Nice theme if 50's is what your into. I personally am into it and really enjoyed the trip back in time. Very clean in general both front of the house and in the rooms. Very comfortable bed and cozy. To bad the noise from upstairs is so distracting and kept we awake for a bit. Overall nice experience and a great way to see the upper part of door county as you are very close to it all.
My husband & I recently visited Door County and chose The Black Walnut Guest House for our accommodations. We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. Really enjoyed having our own private outside space as well. Our delicious breakfast tray arrived at our door promptly every morning at our chosen time. The innkeeper is a wonderful cook and each breakfast exceeded our expectations. She was very helpful with any questions and/or suggestions that we asked of her. The Black Walnut Guest House is within walking distance of the downtown and plenty of yummy restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again on a return visit to Door Co.
My wife and I recently stayed at the Whie Lace Inn B&B in Sturgeon Bay. We were there for 2 nights. The breakfasts were delicious and nutritious. The room was in the Garden House and was extremely pleasant and clean. It had an antique canopy bed, a natural fireplace, and a balcony that overlooked the flower garden. The innkeeper was a very friendly fellow and had lots of good information about what to do and see in Door County. We would recommend the White Lace Inn for any of our friends looking for a nice place to stay in Door County.
We always stay at the White Lace when visiting Sturgeon Bay. It is like a second home for us in that area. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We like to be able to walk to the downtown area from the Inn for dining, shopping and entertainment.
From the moment we pulled into the parking lot until we pulled out the next day everything was wonderful. Check in was super easy and the young lady was super pleasant. The rooms were basic and very clean. The complementary breakfast was very nice all fresh and served in a cute little diner style. Another really nice thing was how quite it was we were not disturbed overnight by other guests coming and goings. We would definitely stay again.
I tried to stay here in 2013 but there were no vacancies when I needed. This year I booked earlier and got a room. It was like stepping back in a time machine but worked out well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included continental breakfast was better than what one finds in most hotels. My daughter savored the very fresh multigrain bagel she had.
Our stay at White Lace in was very nice. We've stayed in many bed and breakfast, and it met our expectations. The room was clean and comfortable. It was smaller than other places we have stayed, but it was still nice. The grounds were very pleasant with rocking chairs and a beautiful garden. We did not have much interaction with other travelers or the host, which is was fine, but nothing to make note of. Overall, we spent most of our days visiting other parts of door county and White Lace Inn was an acceptable and pleasant place to stay.
My husband and I came to Door County looking for a chance to unwind, relax, and reconnect. The Orchid Inn and the innkeepers provided just that. Situated in an idyllic show garden full of whimsical animal topiaries and petal-perfect flora, the Inn brought a sense of peace the moment we drove onto the property. The bedroom was beautifully decorated, with little touches that made us feel welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay. The innkeeper's care and genuinely lovely personality showed through in the uncountable little touches that let this B&B stand out from the crowd. Breakfast each morning was a romantic affair, with fresh flowers and delicious food. Coffees, wine, teas, soaps and lotions from local artisans greeted our arrival, and thoughtful little snacks and gifts found their way to our space daily, along with lovely hand-written notes. This inn made a perfect romantic getaway, but it would make an even better venue for a wedding, as part of the gardens, set up with arch and aisle, look like a picture come to life from a fairy tale wedding.
My husband and I stayed at the Black Walnut for 6 nights while visiting Door County in August 2014. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of The Black Walnut Guest House... Geri is very welcoming and has a calm, warm personality. She gives you a tour of the house and goes over parking, entry areas of the home, and breakfast. She personally makes the cookies, granola, and breakfast each morning--And it is delicious! We stayed in the Arts and Crafts room. It is the largest of the rooms. The in-room bathroom is small and contains a sink, toilet, and a small shower. There is a vent in the bathroom so it was quite cool in there when the air was on. It is approximately 75-80% wall height so you can hear, but not see, what is going on in the bathroom. There is an armoire with hangers to store your clothes. On each side of the bed there is a two-drawer nightstand with table lamp. The pillows and bed were very comfortable! There is a double-sided glass fireplace separating the sleeping area from the sitting area. Sitting area also houses the large, deep two-person whirlpool. The room has a 2nd small sink, microwave, TV (with cable), DVD player, and mini fridge. You have access to a semi-private patio as well. Breakfast is NOT communal and is hand-delivered to your room each morning at a time you specify by a gentle knock. The house is quiet and private even though it is located in Sturgeon Bay within walking distance to the marina, shops, bars, and restaurants. This was our first stay at a B&B and we were unsure what to expect. We cannot say enough positive things about The Black Walnut. We will definitely be returning!
The Reynolds House, while in need of some paint outside, was beautiful inside. Our host provided much information on the house, the area, and tourist ideas. We stayed on the 3rd floor, which is an entire suite. Though the floor was not air conditioned, there was a newer floor air conditionered that worked great. Everything was great, and we would stay there again.
The Black Walnut us understated outside while elegant inside. We could not help but simply relax in our room. The breakfasts were unique and exceptional. We strongly recommend the cherry juice when available and the snack cookies in the hall were a delightful treat.
My wife and I went to the Inn at Cedar Crossing for our 10 Year Anniversary. It was an excellent choice! The rooms are comfortable and homey. The service was fantastic and the workers friendly and very helpful. I would recommend the Inn at Cedar Crossing to anyone looking for fun and relaxing get-a-way!
We had a very nice stay at The Reynolds House. Even though David has owned the home for a few short months, everything was neat and clean. David was very helpful and friendly. We have stayed at a lot of B&Bs but none can beat the amazing breakfast David made for us! Would highly recommend.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by spending a long weekend in Door County. I was so glad we decided to stay at Reynolds Bed and Breakfast. David, the new owner, was amazing. The food was excellent, the conversations were delightful and David took the time to add some personal touches and make you feel at home. I would highly recommend Reynold's House and I will come again!
Home is gorgeous. David is an exception host with many stories to share. Breakfast was delicious. Only downside was that central air only covers the first two floors. The Winesap Suite covers the entire third floor. There was a room air conditioner in the bedroom area, but it is noisy. The sitting room and bath area are not air conditioned and were hot and stuffy. I would go back to this B & B, but not in this suite in August.
Dan and Vicki have a beautiful B & B! The entire house is immaculate! I stayed in the water lily room for one night with my mother on an unexpected trip to Door County. Dan immediately grabbed my luggage and took it to the room. He showed us how to use the TV, including Netflix, and the lighting etc. I enjoyed a nice long soak in the double whirl pool tub with salt crystals that were in the bathroom. The tub was extremely clean or trust me, I would not have even thought about getting in it! Across from the water lily room is a single toilet with a small fridge filled with on the house orange and root beer soda. The room had yummy Hershey chocolates by the bedside. The sheets are beyond soft. The owners do sell them. I hope to get some for Christmas! The room was very quiet, I never heard the other guests. The front porch swing is perfect to read a book or enjoy a mug of tea or coffee which is available whenever you want it. The breakfast was delicious! Cherry and white chocolate scones, juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, sausage and french toast. I did not have to eat lunch! VERY filling and yummy! I would highly recommend staying at the Scofield house. It would be a very safe place to stay if you were alone as well. ~Kristi
