We were going to be in Watkins Glen for just one night, and just about all of the places to stay have a two-night minimum - we lucked out that Echoes of the Glen was willing to accommodate us as they had one spare night between two other reservations! The house is lovely and had everything we needed. We even took advantage of the common living area and watched a movie after our dinner. And breakfast was delicious! There was a little outside patio that was super cute - if we'd been there longer, I would have loved to site outside with a cup of tea and enjoy the garden. Overall, I highly recommend staying here.
Staying with Barbara and Tom is like visiting family. The welcome and atmosphere is warm; the breakfast delicious! (Barbara went out of her way to accommodate dietary needs!). The rooms are nicely done with ample closet and drawer space. The bathrooms have skylights ( a plus) and plenty of hot water (also a plus)! We have visited with Barbara and Tom twice and look forward to the next time! Betsy W.
18 Vine Inn and Carriage House is really cool and unique. My partner and I stayed in the Carriage House, which was a great experience. The decor and property grounds were outstanding. Very clean in a very nice location, walking distance to town and lake. We were also able to enjoy the pool. Would highly recommend this to anyone who prefer this quaint type of lodging.
My wife and I booked a night in December '14 in Magnolia Place. Most of the places were already closed for the season. We were looking for a cozy place, with a fireplace, and a jacuzzi for two and that was it. We really enjoyed the atmosphere inside the house. We were the only guest for that night. It was quiet, beautiful. The living room was nicely decorated for Christmas. The host is a very pleasant, interesting person to talk to. We had very warm reception throughout the stay. We got great recommendations on where to go for a diner and it takes less than 15 minutes to get to number of good places. Breakfast was delicious and ready for us when we were ready. The room is large and very clean. We could see Seneca lake and number of vineyards from our room. We had a gas fireplace, and TV in our room. There is a good collection of DVDs in the house. After reading books, a romantic movie is a good addition to an evening. Overall, I can't imagine a better place for a couple to escape to for a night (or longer for the lucky ones who can).
Had a wonderful time away with my wife. Unfortunately the fire place did not work. Owner said there would be a refund for that. It is a week later and I still don't have the refund. Also, there should be more trash cans in the room as well as the shall was in a dispenser in the shower instead of individual bottles. Just didn't fit the upscale look of the rest of the place. Overall the place was very nice and the breakfast was phenomenal.
What a wonderful weekend! The room was magnificent, the food the best we have had a any restaurant or B&B. The meals actually looked like the pictures. The Innkeepers made us feel like we were family and gave us any information we asked about. It was definitely an enjoyable weekend and we recommend Magnolia Place for anyone looking for a B&B that is a notch above the rest.
This was our first time staying at a B&B and they did not disappoint. Our room was nice and clean and our hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable. The location was perfectly placed in the heart of the wineries, and last but not least the breakfasts were incredible! Definitely the best meal we ate each day!
My wife and I stayed here over a weekend in November. We've stayed at several B&Bs in the Finger Lakes and this was one of the best. Our room, though not huge, was well laid out and appointed. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were terrific. Barb and Tom were very accommodating and took a genuine interest in their guests' enjoyment of their stay. We plan to return.
Barb & Tom make you feel like you are visiting w/ long time friends. Rooms are extremely clean and offer a touch of home. Breakfast is always delicious and provides a great start to whatever you have planned for the day! I would strongly recommend Echoes of the Glen for your next trip to Seneca Lake!
My husband and I needed a quick getaway (we live just outside of NYC), and Terri and Ted were lovely hosts. We stayed from Friday night until Sunday morning and went to 4 great wineries all within 2 miles of Magnolia Place. Would definitely return!
The owners were very nice and helpful. The place is super clean. And breakfast was amazing. If you left hungry its your own fault. Our room was very nice. And the owner told of a great place to eat. My husband and I are planning a trip to stay there again.
