The cabin...the property....the food, I don't even know where to begin! This place is wonderful! We stayed in the Frolic cabin. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The cabins are quiet and very private, we loved beginning our mornings watching the sun come up from the rocking chairs on the front porch. The property itself is beautiful. We walked a few of the trails. It had rained the night before so obviously it was a muddy hike, but it's obvious that the trails are well maintained. We loved taking walks after our meals. The food was out of this world! They have a set menu for breakfast and its included in the price of your room (but I get the feeling that you could practically order anything for breakfast and they would make it for you if they have it) the owner makes his own sausage and it was amazing! We also decided to get a boxed lunch the second day we were there. It's relatively cheap and you get a TON of food. The dinner menu is small, but packed full of delicious options. We had trouble deciding what to get each night and always left full and satisfied. We will definitely be returning! the owners are wonderful people and all of the staff are extremely polite and seem to really enjoy their jobs. Thank you for a wonderful time!! ~Chrissy Zimmerman
What a relaxing weekend we had over July 4. Though it rained most of the time, we enjoyed our stay. Do wish we had had a TV in our room. Campfire was nice in the evening between storms and rain showers. Breakfasts we great. Dinner was a bit overpriced. Parking was less than satisfactory since someone gouged a four inch scratch in the side of our car by back driver's side wheel. Much more than could be waxed out. We never moved our car the whole time we were there., so it happened between arrival and departure. Next trip we hope to stay in a cabin. We walked in rain though cabin areas. They are very nice. campfire
This was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Beautiful property, very friendly and welcoming staff, and amazing rural scenery. We stayed in a queen cabin, but also toured the guest house thinking of future trips with the kids. Everything looks very homely, the furniture and decor are unique to every cabin and room. The rocking chairs were so comfortable I might end up buying one to take home next time. To top it all off, breakfast was ridiculously good. We definitely just found our retreat destination.
Visiting friends who live in Peebles, OH. We spent the day visiting numerous sites in West Union and Peebles; enjoyed dinner at the Inn; an evening chat by the "fire pit" with our friends after a very delicious dinner. My wife and I stayed at the Inn. We thoroughing enjoyed te accomodations within Room 2 of the Inn. We intend to come back to the Inn next year for a longer stay -- maybe in one of the cabins.
Even though it was a rainy weekend, we relaxed, enjoyed the good food and laid back. Do wish we had had a tv in room. Staff was extremely helpful and cheerful. Campfire was a great experience. Even throughout the rainy days, we were able to work in camp fire. Next stay, we plan to rent a cabin. Thanks you for making it an enjoyable weekend.
This was just the best 2night get away we have had. No tv, no internet in the cabin, just time to relax. The cabin was perfect and had all we needed. The staff and owners were extremely nice. The food was amazing, the best we had tasted in a long time and the service was first class. The setting was perfect. It was our first time, but will not be our last. We have found our recharge. Highly recommended ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
Originally from Wheelersburg, OH and now reside in Orlando, FL. We were visiting the area and ate dinner at the Inn and remained over night in Room 2 of the Inn. The meal was excellent, service from a very polite staff was superb. We enjoyed dining with our friends with occassional interface with the staff; my roomie is a retired schoolteacher and girls' basketball coach from Peebles, so just about everyone knows him. Wen departing in Inn we enjoyed the outside firepit area. Our room was very clean and we enjoyed the remainder of our evening in a rocker on the small balcony. We will be coming back.
Have Heard about Murphin Ridge from friends for years. We were able to go with some friends and spend the weekend. Wonderful countryside and so much to do at Murphin Ridge: tennis, croquet, Chinese checkers, swimming, hiking, and the food was amazing. Jerry's smoked ribs were amazing and the onion bisque was top notch. we finished each evening with a nice time sharing with other guests around the fire... Truly memorable.
We chose to stay at Murphin for the short summer vacation we took this year, and are now going to make it a tradition because of how lovely our trip was. The food was superb - we had originally planned on one dinner at the Inn, and ended up having two. We stayed in Celebration cabin - cabin 8. It was perfect, and private, and I could talk about it forever, so I'll just leave you this. If you're on the fence about making reservation at Murphin, make the reservations. You won't regret it.
We headed to Murphin Ridge Inn to celebrate our "final hurrah" as a couple without kids, and boy was it worth the trip! We stayed in the Inn, and our room was clean and much bigger than the pictures on the website make it look! :) The food was incredible; we NEVER went hungry. All of the other guests were pleasant and talkative and fun to get to know, and our in-room massages were glorious. Thoroughly enjoying my robe and Amish pickles (from the pre-baby getaway package that they added to our room when we told them we were getting away for our "babymoon"!)! Thank you Murphin Ridge Inn, we will definitely be back!! Pro tip: If you like hiking, definitely check out the Buzzardroost Rock hike in the Edge of Appalachia Preserve. And if you are visiting in late summer/early fall, definitely head to the Chapparal Prairie to see all the beautiful blooms! Serpent Mound is a cool place to visit at the summer and winter solstices. Most importantly, enjoy!!!
My wife and I just completed our 3rd visit to "The Ridge", and were so very pleased with entire experience! This has become our "go-to" place when we need a getaway, and need time to relax and recharge. The staff was amazing, and the dining out of this world. Jerry's work behind the smoker and wood fired pizza oven is something not to be missed....not to mention his fried chicken! Already anticipating our next visit! Special thanks for an outstanding job! Spent 2 delightful days at the Murphin Ridge Inn. It takes a bit of effort to find and get there, but it is worth it. Lovely scenery, quiet, quaint and great staff. The accommodations are simple, but comfortable. The food is excellent, tasty and fresh, the highlight of the visit. Innkeepers Gerald and Paula are like family. We will go back again.
If you want to get off the grid for a nice relaxing weekend, you must visit this hidden gem in southern Ohio. Owners and staff are very down to earth people and friendly. Cabins have a nice layout and include all u need. Scenery is amazing and plenty to do. Also, their menu maybe small bit the food is amazing!!! You will not be disappointed.
This was a perfect little weekend honeymoon getaway! The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The cabin was clean and very cute. And, well, Jacuzzi tub with a fire place is defiantly a bonus. We asked the waiter at breakfast a few good places to hike, and they didn't disappoint! Would recommend going into Peebles to the Green Beanery as well. We are planning on going back for our anniversaries to come ¿¿
Wanted a getaway and found Murphin Ridge Inn the perfect place. The food was over the top great. We will have the brick oven pizza next time. The burger is the best you will ever have and the Saturday night ribs are a must! Recommend the hikers package for the lunch and the massage. It all just made for the perfect weekend for husband and wife. No wonder all the other guests we met said they had been there many times before. Put this place on your weekend schedule!
We did a weeknight women's stay for our group of 6. We shared rooms in the lodge and the "common area" gave plenty of room for late night games and cards. It poured rain but the rockers on the covered front porch were very accommodating (along with the large golf umbrellas furnished by the Ridge). Dinner offered a nice variety with homemade soups and salads, along with our entrees. Amish merchants in the area offer a nice side adventure to the quiet and peaceful inn setting. Will certainly return!
We took my 91 year old mother to the Inn for a relaxing Mother's Day and overnight stay. She enjoyed the getaway. The ramp to the guest house and the walkway to the Inn enabled her to use her walker. We were able to use the side door to enter the restaurant without using the stone steps in the front of the Inn. As always, the Inn Keepers and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food was excellent. The rooms clean and quiet. We love going to Murphin Ridge Inn for a quiet escape from our busy lives.
