    El Negro Lantern Inn ha sido cuidadosamente restaurada y decorada con los años para convertirse en Hotel con más encanto de Roanoke.     Highly recommended!

    The Black Lantern Inn is beautifully restored and decorated. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom had the amenities and finishes I would expect of a much more expensive place. Truly a gorgeous house. The location is convenient, too (especially to the Blue Ridge Parkway) and breakfast was delicious. Ron was great to talk with at breakfast and it was interesting to hear about the house restoration. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Roanoke!

    Second time at the Black Lantern Inn

    Last year we came here for our 35th wedding anniversary, now here we are a year later once again. This place is great! The rooms are modern, immaculate, well appointed bathrooms with Turkish towels that I wish we had. Ron has been here both times but we just met Clarie this visit as she was out of town last year and both are pleasant people and were great to be around. I was up early one morning while my wife was still asleep and Ron and I share stories and coffee. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed and we obviously recommend it greatly for a few nights get away in a nice part of Virginia!

    I am so very impressed by the Black Lantern Inn. The craftsmanship and design of the home is spectacular down to the very last detail. There are multiple living spaces throughout the home, and the whole place is spotless from top to bottom. We went with 2 other couples for a family gathering, and just can't say enough wonderful things about how amazing our experience was there. We were in awe of the decor and how solid the house is (there is not a creak in the place), as well as the details that the owners took into consideration, such as a well-lit vanity in the 3rd floor bathroom, fresh cookies upon our arrival, and music speakers that are a substantial size and have great sound quality. I could gush on and on about how wonderful the home is! The food was also delicious. We had a 2 course breakfast that included every major food group and had perfectly seasoned eggs! Thanks Ron and Claire for sharing your beautiful home!

    Wonderful. Do not miss this Inn!

    My wife and I have visited B&Bs throughout the country. We made a spur of the moment decision to visit Roanoke, we looked at B&Bs in the Roanoke area and were quite taken with the Black Lantern's website, we called to check availability and spoke with one of the Inn Keepers, Claire. They had availability for the following evening and we secured our reservation, we confirmed arrival time and directions. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon a little earlier than expected and met Ron outside as we pulled in. First let me say that the exterior of the Inn and the grounds were immaculate and very well tended, Ron was just finishing watering his herbs. The Inn has been totally renovated and the interior is exquisite. Ron has been in the construction business his entire life and he performed the majority (all) of the renovation work. The attention to detail, the interior design and the overall layout are extremely attractive and very inviting. I am also in the construction business and was very impressed with the workmanship, design, layout and skill of the work completed. The place is immaculate, each room is decorated beautifully and the overall appearance is superb. Ron is an excellent host, he was informative about the area, activities and the local restaurants. He made us feel welcome and let us know that we should make ourselves right at home. He was extremely hospitable and very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and extremely generous. Coffee, juice, homemade banana bread (warm), chopped apples with yogurt, oatmeal granola and raisins followed by sausage, eggs, hash browns and blue berry pancakes. What a feast. Ron sat with us once he was done preparing the food and we chatted for almost an hour. It was time for us to be on our way otherwise I think we would be talking still. What a wonderful place, great food, great decor and extremely hospitable. Thanks for a great stay, we'll be back.

    My best stay ever!

    Ron and Claire outdid themselves at the Black Lantern Inn in Roanoke, VA!! Each morning for four consecutive mornings, breakfast tasted better and better. The complimentary wine/beer each evening set the tone for a great evening of conversation on the second floor porch. I have never been in a cleaner B&B! I can't wait to go back next year when my conference meets in Roanoke again.
