What an AMAZING B&B! We had an awesome time and the room was absolutely wonderful and Cheri and Paul thought out every last detail in this room(NY Loft)!! A well needed getaway and so private and a great location to so many things on the West side of Michigan! We will definitely return. Only issue I had was at breakfast where I had made a note of my egg allergies in advance of our stay and was served an egg dish. A little disappointing but overall LOVED this place and will definitely go back!! And have already recommended it to many friends!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night this past weekend and we absolutely loved it! We arrived one hour before check in but Nolene was very accommodating and offered us a drink while we waited. She sat with us and went over a map of Douglas and Saugatuck and made recommendations for restaurants/bars/things to do. They lent us beach cruiser bikes that we rode in to downtown Saugatuck (about a 10-15 minute bike ride). The place is located right by the beach but a short ride from downtown Saugatuck. The breakfast was very good! We stayed in the Victorian suite which is a bit pricey (the were limited options since we booked late) but the room and bathroom were huge! We had a good experience and would stay here again.
This in is a beautiful place, on gorgeous property, and the hosts were so warm, accomodating, and friendly. Lots of room for the kids to swim and play, and plenty of room for our family to sit together and catch up on lost time. Even though our kids can be quite loud at times, never once did the hosts complain, instead they encouraged them to have fun and be kids. I cant say enough nice things about the B&B or the amazing people that run it. Brent Eklund, MI
I reserved my room online, received a call regarding my husbands food preference and directions on how to get in our room only to find out it wasn't the innkeeper calling but the woman who cooks. Arrived and there was an envelope on the door with directions on how to do everything. The first thing I noticed was an envelope on the table to leave a tip for the woman who was supposed to straighten up our room. I have been to numerous b&b's and have never seen this.normally they will come in and refresh everything and don't expect a tip, especially for the price. The second day we were there we went out got back nothing had been restocked, fine except I needed more coffee. I called Cheri who rudely said we came and you were in the shower! I felt the need to apologize, she then told me where to find the key to get coffee and told me 5 times not to tell anyone where they key was kept. I felt like I was being treated like a child. The topper was in the "instructions" that I got when I arrived I was told to leave in the kitchen in the next to the napkin holder upon departure which I did. When I did this the cook and another woman were in the kitchen and said goodbye. Cheri was right there in site on her computer and did not say a word. No goodbye, nothing. On top of this I paid an extra 20.00 a day for breakfast served to our room. I told the woman who called, my husband does not eat eggs..also told her no quiche. Our first breakfast consisted of a tiny portion of "eggstrata" I believe she called it? Just like quiche with no crust. Everything was a tiny portion, no offer of second helpings which I have never experienced at a b&b. I emailed her that night telling her about the eggs and tiny portions. She knocked on my door the next day explaining it was her birthday the day before and apologized. Breakfast was slightly better the next two days. This was the most impersonal place ever. And that keeping her back to us when we left without a word was unbelievable.
It's was my Wife and first stay ever in a B&B. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very quiet and clean and up to date. Breakfast was delicious. They offer their own hot coco throughout the house and in rooms and it was delicious. We would definitely go back for another quiet weekend.
My niece got married at the outside venue just 2 miles from this B&B....and being a small family we all decided to stay here for that weekend. 15 adults and 8 children. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. what wonderful and gracious hosts !!!. Food was excellent...beautiful and clean rooms...pool for the kids...and plenty of space for dining. in my opinion this is the perfect B&B...especially for small groups or family Mike Findlay,OH
The location of this Hotel is prime Saugatuck. We stayed there once before, but this time the bed was rock-hard as well as the pillows, and the A/C was a window unit that blew right on my husband. Neither of us slept well, which is unusual for him because he can sleep anywhere. I found the staff to be professional, but not warm.
My wife and I spent a weekend at the Baert Baron Mansion prior to moving from Michigan to Indiana. After a very busy summer preparing to move, our time at the Mansion was exactly what we needed. It was relaxing, beautiful, and our hosts Vic and Anna could not have been sweeter. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed - from coffee to dessert in our room to beach chairs for our visit to Grand Haven. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
Due to the fact that it is an old house turned into a B&B, the rooms and bathrooms were a little small. The shower was literally a turnaround shower, because that's all the room you had. Although the chandeliers and lighting were made to match the old mansion, the lighting was terrible and hard to even put contacts in or makeup on. It worked for us in a pinch though. Marcia was very embracing and eager to please.
