This was my first time staying at a B&B and The Lion & The Rose was an enjoyable & pleasant experience. Chris & Roger are so nice and made us feel so welcome. It felt like a home away from home. I really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast that we had each day. Chris was very helpful with suggestions of places to visit in the area. The next time I travel to this area, I hope there is a vacancy at the The Lion & The Rose. Leslie & Lloyd
Just got back from our second visit to The Lion and The Rose B&B. The proprietors Chris and Roger are lovely people who welcome you into their home. Their breakfast is outstanding and the themed rooms are comfortable and clean.
If you want to eat the most delicious breakfast, sleep in a lovely themed room with a private bath, have a glass of wine and cheese and crackers in the late afternoon, and enjoy the company of your charming and accommodating hosts, then The Lion and The Rose is the perfect B&B Get Away! The antique furnishings, stained glass windows, and the White Mountains in the distance make it memorable place to stay.
The owners were very pleasant people and cordial. They did not hesitate to accommodate with requests. The stay was quiet and pleasant. Though the rooms small, they were very cozy and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The breakfast was very nice and sociable. Something you do no normally see in a hotel or motel. All in all it was a very nice and if in the area I would book a night or two with them again. Thank you Lion and The Rose
Chris and Roger were very welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in the White Lilac room, which was both pretty and immaculately clean. The bed was very comfy, and the room has a coffee maker and a mini fridge, which I did not expect in a B&B. Breakfast was delicious and elegantly served. Roger was happy to tell us about the history of the house and give us a tour when we asked.
My wife and I went to the area for a relaxing weekend away only to find that our original plans fell through. We came upon this B&B and were welcomed with open arms. We couldn't have been happier this past weelend! Roger and Chris went out of their way to make us feel at home, provide a wealth of information about the area, delicious breakfast, wonderful rooms, and overall wonderful time! We felt like family all weekend! Look forward to going back again in the future!
Thank you for making our yearly trip so amazing. You two always put so much love into your b&b and it shows. And you make us feel so welcomed when we arrive. We can't wait to come back next year.
We stayed at The Lion and The Rose in early January and had an absolutely amazing time! Roger and Chris were incredibly warm and gracious hosts - we definitely look forward to staying at The Lion and The Rose again!
The room was larger than we expected and every bit as special as we had hoped. Comfortable, clean and perfect for the romantic getaway we had been looking for. Our hosts were gracious and extremely knowledgeable about the area and guided us to a local restaurants and other area attractions.
People were very nice, food was very good, and the room was also good. The only problem we had was that it was very hot in our room and could not sleep even after shutting the radiator off. All in all a great value and we will go back, albeit with some confidence that the heat can be controlled better.
I needed a reasonably priced place to stay to attend a wedding in upstate NH and The Lion and The Rose was listed by the bride and groom as nearby to the reception site. I opened the website and immediately fell in love with the place. The hosts were warm, friendly and very attentive. The room was cozy but spacious and the food superb. I definitely would return if my travels bring me to northern N.H. again!!
Our night at the Lion & Rose was a great experience. Roger & Chris met us with a warm smile; ready to help in anyway needed. The room and inn were beautiful. Chris made a great breakfast. There was a nearby party that everyone staying that evening was attending. They called to confirm the time before we all arrived. It's small things like that and just friendly regular folks running a nice inn that make it great. The price was very affordable for the amenities we had.
The Lion and the Rose is a great place to spend a couple days. We were so impressed with the lovely room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and the good company. The house is beautifully maintained with lots of interesting furniture and antiques. Hope to return soon!
Delicious breakfasts; stayed 3 nights on business in the area; quiet time of the year, so I mostly had the house to myself. Will need to come back with family and friends in the summer.
During October 2013 we stayed at this B & B and we can highly recommend the standard of the rooms and the hospitality of the owners. We had a fantastic time at Whitefield and there are some great restaurants within 20 miin drive that are well worth a visit. The hosts at the B & B knew the landscape very well and directed us to some wonderful dining experiences. If you want to see the fall colours and have some knowledgeable advice on where to go & what to see then we would recommend The Lion & The Rose. It is a quirky place - almost eccentric in character but that is what made it stand out from the many bland accommodation options that are available elsewhere. This is a place to enjoy - not simply a place to sleep.
Friendly people and very helpful with dinner recommendations and directions to other services in town. Breakfast was wonderful with lots to eat and a nice selection of fruit to follow. Would definitely stay again if in that area.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this beautiful B&B in the heart of NH. It's location was ideal for viewing and exploring the surrounding area. You can't go wrong by selecting this for you stay!
The hosts were friendly, helpful and quite enjoyable to visit with. We appreciated the dining recommendations as well as touring directions. The breakfast was over the top delicious.
