Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast

Facilities were clean and comfortable. Janice was friendly and a great cook. Loved the breakfasts.

This B&B is large and comfortable, with an upstairs kitchen/living area that is perfect for sitting and talking.

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Heron Inn and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious and inviting and the house was very well-kept. Janice, the owner, is an absolute sweetheart and an awesome cook in the kitchen. Her cinnamon pecan belgian waffles are to die for, as is everything else on her 'pick-what-you'd like' breakfast menu. We loved our visit so much that we went back in October for a longer stay. Highly recommended!

The three words I have titled my review sums up our four-day stay. I would highly recommend this small, charming get-a-way. And I must say, that the owner was exemplified the utmost Southern hospitality.

We had the very best time at The Blue Heron from 6/22/2012-6/24/2012. We were greeted by the owner who is the sweetest and bestest lady in the world. Never having been to a bed and breakfast before we didn't know what to expect but after this stay we see how they should be modeled. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable and everything was in the perfect spot. The detail to breakfast was spot on in every way too. The location is so convienant to down town austin and the historical district in Bastrop. There is plenty to occupy your time during your stay here or just to enjoy the peace and quiet that this wonderful bed and breakfast have to offer. I will most certainly make it bake and refer this particular bed and breakfast to all my family and friends. Thank you Ms Janice!

The atmosphere during my stay was very quiet. I enjoyed my stay immensely (4 nights) and all but one night had the BnB all to myself. I spent alot of time just relaxing and unfortunately working. Wireless Internet worked well. I had a different breakfast every morning.. Nothing like waking to the smell of bacon and you did not have to cook...

Warm hospitality, delicious food, comfortable beds - plus, a sweet, sweet little dachshund to greet you!

Great atmosphere, great service. Breakfast was fantastic and delicious. Very quiet and relaxing area, great scenery. Peaceful, clean, well-run, charming - just a few words to describe this b&b. The country breakfast was fabulous. Janice is awesome!

This was my first bed and breakfast experience. It was FABULOUS! The room was well appointed, Janice the owner very friendly, food absolutely delicious....loved the banana pecan pancakes, fresh eggs from the chickens on property and the beautiful wild flowers everywhere. I highly reccommend this B&B. If you want a taste of heaven on earth without the high cost, Blue Heron is the way to go.

The breakfast was Exquisite. From omlettes to Pecan Cinnamon waffles. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. The host was wonderful.

The house the B&B is in is really lovely, with big white columns and windows, sitting behind a pond. Our room was very pleasantly decorated with antique furniture and seemed very clean. Breakfast was very tasty and prompt. The inn keeper was friendly and attentive. The main thing they need to work on is the appearance their grounds. The back end of the house is used as a residence and there was clutter (toys, lawn equipment, old chairs) all over the back porch and grounds. The hot tub also needed cleaning badly. I also think some of the decor in the big rooms downstairs needs updating. The antique furniture is great, but the faded piano posters on the wall don't add anything to the Southern charm feel of the house.

We were looking for a quiet and restful location away from the hustle and bustle and we found it in this location

These were all family relatives from Dallas and they liked everything very much. All but one had stayed here before and requested that we put them up there.

Our family of 13 girls (grandma, sisters, nieces, daughter-in-laws) celebrated my 50th birthday at the Blue Heron this past weekend. It couldn't have been more perfect. The hospitality was exceptional. Anything we could have wanted or needed was provided. Highly recommend for family gatherings!!!

Our event at McKinney Roughs was rained out but we are very glad we kept our stay at the Blue Heron anway. Exceptional food and service and slept like a baby on a great bed!

If you are looking for a place of peaceful relaxation this is the place. The home cooked breakfast is outstanding.

My wife and I always look forward to staying at the Blue Heron when we visit the Austin area. Although we usually spend most of our days in Austin shopping, dining, and visiting family, we look forward to quiet evenings and mornings at the Blue Heron where we usually try to stay in the same room, making it even more like home. The home is beautiful and well kept, the rooms clean and comfortable, and it's great to spend time in the den upstairs watching TV, reading, or fixing a snack or drink in the guest kitchen. The grounds are beautiful and the house is distanced well from the highway so it is very peaceful and quiet when you are ready for sleep in the plush bedding. Janice is a wonderful cook and always goes out of her way to provide delicious and hot gourmet food at exactly the right time. We always feel like we are at home when visiting the Blue Heron and makes up excuses to visit Austin just to stay there.

Quiet, just outside Austin, TX, next to Bastrop State Park. Accommodations were relaxing and felt peaceful. The breakfast banana nut pancakes were the best I've ever had. Thank you, Janice.

The Blue Heron Bed & Breakfast was awesome. Our king size sleigh bed and the Jacuzzi tub in out New Orleans suite made for one romantic getaway I'll treasure forever. Try the crawfish omelet with hollandaise sauce, it's outstanding.

The B & B is friendly and welcoming. We have stayed here several times. It is a romantic getaway when we have gone as a couple. It is a family (and child) friendly place when we have had a reunion. Breakfast is a feast! As return guests, we would recommend it to our friends.

Our family reunion used the whole property for the weekend. Clean,well appointed, friendly and comfortable. I particularly liked the pancakes at breakfast. Although there were several "Special" items on the menu that other family members enjoyed I found the standards were prepared with that flair that shows the kitchen knows how to cook to please. All in all we had a great time and would have liked to stayed longer. You will too.

The Blue Heron is wonderful! We've stayed in lots of B&B's around the country so we know how good things can be and unfortunately how bad they can be. The entire place is super clean, the host and staff are friendly and helpful, the common area is very nice, and breakfast is out of this world. We can't say enough good things about the breakfast! WOW! Amazing!!! Janice does a fantastic job! Great value for the price!

Having never stayed in a B&B because of first impressions coming from tv where there are only public bathrooms...we loved our stay. It is exactly as pictured but so much more!! Jan is a fabulous cook and very polite hostess! The next time we need a quite getaway from reality..The Blue Heron it is!!

This is the fourth time my wife and I have stayed at the Blue Heron since discovering it a year ago. The home is beautiful and far removed from busy Austin, but close enough to travel in for the day. Janice Mouton is very accomodating and an unbelievable cook. The home is warm and inviting and it's great to have a common area with living room and kitchen to relax in outside of your own room, which is also very relaxing. The Blue Heron is a great find and an unbelievable value.

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Blue Heron. The home is beautiful and the meals were outstanding! The guest spaces are comfortably furnished and the location is perfect. Mrs. Moulton is an incredible hostess. We look forward to visiting again and again.

My husband I spent our wedding night at the Blue Heron! It was very romantic and the house and grounds were beautiful. It's a great place for a couple or a family! They are such nice people.

On the website the place looked nice, but "wow!" I was amazed when we arrived (the website doesn't do it enough justice). The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. Very clean. It is cozy and peaceful and set in pretty gardens. The breakfast and the service were divine.

The Blue Heron B&B is a great place to stay. We had our wedding there and it was absolutely beautiful! Not to mention the breakfast is amazing.
