this world! Really. Their cocktail hour is also truly a pleasure. The rooms are clean, cozy, nicely appointed and comfortable. We will return.

We enjoyed the beautiful courtyard and happy hour. Bob and Shanon are great hosts and the breakfasts were very good and filling. Walking distance to nearby resaurants and shops but on a quiet side street across from many historic homes. I highly recommend it.

Thursday to Sunday stay. Excellent room. Beautiful, well-maintained property. Great location. We walked everywhere. Enjoyed interacting with other guests and Bob & Shannon at breakfast and cocktail hour. Breakfasts were great and so filling we did not eat lunch. We will definitely return to the Addison.

My husband and I were married at the Addison and also had our honeymoon there. This was our first time visiting and my husband's first time to Flordia. The trip was better than we could have ever expected and we have nothing but great memories. Bob, Shannon and Lee plus the Addison Staff are great people and are very welcoming and go above and beyond to make your stay great!

We had the best time at the Addison on Amelia this last weekend. My husband and I stayed at the inn for four days celebrating our 25th anniversary. Bob, our host, was very gracious and loved spending time with each and every guest making sure their stay was special. Happy Hour was a blast every evening and we met so many nice guests during that time of the day. Saturday, we all ended of at a neighborhood sports bar watching the University of Florida and other college teams play ball. Bob was full of suggestions for restaurants and activities on the island. You can not beat the location!

Celebrated my man's 70th birthday on Amelia Island. Not only did the weather cooperate but the Addison was a haven. We felt vey welcomed and our room was my vision of what a B&B should be like. Breakfast was special and the coffee was excellent. All I can say, we would choose to return and we highly recommend the B&B.

Spend just two nights, but still managed to have a wonderful time. Very relaxing -room was spacious, spotless, and with all the nice little extras. Had the "romance package" - definitely got our moneys worth out of it! Already looking forward to our next visit.

Our weekend stay at the Addison was one of our most memorable short trips. Bob and Shannon are amazing host and the facility is just what we needed. We are very busy people and our daughter thought we needed a relaxing weekend. She could not have selected a better place. We loved it!!!!

I loved the Addison and Fernadina Beach. I had a last minute special two-night rate that made it affordable so I decided to make it a mini-vacation at the start of my travels to visit family. I didn't want to leave since I was so comfortable there. You can walk to shops and restaurants, and walk or bike to the beach. Bob and Shannon are wonderful hosts with a great ice-breaker happy hour and delicious breakfasts! My room was pretty, clean and comfortable. I will definitely go back!