Anna and Vic have the gift of hospitality. We were graciously welcomed and pampered during our stay. The homemade desserts were delicious. The breakfast was too large for us, but the variety gave us the opportunity to eat only what we truly enjoyed. Our room was spacious, well-maintained, and beautifully decorated. The peaceful porch and yard were perfect for relaxing after dinner in the evening. We had a wonderful time at the Baert Baron Mansion.
My husband and I wanted something special to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Santa Barbara Beach House was amazing. The luxury, decor, amenities, and detail to make everything perfect made our get away experience over the top. We hope to be able to escape to the Tuscan Villa next time.
My husband and I wanted to have a getaway. This place was both beautiful, elegant and quite. We just loved it! We've been and many bed and breakfast and this was the best service we have ever experienced. We spent one night there, next time we definitely plan to spend two. This place was extremely clean from inside and outside. The host and hostess were very friendly and we can tell they love to do the bed and breakfast theme. We highly recommend this place for a romantic and peaceful getaway.
The room setting was one of the BEST! I have ever stayed in. It's a lovely romantic getaway for Wife and myself. The staff and home owner were the ABSOLUTE BEST!! The atmosphere puts you in a place were you feel like you and your partner are the only two there. It was very romantic!! And the pool was lovely as well after a summer day on the town. The only B&B I know that offers a pool. This stay gave my wife and myself a lovely time to reconnect with each other which was long over due. Cause we all tend to get caught up in our daily schedules and work.
So much attention to detail has been thought of in this B&B. We stayed in the Beach House, gorgeous room with everything you could think of needing or wanting. Breakfast in the main house was prepared and served wonderfully. Staff were very attentive. We would highly recommend this B&B for anyone looking for a luxurious getaway.
Very nice mansion that has been converted to a B &B. Rooms are nice and reflect the era that the mansion was built. Curbside appear is lacking since the grounds are in great need of maintenance. Breakfasts were good but not of the quality that has been previously enjoyed at other B & B's. Overall an average experience.
Maplewood Hotel in the heart of beautiful Saugatuck, Michigan, proved to be pleasant surprise. Well-maintained rooms, tasty breakfasts, kind and helpful staff appear to be the norm. This quaint historical hotel would be one that we would consider recommending to others.....
Our family enjoyed our one night stay at the Mansion. The hosts were gracious, made us feel like family, and helped us with any local questions we had. The evening dessert treat was fabulous and breakfast was over the top - gourmet, healthy and plentiful. Anna even called us beforehand to find out if we had any special dietary needs. Our attic suite was unique and fun for the kids.
The Inn is clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfy and the breakfast skillfully prepared for us was delightful. Having a professional photographer on site to capture those spontaneous moments is an added perk. Thanks Kent & Marcia for a wonderful time! Loved the porch sitting.
We planned a week-long trip from St Louis to Niagara Falls and back through Holland MI. From the time we made the reservation on line and shortly thereafter received a personal call from the owners, Vic and Anna, we were pleased with the personal service. The beautifully restored rooms were roomy and comfortable. At check in we were treated like welcome friends. Breakfast with the other guests and the hosts was a real treat. This couple enjoys hosting and serving the guests. 4-stars in my book. John and Laura, St Peters, MO.
Loved everything about our stay at the Baert Baron Mansion. It was my first experience at a B&B and I truly felt like a family member. I thought it would be awkward having breakfast each morning with strangers, but Anna made us all feel comfortable with her heartwarming stories. The room was impeccable, leaving no detail unattended. Every day we woke with a superb breakfast and every evening a delightful (large) dessert. There are very few places that I would highly recommend but I would not hesitate telling anyone to make a reservation. It is an experience, not just a place to hang your hat. If you are visiting anywhere near the Holland, MI area, Vic's & Anna's place is a MUST. You are sure to be riveted by stories and leave without hunger and have stomach pains from laughing. Thank you Anna & Vic. You both are two in a million. Tina Varney
We come back every year. We have been coming to stay here since they first started. We come twice a year, and keep coming back for the love of the area and the love of staying on this boat. The owners are the best and they treat everyone like family.
The Prairieside Suites was the perfect get-a-way! It was exactly what my Husband and I were hoping for. I could not recommend this Bed and Breakfast more. We will definitely stay here again.
