This was a beautiful old fashioned B&B! The couple that runs the place were as friendly and welcoming as my mother and father. We enjoyed a wonderful evening by the fire getting to know them and other guests before retiring to a very comfortable room and our jacuzzi for a very romantic evening. Breakfast was a feast with great company, and we were sad to be leaving so soon, but excited to go back! Love it, it's quaint, homey, and old fashioned. One of the nicest hotel experiences I've ever had!
We stayed at the Lion & Rose for one very cold evening. The Inn was delightfully warm and the inkeepers were welcoming. Our room was cozy and warm all night even with the subzero temperatures. Breakfast service was in keeping with the Victorian decor. The food was delightful. Mary
We had a wonderful time at the B&B. Chris and Roger were egger to make us as comfortable as possible. The Egyptian room was wonderful with the 2 person Jacuzzi tub and gas fireplace. Breakfast was amazing and we would definitely go back again! Yvonne & Billy
Chris and Roger are very personal. We felt like we were just part of the family. Had a couple other couples that have been going back to The Lion and The Rose for years and made it a very comfortable experience. Chris & Roger had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area. Great for us as it is the first time we have been up this way. I would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be back soon!
The Lion and the Rose is one of the most beautiful and lovely B&B's we have ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived Chris and Roger went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They are faultless in their hospitality and are extremely knowledgeable and helpful about local things to do/see and places to eat. Our room (The Lion's den) was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and the spa bath was the icing on the cake! We have recommended The Lion and the Rose to everyone we know and will definitely be planning a return visit. A huge thanks to Chris and Roger for making our stay and engagement such a wonderful and memorable experience!!
We having stayed in many a B & B but this one blew us away. It has the charm of an old Victorian "painted lady" and the spunk of Punch & Judy. Chris, the innkeeper and hubby, encourage you to sit upon the throne which lies in the front parlor and hold audience with a crown or tiara upon your head. We stayed in the Egyptian Room which was adorned with rugs, lamps and wall hangings, and yes, another throne The furniture was exquisite! We will try to return here often. Oct.14
Our room (The lion's den) was very clean and comfortable. We arrived at the inn early evening and we were not sure where to go for a dinner but the restaurant (The Inn ?? - I forget the name) that the host suggested was located near by and excellent.
I attended some meetings at the Mt. Washington Hotel but wanted to become more familiar with the area, so found the Lion and The Rose. It was a lovely 20 minute ride and took you around the mountail so you had a different perspective. The hosts were hospitable and although I did not participate in meals, the table setting and smells were enticing.
Chris & Roger are very friendly & accomodating. rooms are very comfortable and decorated in interesting and fun ways. house itself and public lounge area very victorian. great place to stay and great value.
Chris and Roger are very friendly people and they know what are able to advise you on the various services around their B&B. The rooms are super clean and we even had washer and dryer in the Avalon room. Convenient after a long day of hiking in Mounts Washington and Jefferson !
This was my first time staying at a B&B and The Lion & The Rose was an enjoyable & pleasant experience. Chris & Roger are so nice and made us feel so welcome. It felt like a home away from home. I really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast that we had each day. Chris was very helpful with suggestions of places to visit in the area. The next time I travel to this area, I hope there is a vacancy at the The Lion & The Rose. Leslie & Lloyd
Just got back from our second visit to The Lion and The Rose B&B. The proprietors Chris and Roger are lovely people who welcome you into their home. Their breakfast is outstanding and the themed rooms are comfortable and clean.
If you want to eat the most delicious breakfast, sleep in a lovely themed room with a private bath, have a glass of wine and cheese and crackers in the late afternoon, and enjoy the company of your charming and accommodating hosts, then The Lion and The Rose is the perfect B&B Get Away! The antique furnishings, stained glass windows, and the White Mountains in the distance make it memorable place to stay.
The owners were very pleasant people and cordial. They did not hesitate to accommodate with requests. The stay was quiet and pleasant. Though the rooms small, they were very cozy and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The breakfast was very nice and sociable. Something you do no normally see in a hotel or motel. All in all it was a very nice and if in the area I would book a night or two with them again. Thank you Lion and The Rose
Chris and Roger were very welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in the White Lilac room, which was both pretty and immaculately clean. The bed was very comfy, and the room has a coffee maker and a mini fridge, which I did not expect in a B&B. Breakfast was delicious and elegantly served. Roger was happy to tell us about the history of the house and give us a tour when we asked.
My wife and I went to the area for a relaxing weekend away only to find that our original plans fell through. We came upon this B&B and were welcomed with open arms. We couldn't have been happier this past weelend! Roger and Chris went out of their way to make us feel at home, provide a wealth of information about the area, delicious breakfast, wonderful rooms, and overall wonderful time! We felt like family all weekend! Look forward to going back again in the future!