My girlfriend and I don't get to see each other often during the year so I plan a weekend trip for us every summer so that we can get together and catch up. This year we chose Amelia Island for our getaway and because my husband and I had stayed there before and loved it, we chose the Addison as our place to stay. The B&B is beautiful and is in walking distance to the shops and restaurants in town. You won't want to get out of bed in the morning because the beds are so comfortable! I had the pleasure of staying at the Addison on Amelia in July this year. I have stayed in many a B&B but never has a B&B surpassed my expectations to the extent the Addison did! The accomodations are perfect, the people pleasing and the food outragiously good! There was a atmosphere of fun among all the guests and staff. I have just returned from a stay at the Addison on Amelia. The trip was wonderful. It was truly a pleasure to stay at this beautiful home. The room was very spacious and the accommodations were fantastic. Breakfast was served late...even though my wife and I sleep in the first morning! I know that this is not customary, but such a treat. The owners are very attentive to your needs and go out of their way to satisfy you. I can still hear Bob saying "...Do you have everything that you need...Is there anything that you want?!?" Now that is true hospitality. The room was decorated very nicely. They provided DVDs for viewing at no additional charge. The sheets and towels were incredible. The house was always clean and the staff was very professional! I enjoyed Amelia Island, it's antique shops, restaurants, the beach and river cruises, but the real clincher was The Addison on Amelia! Bob, Shannon and their daughter are true Inn Keepers. I will return again.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at the Addison - room #7. It was lovely and comfortable. Bob and Shannon not only served a delicious breakfast but, since we were there over the 4th of July provided the guest with a cook-out. Bob did a super job with the burgers. We loved Addison on Amelia for many reasons - beautiful B&B with light, airy decor; lovely "happy hour"; great recommendation for dinner; outstanding service; immaculate room; incredible hosts; and a fantastic value! We were traveling through FL and wanted to break up our drive. We booked two nights and stayed the weekend at the Inn. We enjoyed the Inn and especially our room. We stayed in Room #8 which had a private porch on the front of the house. We logged a lot of hours on the porch. Perfect place to drink your coffee morning or night. The bed was amazing and we slept great. Soft sheets, great mattress, and you sink into the pillows. We are used to having a a ceiling fan and were very happy to find one in our room. The shower water pressure was great. They also have bath salts and other amenities in the bathroom. We have certain things that we look for and the Inn had it all. My husband used one of their bikes to ride to the beach and just get out for a little bit. They have cookies and drinks available if you need a little pick me up. Historic downtown is just a block away and you are able to walk to restuarants and the marina. We ate dinner at Espana and it was wonderful. They are known for paella. It was reasonably priced and the food was great! That was our favorite meal in town. We were tired of driving from our trip so it was great to walk every where. The owners were great. My husband got up at 5:30am one morning and went looking for coffee - Bob brewed a fresh pot for him. He was already up. However, they do have a station for coffee and hot tea so you can have it any time of the day. I would recommend this for a weekend getaway. We really enjoyed ourselves - very relaxing!

If you're thinking of staying at the Addison on Amelia, I highly recommend you book right now. Very clean, beautifully decorated, warm and inviting. The breakfasts are amazing, and were actually the best meals we had during our stay on the island...too bad they don't serve lunch and dinner!! Bob and Shannon do a great job hosting the happy hour in the late afternoon; the only negative is that it's very hot on the veranda, and could use a few more fans to circulate the air a bit. I would definitely revisit The Adddison on Amelia Island again!!

The Addison on Amelia is a beautiful, clean and well run b&b. We felt so at home, yet were not imposed upon. The breakfasts were creative and delicious and the happy hour was so pleasant. We met other interesting guests there which made for a fun atmosphere. The beds were so comfortable and the place was quiet. The room was decorated in such good taste. Loved it and will return for sure.

My husband and I decided to spend our 1-year anniversary in Amelia Island. After searching for places to stay, we instantly fell in love with the beautiful-looking Addison and all the services they offered on their website. After staying at the Addison we were extremely pleased with everything they provided - they went above and beyond to make our stay special. As someone who dreams of owning a B & B, I felt so inspired by all the little details they put into their B & B. You can tell they have stayed at enough themselves, to know what guests are looking for. I would/will recommend this B & B to all!

My wife and I spent our anniversary at the Addison on Amelia and couldn't have been more pleased. Bob, Shannon, and the entire staff were very accommodating. The room was clean, comfortable, and well furnished. Our breakfasts were outstanding and while we were not there to participate they offer a 1 hour happy hour with complimentary wine or beer. The inn is located near main street, so it is an ideal location for exploring the history, culture, and cuisine of Amelia Island.

We celebrated our first anniversary with three days at the Addison in early June. Bob and Shannon could not be more accommodating, and were quick to meet all of our needs. The food was great, and the environment was extremely laid back. We were exceptionally pleased with our stay.