This B&B is run fantastically. I stayed there almost 5yrs ago and the experience was equal and as consistent as I could have imagined it to be. The owners are very, very kind and thoughtful (same since 2005). They have created an atmosphere that is just clean, warm and very homely. I felt relaxed and welcomed from the minute we pulled into the driveway! Morning breakfast is made to perfection and both Tom and Barb are well educated in the local area as they can suggest quite a few things to do, to say the least... We will definitely be back as it was a pleasure to stay there once again! Anthony & Cydney
We had a wonderful time at the Starkey House B&B. Room was great and breakfast was fantastic. Starkey house is a wonderful place to stay while visiting the Finger Lakes. Located right off the Seneca Wine Trail and close to Keuka Lake. Cathy is an awesome host. Allison and Patrick from Harrisburg, PA are looking forward to another atay at the Starkey House ! Thank you Cathy for a great B&B experience. Allison and Patrick.
Innkeeper and his wife were so very nice! When we arrived he upgraded our room to a king which was a very unexpected but appreciated surprise. The food was very good. I would definitely stay here again!!!
I loved everything about Magnolia Place except the size of the room and that the bath was not in our room. You could barely move in the room and there was no room to open our suitcases. We stayed at 4 B and B's on our trip and for the same room rate we had larger rooms and a bathroom in our room at the other B and B's. So I thought this room was over priced. The food was great and Ted was an excellent host.
We just finished our weekend at the Blackberry Inn and am ready to book for next year! Our hosts Brian and David were wonderful. Breakfast was awesome. Everything was fresh and homemade. Can't wait to return. Carol and Dennis Clark
The hosts Ted and Terri make your stay so fantastic! The house is charming, beautiful and immaculate. Breakfasts are memorable with lots of variety served in a lovely conservatory. My sister and I enjoyed our vacation and want to say Hi to Irish, the well behaved black lab.
We stayed at 1922 Starkey House the second weekend of October in the Veranda Room. The deck with views of the lake was a great spot for a morning coffee. The room was very spacious and tastefully decorated. The breakfasts were delicious, and the owner/hostess Cathy was extremely kind and helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing way to spend a weekend exploring the Finger Lakes, we would definitely recommend 1922 Starkey House. Jim and Courtney
We were celebrating our anniversary, very belated. We chose to celebrate with dinner at Suzzane's Restaurant for some fine dining. Magnolia was in the perfect laocation to spend the night after our meal which afforded us the relief of driving 50+ miles home. Magnolia was very comfortable and the inn keepers were very personable and accomodating. Our room was perfect and very well appointed. Our biggest surprise was breakfast the next morning! If breakfast can be fine dining this was it! Outstanding F We would highly recommend Magnolia as a great place to stay in the Finger Lakes which is one of New York States best attractions.
We stayed in the Park Room. Very nice and clean but really small. If you are over 5'10" you will be headroom challenged in the bathroom ceiling, toliet and shower. No TV, small closet. Other rooms may have been bigger. Tom and Barb were great hosts, very friendly. food excellent. Right across from Gorgeous Watkins Glenn Park. Nice place ask about room sizes.
We are a senior citizen couple taking a tour of Finger Lakes wine country. We chose the Idlwilde for the convenient location, the house and views of Seneca Lake, and the large comfortable rooms. This was our third stay there over 5 years. The big victorian house has been modernized but has kept all the wonderful details and is very pretty and very clean. Over the years the room decor hasn't changed nor has the menu for breakfast, well cooked but ordinary. I would recommend this B&B highly for a weekend stay; it's quiet and charming.
Our stay at 1922 Starkey House was really great--very comfortable! The breakfasts were delicious and Cathy is very knowledgable about the area. She made a few suggestions about wine tours and dinner, and they turned out to be excellent choices. If and when we come back to the Finger Lakes Region, we look forward to staying at the1922 Starkey House B & B!
The home was very nice and the history impressive. All of the staff were incredibly attentive and gracious. We did have issues with the radiant heat as the units were terribly noisy throughout the night...less than peaceful.
We had a great stay at this beautiful 1800's historic house in the heart of Watkins Glen, convenient to the State Park and all the shops. The guys were outstanding, warm hosts and I loved the dog, Sandy. Our gourmet breakfasts were unexpected and huge. The farm to table ingredients were combined into fabulous dishes. We didn't have to eat all day until dinner. Felt like home with the guys so we'll definitely come back.
