Spent a couple of nights here recently. It was average. The building looked tired but the inside was quaint. Wasnt impressed with the dilapidated building 2 doors down especially as it was the first house on the street as you turn in. Gave the whole street a run down look Breakfast was varied each morning but was slightly disappointed as my expectations were based on comparison to the B&B's in the North East or at least an English Breakfast as the name of the Inn would suggest. First day was pancakes smothered in some sort of cherry sauce. I would have preferred that on the side with the choice of syrup. Yuk! They did have good bacon though!!!!! Second day was scrambled eggs which were cold and I cant remember what else,so it obviously wasnt memorable. Staff were very friendly and courteous so that was a plus.

My mother and I stayed at the Penny Farthing Inn for 3 nights. It was our first B&B experience and the inn came highly recommended to us. We were not disappointed. When we arrived, Matthew told us to think of the inn as our home and it quickly felt that way and remained so for our entire stay. Matthew was an excellent host! He provided information about activities in the historic downtown area and even made a dinner reservation (Including pick up) for us. Historic downtown and most attractions were within walking distance. Breakfast was excellent every day. I have dietary restrictions and Matthew and Betty graciously accommodated them. Afternoon tea, wine and snack were such a nice touch. We stayed in The Cambridge room which was spacious and quaint. This room was on the first floor (limited steps for my elderly mother) and had a king sized bed. Right outside of the room was a covered patio that we enjoyed as a reading spot. We hated to leave and will definitely be back!

Admittedly there are a couple other bed and breakfasts in St Augustine that are pretty good but the Penny Farthing is our favorite and we always stay there unless they are booked up (we plan pretty far in advance so that's rarely an issue). We have stayed in at least 4 of their rooms and have probably stayed with them easily a dozen times. This is our getaway spot, Dave and Marie are wonderful hosts and with them and Betty in the kitchen - breakfast is always a treat. Our favorite room is Penny's Attic - its a bit of a hike up the stairs but worth it to us. But any of the rooms that we have stayed in have been good. Our favorite time to go is in the cooler months and they can arrange for a carriage to pick you at the inn - well worth it. We went for the 4th of July this year and the fireworks were spectacular - but July in Florida is hot - we already have reservations for the 4th next year. Again - there are some good choices in St Augustine and we have tried them. But the Penny Farthing is the best.

Very convenient to historic St Augustine, parking is on site and easily accessible. The house is nice and quaint. Mid-day snacks were a nice feature, as were available drinks. Best feature is the breakfast. Both days I ate the food was excellent. The room (Windsor) was ok. AC was hard to control (fortunately on the cold side). Things that they seemed to want to provide were not actually stocked - there was a coffee maker and near empty coffee can, but not filters.

Stayed in the Catherine Bedchambers. Marie and Betty were fabulous and you always felt at home. The room was like a big warm hug. The house is far enough off of the noise of King street but within a few strides of some magnificent dining, shopping and sightseeing. I loved the ample and secure parking out of sight of the street. Gave a nice feeling of peace. There are three ghosts there (all friendly of course). We had a meeting with what we believe to have been the little girl. Our hairbrush lifted up off of the toilet, drifted to the right and then fell quickly to the floor. Both my wife and I laughed out loud. We can't wait to return and highly recommend.

We had an incredible time here. We came from Tampa for a getaway weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday. We accidentally booked one of the days wrong but they were nice enough to let us stay in the attic (honeymoon suite) that night. It was fantastic!!! Everything from the great service to a great location. This inn is in walking distance to everything and exactly where you want to be on St. Augustine. Thank you for he wonderful weekend! We can't wait to come back! Kasey and Brandon

The location was perfect! It is in walking distance to everything you want to do and there is plenty of parking at the Inn. The breakfast(s) were wonderful and home cooked and ready when you get there. The only thing that was not outstanding was just the condition of the house. It's old and could use some TLC. If you are looking for a place with charm and don't need hotel quality and state of the art amenities with a great location at an affordable price then this is a great choice.