The Addison on Amelia now tops our list of favorite B&B's. The property, which includes a faithfully restored main building and additions that blend perfectly with the original, was a perfect location for us to "decompress" after several very hectic and stressful months. Our room was very large, very well appointed, and included a porch where we were able to peacefully relax. The innkeepers, Bob and Shannon, were very helpful planning activities for us; they have a thorough knowledge of the many activities available on Amelia Island, including nature tours by boat and Segway (what a blast!), horse drawn carriage rides through the Historic District, fishing, the beaches, etc. Their restaurant suggestions were right on, and displayed their research into the pros and cons of all the local dining choices. Breakfast each morning was far above what we have experienced in the past at other properties. From the terrific coffee to the inventive main course, everything was delicious and well presented. Bob and Shannon are very personable and display a genuine caring attitude towards their guests. The afternoon "happy hour" out on the beautiful courtyard and rear porch included beer, wine and very tasty/creative food; the only problem was leaving room for diner later that evening. Worth noting is that the guests covered a wide range ages, from young newlyweds to couples like us, celebrating our 39th anniversary. We highly recommend the Addison both as a first class B&B, and as a great destination for a vacation that can be tailored from complete relaxation to high adventure.

Room and Service was excellent and Bob the Host had some funny stories to tell. We will be back in the near future because of all the B & B we have been by far this was one of the best. We wish we could have stayed for an extra day. We stayed in room 3 and we will pick that one again.

My new husband and I stayed at the Addison for 4 nights in May 2010. We wanted a quiet wedding getaway, and this ended up being a perfect choice. Bob and Shannon made everything so easy, from the ceremony to the flowers. Their attention to detail is evident in everything they do. The breakfasts and happy hours were lovely and if there was anything you needed, they were there to accomodate you! We will be back for our anniversary (or before)!

The best of our visit can be summarized by stating the top "B"s: 1-BOB, the innkeeper; what a terrific host! 2-The BED--3 perfect nights' sleep; no cash was spared for that purchase. 3-The BALCONY off our room-pure relaxation, ocean breezes, and great rocking chairs--what a way to unwind or greet the day. 4-The BEACH (the Inn is not near the beach but had to mention how sandy and clean it is.) My ratings were based on the following: 1-Rooms--look larger on the website than they are and although we had a private bathroom, it was also prety small. At least ours, in the main [historic] house, was. 2-Service--everyone was terrific--Bob was always around and helped us in numerous ways. The room was spotlessly clean--I think even the sheets were bleached and ironed! Do not expect turndown service however. 3-Value--We felt the price was a bit high considering everything, but then Amelia Island is an upscale place to go, so perhaps it's par for the area. 4-Cleanliness--as stated, immaculate! 5-Dining-the breakfasts were good, but not great. The website and some of the web ratings had us expecting them to be more gourmet and spectacular than they were. The coffee available all day needs attention; it was very weak. The courtyard was a wonderful place for breakfast. Things to consider when booking: 1-If you are diabetic or have a blood sugar issue, be sure to tell them when you book; every breakfast features a sweet of some sort. They are very accommodating in this way. 2-All of the buildings are 2-story, so keep that in mind when booking--there are no elevators in any of the buildings--only stairs. 3-The Addison faces Ash Street, which is a busy shuttle route for the beah hotels; also the Inn is one block from 8th Street, the main thoroughfare for town. If you're a light sleeper, don't book in the main house nor in a room facing Ash or 7th.

What a beautiful place! Located within walking distance to downtown Fernandina and a quick bike ride to the beach this is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Amelia Island. Bob and Shannon are their daughter Lee are amazing hosts. All of the staff were friendly and informative. The breakfast were delicious and creative, including a to-die for strawberry pie and hearty breakfast boat. Definitely enough for a man's appetite. Bob and Shannon have created a beautiful and peaceful courtyard setting which the veranda over looks. It's the perfect place to read a book in one of the chairs outside your room overlooking the courtyard. We did not stay in the main house, but in the building which surrounds the courtyard. Our rooms were spacious, very nicely decorated, not overdone with "stuff". They have a modern feel to them and the bath tubs are incredible! We had a group of nine women so we were loud and probably pretty demanding but Bob and Shannon were nothing but gracious to us. I can't wait to go back again.

