We chose the Readmore Inn for our elopement wedding based on a Google search and what we saw on their website, and did we ever luck out! It's even prettier in person than it looks on their site - a gorgeous house, beautifully decorated, and with every little detail you could want taken care of. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and there are books everywhere (most for sale; some not). I felt like I'd dropped into a little patch of heaven. We stayed in the Theodore Roosevelt room, which was really pretty and had a full bath with a dressing area and walk-in closet. There was also a fireplace where we burnt Duraflame logs provided by Stu on both nights. So cozy! The two-course breakfasts were out of this world and kept us going until dinner time. Dorothy says she has a cookbook coming out and I will be first in line to buy it! She's an amazing and creative cook with a focus on fresh, local food. Dorothy and Stu create a relaxed and charming atmosphere, just a 5 minute walk from the shops and restaurants of Bellows Falls. Before we finished our weekend, we decided we want to go back for our first anniversary, if not before.

If I could give more stars I would! I planned my wedding long distance and did it all sight unseen. What I can say is that this home is more beautiful than the pictures and Dorothy and Stuart are the most gracious and caring inn takers. Dorothy's breakfast are so amazing that even my fire fighter brother-in-law couldn't finish them!! The rooms are amazing! The atrium beautiful and the house was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony! My wife and I are so grateful to Dorothy and Stuart for making our day so much more than we could have imagined!!! Oh! Her special creme brûlée is to die for! If you want one of the best bed and breakfasts out there stay at the Readmore! You could not ask for a more perfect place or more gracious hosts!!!

We wanted a long weekend in a New England B&B, and couldn't have asked for better! I'd have given it a solid 5, but we nabbed the last available room and it was one of the smaller ones, which was sweet, more comfortable than expected, and (like the rest of the place) impeccably clean. Just not luxurious. (It WAS "The Cook's Room", after all!) The larger rooms ARE luxurious, with fireplaces, four-poster beds and beautiful furnishings — next time we'll plan ahead so we can stay in one of those. Dorothy and Stewart are wonderful hosts, full of stories about the town and inn, and advice about the best places to eat. And then there's the food. Oh my! The breakfasts are incredible, and if you manage to finish yours it can easily hold you until...afternoon tea by the fireplace. Dorothy clearly loves to pamper her guests! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We wanted a night away from the kids to celebrate our anniversary. Dorothy asked the purpose of our visit and then gave us a free upgrade to her best room! We were in awe at how nice and friendly she and her husband are. The house is really beautiful- architectural details everywhere you look. The atrium is awesome! They recommended a restaurant for dinner that was amazing! The room was quiet and nicely decorated with down pillows, a down comforter, and even a down mattress top! The towels were very soft. The scent of the lilacs in the gardens wafted in. Breakfast was sooo good! Dorothy makes peasant baguettes and boursin from scratch. Local fresh fiddleheads; local maple bacon, thickly sliced; herbs from their garden; local cheeses; fresh fruits; and an omelette provencal. We will reminisce about that breakfast for years to come! Don't pass up the opportunity to stay here! Ps. Dorothy- PLEASE write a recipe book!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I traveled to Vermont for our 36th wedding anniversary. After searching the web we decided on the Readmore. It was a fantastic choice. Dorothy met us at the front door and gave us the grand tour. Dorothy offered us tea in the Library. Served out of silver tea pots and with a roaring fire in the fireplace, light snow falling outside it made us feel so relaxed. We stayed in the Garden Room. A wonderful room. Large very comfortable queen bed, table with chairs and a sofa. And a wood burning fireplace! The bathroom was a surprise. It was very modern with a large oversized whirlpool tub. Spa care products were included. After a great nights sleep we went to breakfast. Stuart was already there offering us coffee and juice. There was a printed menu but Dorothy came out to explain how it was to be prepared. The first course was grapefruit with brandied cherry. Then came out a wonderful frittata with vegetables. Accompanying it was an oven baked mashed potato. The slab bacon soaked in maple syrup was my personal favorite! A very tasty toast added to the fantastic breakfast. Although we had to leave that morning we inquired about extending another night but there was no room at the Inn. No problem. We will be back. A wonderful stay, gracious hosts in a beautiful and comfortable Inn.

What a wonderful experience! The Inn is steeped in history and beautiful yet you are provided all the modern conveniences. Dorothy and Stewart are just wonderful and the food is so delicious! They are wonderful hosts and willing to do anything to help make your stay one that you will remember for a long time and want to go back to as soon as possible. I am gluten intolerant and they provided gluten free meals for me. I can't say enough about them and their wonderful inn. I have not slept that well in years!

My husband and I chose this B&B on a whim while on a spur of the moment getaway for our 5th anniversary. Let me say we were not dissappointed. We called after 6 that evening for a reservation and they were more than pleasant. After we stopped and had dinner and finally headed that way we realized we wouldnt' be there until almost 10pm. We called to let them know and it wasn't a problem at all. We stayed in the Garden Room and wow was it beautiful. Every room in the house will amaze you. the attention to detail is amazing. And breakfast... wow what can I say here? It was out of this world. Oatmeal french toast with sharp cheddar cheese and eggs on top. It was an explosion of flavor. The grilled peaches OMG!! The potatoes and mushrooms Wow!! And of course the apple smoked bacon. Awesome. We hope to go back again sometime. Very highly recommended :)

What a novel idea, a reading themed Bed and Breakfast! The room was beautiful (we stayed in the Garden Room), the owners were friendly and available, and the breakfasts were AMAZING! I wish we had been there later in the spring to see the garden in bloom. Real (not gas) fires and a jacuzzi tub for two made this the perfect romantic getaway. Numerous ‘small touches’ throughout the house made it friendly and inviting. A great, ‘Green’, place to get away for a while.

One word describes my stay at this truly remarkable inn. Fantastic!!! From the moment my lady and I arrived until we left it was just plain great. Okay, I used two words. Can't wait to return.

Thank you, Dot and Stewart. Our third stay was as wonderful as the first. Excellent breakfasts... I am still dreaming about them... the fresh oatmeal bread lightly toasted, the putine, Dot-style, the fresh fruit, the local cheeses, the Sapling for breakfast... Wonderful!

This B&B is a treasure. The house is beautiful, with every detail carefully thought out. The innkeepers are friendly but not overbearing. And the food is tasty with creative flavor combinations. The innkeepers recommended a fantastic spot for dinner (Leslie's Tavern) and suggested a hike and other activities in the area. I've stayed at many B&B's over the years... and this is a new favorite. I can't think of a thing I would change about the experience.

Readmore Bed and Breakfast was by far the most historical and amazing B&B I have ever visited. The house itself takes you back in time because of the beautiful preservation, and at the same time offers all modern amenities. The caretakers were wonderful, warm and inviting. The food was gourmet and delicious! The overall feeling of the B&B was relaxing and comfortable. My husband and I will make a yearly habit out of visiting Readmore, making it a part of tradition!

We had a wonderful stay at Readmore. The hosts created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, welcomed us with mulled cider and cookies by the fireplace, and catered to our every need! Breakfast was beyond wonderful, and I plan to ask for the stuffed French toast the next time we make our way there.