We stayed at the Addison for two nights and were sad to have to leave -- everything was perfect. Our room was very comfortable, overlooking the courtyard. The innkeepers have thought of everything, and it's the little touches that make the Addison so special, such as: complimentary bottled water and candies in our room each day; free use of the bikes; a sign offering to stamp and mail postcards for guests...everything about our stay was perfect and we can't wait to come back and enjoy happy hour again soon!

This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast and it was outstanding. Bob and Shannon obviously love what they do, it shows in her delicious meals, the beautifully decorated and clean rooms, and the amazing grounds. Not to mention, they are warm and inviting! We did the elopement package and are so pleased. Bob made it warm and personal, exactly as we hoped. We highly recommened The Addison to everyone and will definately be back. It is also one block off of the downtown area so shopping, the marina and restaurants are very close and convenient. This place is so wonderful, as you are walking downtown, all you can think about it getting back to your wonderful room, sitting on your porch, overlooking the beautiful courtyard and enjoying the warm evening. Ahhhhh, we can't wait to come back!

The Addison is owned and operated by very warm, hospitable people. We had a wonderful time and hope to return someday - when we can stay longer! And, we'll certainly recommend it to friends!

We felt like we lucked it out by picking the Addison. What a lovely inn and what gracious inn keepers. Our room was charming and I felt as if it were decorated with an eye to guest comfort. Bob was always available and could snag a restaurant reservation in a few minutes. No problem. Shannon is a fine chef. Her recipes are great and she shares them. At five o'clock there is a cocktail party with wine, beer, and goodies-nice way to get acquainted with people, who were a great bunch. I fell in love with their front porch and spent many hours reading and napping in a large porch rocker. Go; you won't be disappointed.

This was our first time at a B&B and it will be a tough act to follow. I've always wanted to stay at a B&B and after reading the reviews for the Addison on Amelia, I knew this was the place for us. The picture of our room (room #5) on the website looked exactly how it did when we showed up. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated, the sheets and towels smelled like fresh laundry and were very soft, the bed was extremely comfortable, and nothing can top waking up to the smells of Shannon's breakfast. I was shocked at the value we got compared to paying the same price or more for a high end hotel. The fact that an amazing breakfast, happy hour, treats, water, etc were included in the room rate was such a pleasant surprise. Bob and Shannon provided everything you could ever need and we look forward to a return trip to the Addison.

The Addison on Amelia is a beautifully restored landmark in the historical district of Fernandina Beach. I am from NH and never really considered any place in FL as a destination until I found Fernandina Beach. I was visiting my daughter temporarily living in this area and she pointed out the inn on a walk through town. She said she had seen the inn used for a wedding celebration and delighted in its quaintness and beauty. I had the opportunity to spend 6 nights at the inn during January. I lucked into a "3 nights for cost of two" special. I was traveling alone at the time so I requested a smaller room and stayed in a lovely space in the garden area. The rooms are immaculate and well appointed. The sheets are like silk; so popular that you can actually order a set to be sent home. The hospitality is exceptional. My favorite time was the happy hour from 5-6 where I had the chance to meet some of the interesting guests and sip a glass of their very adequate house wine and a special appetizer treat each evening. Mornings are met with a delicious - over the top - breakfast. Since I eat oatmeal and yogurt 365, this was both a treat and almost too much. The food is prepared as you arrive, always thoughtfully planned and elegantly presented. Tables are set up so you can dine alone or join a group - either works fine. There are bikes available for exercising off the breakfast and you are only about 2 easy, flat miles from the beautiful 13 mile stretch of Atlantic Ocean. You are also within walking distance to the interesting downtown area with restaurants and shops. A few blocks away is a lovely historical museum of the island that provides lots of background on the homes you just passed and information on the inn too. Even in January which is the quiet time on the island, the visit was most enjoyable. The innkeepers seem as though they've been doing this forever - but they haven't and if you are lucky you will hear about their background too.

Sunny day, sunny Lee! or Leah? Anyway you spell it, the innkeeper's daughter greets you on the phone and in person the same way..with genuine interest, and a desire to make everything right. Shannon and Bob, innkeepers and owners, have done everything right--from the lovely linens on the beds, to a full breakfast (Shannon is happy to honor special requests) and fun happy hour (with delicious hummus and pita) to reservations at the local restaurants when needed. We just love this place, because of the value, the location (walking distance to all Fernandina Beach has to offer), the bikes we used to cruise the town and to Fort Clinch State Park (fun!) and because we always meet travelers from around the world right there on the porch, sharing stories and a glass of wine or beer. Go to Addison on Amelia--we may be back soon.

We stayed for 3 nights late March 2010. Our room was tastefully decorated, comfortable, and impeccably clean. We started our visit with the wine hour that Bob and Shannon offer. Very pleasant sitting on the outside porch and enjoying delicious snacks. We also loved Shannon's ginger snaps (in the bottomless cookie jar) and amazing breakfasts. Another treat was the free use of bikes which we used to explore the historic district and to ride down the Egan Creek greenway. Amelia Island has lots to explore and Bob and Shannon gave us recommendations for activities (e.g. boat excursion) and restaurants. The inn is a great home base for exploration and I'd recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I spent a week at the Addison. It is everything the photos suggest and more! Bob, Shannon and Lee did everything in their power to make our stay a pleasure. My wife suffers from food allergies and Shannon went way beyond what was expected in terms of accommodating her needs. The Addison is a charmer in every aspect.

My Husband and I spent 2 amazing nights in the Addison while on our honeymoon. It was both our first times staying at a B&B and we feel extremely spoiled! Shannon's cooking was amazing and we really enjoyed the time we got to spend with the other guests during happy hour (which was served nightly in the court yard), and hearing all about the adventures they were having on the island. This was the perfect B&B for us and we are so glad we found it and hope to be back soon!!! :)

My husband and I stayed three nights at the Addison and loved everything about it. Our room was beautiful and spacious and included every amenity you could think of. Bob and Shannon also hosted a happy hour every afternoon and were very gracious with their offerings. The happy hour gave us an opportunity to meet other guests and share the activities we participated in while visiting the area. The breakfast was also delicious. We were also able to walk to many restaurants and the historic district. I have frequented many B and B's over the years and I would say that the Addison is at the top of my list. You won't be sorry if you pick the Addison when you visit Amelia Island.

My husband and myself travel alot and love B&B's....by far this is one of the BEST we have ever stayed in. The hospitality, cleanliness and the morning breakfasts were wonderful. Our hats off to Bob and Sharon for a job well done. We will recommend it to everyone.

Addison on Amelia certainly ranks with the very best bed and breakfast inns we have experienced. Bob and Shannon Tidball are warm, outgoing people whose attention to detail ensures that their guests will feel welcome and well served. The rooms are most attractive, well appointed and spotless, with luxurious bathrooms. The happy hour (a nightly event) featured wine and beer, assorted hors d'oeuvres, and lively conversation. A perfect set-up for one of the several excellent restaurants within walking distance, which Bob and Shannon are happy to recommend. We ate at Les Clos, which was an intimate, gourmet experience. Breakfast was a demonstration of Shannon's excellent cooking skills, with table service by Bob. We can't wait to return.

This is about a charming place one could want to visit, with shops restuarants within walking or biking distance, and its off the beaten path! The courtyard and buildings are immaculate, but the best is the way Bob and Shannon treat the guests. First class service plus the personal "Happy Hour" touch with lots of humor gave us something to look forward to in the evenings. Our stay at the inn was beyond our expectations. Friends had raved, but we were just in awe as to the ammenties, cleanliness, and friendliness of the owners. The inn was appointed with nutcrackers for the Christmas season. It was a delight to see a full tree in our room!

Our stay at The Addison was short (only one night) but we were very impressed with the welcome we received (we arrived just in time for 'happy hour' on the porch and enjoyed a delicious glass of Merlot with an appetizer), the accomodations (room #14 and although small it was so comfortable and clean with the most luxurious sheets and pillows we've ever experienced!) and the very friendly and accomodating owners. Oh, and the breakfast was to die for: pumpkin muffin, melon cocktail and the best French toast with candied pecans. Awesome! We would highly recommend the Addison and we hope to make a return visit soon.

Our weekend stay at the Addison house after Thanksgiving day was oustanding to say the least. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Bob and Shannon went out of their ways to make sure that we feel welcome and pampered. Bob is always one step ahead of our expectation. He thinks of all the minor details and really is a great host and innkeeper. Shannon's baking and cooking are just to die for. We were impressed to say the least. It is hard to believe that Bob and Shannon has only taken over the Addison house for only two years. It seems that they have done this forever. The service, rooms, Dining are all top notch and more. We were four couples looking for a nice experience at Thanksgiving. We were more than pleased. The rooms were very nice. Bob and Shannon had decorated each one for the holidays....a Christmas tree in every room. Bob was an outstanding host. His recommendations never failed to please. We were trying to get away for a few days to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. We made reservations at the Addison twice and each time we canceled at the last minute due to work schedules and illness in the family. I knew we made the right decision when both times Bob and Shannon generously applied our deposit to a future visit. I guess it's true that the third time's a charm because upon finally arriving at the Addison even though we were early, when we walked into our room after a brief tour of the property, there was a chilled bottle of wine and cheese platter waiting just as we had aksed for... and it only got better from there. From the cleanliness of the room and attention to detail on the property, the delicious gourmet style breakfasts, afternoon cocktails and horse drawn carriage ride to Joe's Bistro which Bob arranged for us... it was nothing less than the perfect getaway. We would recommend a stay at the Addison 110%. We even liked the bed sheets so much that Bob and Shannon ordered a set and had them sent to our house. We can't wait to go back! Keith & Heather, FL

This B & B was extra ordinary! The rooms were so lavish and luxurious. I loved the fact that everything is thought through with a focus on being green! That was a huge draw. Did I mention the breakfast!!!!!! It was beyond anything I have experienced at other B & B's and restaurants. Happy hour with Bob and Shannon was a great way to end the day! It is difficult to find a B&B that can accommodate two women in two beds, but the Addison had the perfect room with two twin beds. My friend and I were made to feel right at home by the innkeepers. We relaxed with a glass of wine and tasty tidbits on the porch in the late afternoon with some of the other guests. Breakfast was elegant and delicious. We felt very pampered.

I knew from the beginning that the Addison was going to be different. From the moment you walk in, you are treated as though you are family. Addison on Amelia truly provided us with the perfect vacation. Our two main objectives for this trip were to renew our vows in a peaceful, romantic setting and to find lots of sharks' teeth and we did both! Bob and Shannon went out of their way to make our vow renewal an occasion we will always remember by ordering a bouquet for me and helping me schedule a spa appointment and dinner reservations. The ceremony was lovely and Bob did an excellent job of reminding us how blessed we are to have each other. The accommodations are outstanding and the sheets are beyond comparison. Rooms are lovely and tastefully appointed, breakfast was outstanding and The Tidballs make Happy Hour FUN! Fort Clinch was a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary and my husband found quite a few larger sharks' teeth. The downtown area is very quaint and we enjoyed the food and shopping. We are looking forward to planning our next stay and highly recommend the Addison for a relaxing, pleasant stay at an inn that exceeds all of your expectations.

We just returned from our second stay at the Addison on Amelia. If you are looking for a relaxing respite, this is a wonderful inn. It is what brought us back. The innkeepers, Shannon and Bob, are wonderful. They will provide you with what seems like everything you need to enjoy your time (beach chairs, towels, bikes, binoculars . . .). The rooms, as is the main house, are uniquely decorated, clean, quiet and relaxing. The ambiance is charming, welcoming and friendly. One of the perks of the rooms believe it or not are the sheets. They are silky smooth! Breakfasts and happy hours are highlights and not to be missed. Shannon aim is to please and her breakfasts will not disappoint. She truly tries to create and prepare breakfasts that are memorable. Special diets and needs are graciously accommodated. One thing that we have noticed on both stays and truly enjoyed was Shannon and Bob's warmth across the ages. While we were there this last time, there was a couple celebrating their first anniversary, a couple celebrating their 10th anniversary, a vacationing middle age couple - my husband and myself along with our 24 year old son, an older couple and a couple of friends just getting away together for a few days. All were made to feel welcome. Shannon and Bob were great at asking about plans, suggesting and arranging activities. Their daughter, Leigh, was also available to lend a hand. Their hospitality always seems to spread among the guests, becoming somewhat contagious, as observed during breakfasts and happy hours, when everyone staying at the inn warmly engages in conversation about themselves and about their experiences on the island. During a one week period of time, I had my first "two" bed and breakfast experiences. The first one was in Savannah, and it just wasn't what I expected and even upon checkout, I couldn't tell you who owned the place. However, when we got to the Addision, I felt that we had "arrived" and that it was exactly what I always thought a B&B would be like. Shannon, one of the owners, greated us warmly and was the perfect hostess. Her husband, Bob kept us on our toes with his quick wit and sense of humor. They took care of our every need and made happy hour each evening very comfortable by sitting with the guests and making everyone comfortable. The meals at breakfast and the happy hour snacks were very good. The B&B always smelled like home baked cookies because they provided them daily and it was like being spoiled by grandma!!! I loved having the bicycles available without a charge along with the beach chairs and towels. We got a lot of exercise going back and forth to the beach on the bikes and what an adventure! This was a fantastic B&B and I would recommend it highly!!

Addison B&B was the perfect choice for our Spring Break vacation. Breakfast and cocktail hour on the porch was a great way to socialize with guests. I enjoyed a late night coffee and homemade cookies available in the dining room. The innkeepers, Bob and Shannon are wonderful hosts. We even got to witness a beautiful wedding ceremony on the veranda. Amelia Island's historic district was a great choice to stay as it is close to the harbor, restaurants and shops and a short bike ride to the beach.

My partner and I stayed with Bob and Shannon in the middle of July, but with their excellent guidance we managed to beat the heat...on bikes, on the beach, with ice cream, and at happy hour...they were the perfect hosts, and the Addison was beautiful. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I recently chose the Addison as a romantic getaway destination and were so pleased that the inn was just what we were looking for! Bob and Shannon are wonderful hosts and do all that they can to ensure an easy and elegant stay. We loved the setting, proximity to historic district and restaurants, comfortable and beautiful room, as well as the deliciously prepared and presented breakfast. We travel a lot (and live in Europe) so it is particularly pleasing (and rare) to find a place like this that exceeds ones expectations. A true winner!

The Addison is an amazing place to stay. It was definitely a splurge for us, but it was worth every penny. Bob, Shannon, and their daughter, Leigh, were gracious and hospitable hosts. The breakfasts were better than the meals we had in town. It wasn't hard getting up in the morning knowing that breakfast was going to be so amazing. We stayed in Room 12. The sheets on our king sized bed were AMAZING! It's pretty bad when you go back home and realize that your sheets and your towels aren't as nice as the ones you used on vacation. (Heck, the same could be said for their toilet paper!) We truly felt like we were being taken care of rather than just coming back to a room to sleep. Bob and Shannon provided us with beach chairs and towels and Bob always provided us with stories of his travels during the daily happy hour. If we ever come back to Amelia we won't look to stay anywhere else. The Addison was perfect and everything we could ask for!

When we arrived at the Inn Bob assisted with the luggage. That was very nice. The Addison is beautiful. I must say I was very impressed how clean everything was at the Inn. The room was very nice. The bed and linens were just a delight. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and very hearty. They don't skimp on the food A+++++. They have beach chairs and towels that are of very nice quality. They have bicycles to bike to the beach but its really to far to be honest. Especially with towels and chairs that's just not going to happen. But a very short drive. You can walk to downtown and to the marina and blink of an eye. Our stay at the Addison was wonderful. Sometimes talking to Bob was a bit awkward. He has a little different personality. But he's nice and provides excellent service. I would defiantly recommend this Inn. Amelia is a quaint little town good for R&R.

Not really knowing when you book a room sight unseen, you know sometimes the pics on the net don't do the place justice.....this was a gorgeous B&B and the hospitality of Bob, Shannon and Leigh was great!!! My husband and I will be going back for another visit. We would recommend this B&B to all.

There is a very good reason why The Addison is at the top of the list for B&Bs to stay at when visiting Amelia Island. It is simply OUTSTANDING! My husband and I have stayed at The Addison on two separate occasions, and both visits were priceless! The breakfasts are delicious and served on a charming porch overlooking the courtyard. Though this Inn is conveniently located in the heart of Amelia Island, the environment is quaint and private. Happy hour should never be missed. Bob and Shannon host this daily gathering with all their wonderful guests who share their adventures over wine, beer, and incredible appetizers prepared by Grant. Speaking of Grant and things not to be missed: dinner! We have yet to find a better meal and it is served by the inn’s own gracious Leigh. The rooms are immaculate and kept so during our entire visit by the very efficient Kati. They are sinfully comfortable with luxurious bedding and towels, and beds that long to be slept in. They are also tastefully decorated to depict the beautiful Amelia Island. If you can pull yourself away from the inn during your visit, Bob will promptly provide bicycles, beach chairs, or beach towels to enhance your Amelia experiences. All the extras that Bob and Shannon provide are included in the price of the room, which we feel is worth every penny! Still on island time, Don and Carla

Great room, great location, great food, and great hosts. Loved all of it. The unique fountain courtyard and surrounding covered porches made us feel like we were in a grand southern mansion. Rooms were extremely clean and well appointed. Bob and Shannon have thourht of everything. We definitely will return.

My husband and I recently traveled to Amelia Island and stayed at the Addison on Amelia. Our stay was so wonderful. Bob and Shannon were very dedicated to giving everyone such an enjoyable stay. Their happy hour was a great time to meet the hosts on a more personable level along with the other people staying for the weekend. Shannon cooked a fabulous 3 course breakfast every morning, while Bob served and ensured all beverages were topped off and nothing else was needed. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job every morning making the room look like it did when we arrived. Not to mention, dinner at the Addison was so great we ate at the B&B twice over the 3 nights we were there. We were so pleased with our stay that we intend to go back soon just so we can get pampered more.

Wonderful place to stay. OUTSTANDING FOOD! Beautiful rooms. Walking distance to downtown area and close to the beach.

Accommodations, dinning, breakfest, shopping, things to do, and the owners of the Addison were stupendous, planning to return many times.

The staff is outstanding, the location great, the buildings very nice. The owner/operator is an exceptionally nice and helpful person. My only complaint is that the B & B is very expensive and the rooms very small (especially for the price).

Hello. My wife and I need a quick get away to ourselves away from our kids. The room was very nice. Roomy, lovely sheets, bathroom was excellent. The room service was above and beyond. During our arrival, I lost a button on my shirt. ( trying to wrestle my way from the kids) the inn keepers Bob and Shannon really do think of everything. They came to my rescue with sowing kit. This is just the little stuff that they offer that really stands out that makes a differences for someone like myself. Thank you for a great weekend Bob and Shannon.

Bob and Shannan are in the right business, thier attention to detail is evident in both the tangible and intangible. From the bed linens, pillows and meals to thier warm conversation the Addison on Amelia Island is so worth your time and money...now go and enjoy!!!

My wife and I have stayed in several dozen B&B inns over the last 20 years and this was one of the very best. I would generally agree with the very positive comments expressed by the other reviewers on this site.

We only stayed for one night (wife's birthday), but I must say that we were pleasantly surprised and will return at some time in the future. Clean, comfortable with outstanding service. Innkeepers were quite accommodating.
