Great weekend. Stephanie and Bob were very cordial. The other guests mixed well with everyone. Gardens and Happy hour were very nice. Rooms were very pretty. The house was close to track which meant walking was easy. Local restaurants were excellent. The Krashocs
My husband and I stayed in John's lovely home a few days ago. John is by far the inn's best feature, which is strong praise. He is a very sweet, kind, generous man, and is genuinely interested in getting to know his guests. We were welcomed like old friends and felt right at home immediately. Every room in the inn is decorated thoughtfully and elegantly. John has an amazing eye for art and objets, and he stashes wondrous and fascinating little decor details everywhere. I could have wandered around the house for hours and been absorbed in details. The fundamentals are also very nice-- the bed was soft and comfy, and the rooms are big and airy. The bathrooms have copious lovely marble tile everywhere. I am really looking forward to my next trip!
My husband and I stayed at the Gardner Farm Inn a few days ago (late August 2015). We stayed in the John Waters room. Like all of the common spaces in the inn, our room was decorated very thoughtfully. I could have spent hours wandering around the house staring at all the little details. John has an amazing eye for art and antiques, and general objets. The rooms are airy and spacious, and the bathrooms are lovely marble all around. John is a kind and generous soul. He welcomed us into his home and he treated us like old friends. I can't wait to go back!
Cannot say enough good things about this hidden gem in upstate NY. This was the first trip to Saratoga Springs and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, and the innkeepers definitely make your stay welcoming. I'm from the South and I certainly wasn't expecting the country feel and beautiful location so close to Downtown. A true Treasure in all aspects!!!
This is our second year staying at the Glens Falls Inn while going to the races at Saratoga. We came back because the Inn is a great value and an easy shot into Saratoga. That being said, there are so many little things the GFI folks could have done to make our stay more pleasant. For example: Oil the bathroom door so it doesn't squeak so horribly. Tell us the wifi password. Turn the air conditioning up (68 is a bit frigid). Stop playing The Pina Colada Song on an infinite loop. Make up the bed. Offer plain yogurt in addition to artificially sweetened. Amanda the innkeeper stuck her head in our bedroom long enough to ask us what credit card we wanted to use to pay; other than that we never saw an innkeeper, not when we got in (admittedly, after 9 pm), any morning, or when we left. GFI is clean and pretty and reasonably comfortable (though the Adirondack Room is very noisy when people in the Saratoga Room watch TV until midnight), just not very hands on with the guests.
The Gardener Farm Inn is a beautiful inviting B&B. The rooms are spectacular with antiques furnishings with new private baths in each. The finishings are so lovely...like the lighting and woodwork. John the Innkeeper is as friendly and welcoming as one will find. Highly recommended!
We spent three days at this inn with two other couples and were very impressed with the quality of the rooms and the service. Jane and Page could not have been nicer. They were attentive to every detail. We would definitely return again.
When we were searching places to stay we came across this farm B&B. Wonderful old farm home, out in the country. So quite, could here the crickets at night. The nights were so cool, no air conditioning was needed. The host were very sweet, and hospitable!! Would definitely go again!! Felt very comfortable, better than home!!
We stayed at this wonderful B&B overlooking the Mohawk River for 2 nights in July. It was such a great experience, like going back in time. We relaxed with a glass of wine out on the back porch overlooking the river both nights! We stayed in the Mohawk room overlooking the river. The breakfast was made to order and delicious! This is a great location and only 15 minutes from Saratoga Springs! We definitely plan on visiting again!
My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at Oakcliff. The owner (John) was quite gracious, and fun to talk to (quite knowledgable about the area, art, antiques, etc). Room and furnishings were perfect. Home lovingly restored to its Greek revival splendor. Beautiful views of the Erie Canal network and just a short drive to Saratoga and Ballston Spa. A great value as well. Even the inn dog, Tanner (wirehair Dasch.) was sweet. Will definitely return.
Just spent the weekend and could not have asked for more. Rick and Lorrie opened their home to us and could not be more accommodating. The rooms were clean and attention was paid to every detail. They are gracious hosts and work hard to create a very pleasant experience for their guests. Thank you for your hospitality. Keep doing what you do.
The house is lovely and well situated, the rooms, and shared spaces, including outdoor space, excellent. However, we ended up eating OUT twice (of 3 days) for breakfast. There is NO HOT BREAKFAST at this "B&B". This is an age where most of us don't want to eat carbs no matter how delicious in the morning. Muffins, Scones and Bread do not a breakfast make. Eggs, Sausage/bacon, even cereal, do. This has to be said, because Bob doesn't understand this. Be aware of this if you like a good start to your morning with a hearty breakfast. You won't find it here. I highly recommend they hire someone to cook up eggs and bacon to order in the mornings. It would cost them very little to do so, and make much happier customers. If breakfast isn't your thing, the home is lovely, the towels plentiful, and the innkeepers very friendly and helpful.
We stayed at Saratoga Farmstead B&B for two nights and wished we would have made it three. The B&B is clean, charming with beautiful rooms. The house offers four terraces in a residential area just outside Saratoga. We went there for biking and enjoying the weekend in the charming city. The innkeepers, Mariana & Rosemary, are wonderful hosts serving the most amazing breakfast. It became the highlight of our day. It was a real pleasure meeting them. We are grateful for the hospitality that made our weekend perfect. The drive from NYC to Saratoga is just about 2.5 hours, therefore it is perfect for a weekend out of the city. We recommend it and would go back without hesitation.
This was our first stay at a Bed & Breakfast and we were so happy to have found Union Gables. It was my husband's birthday and upon arrival, there was a birthday card in the room for him. Such a nice personal touch. The entire Inn and premises were super clean. We were very impressed by the architecture and decor. The staff was very welcoming, polite and accommodating. The complimentary wine, before dinner hours, was a wonderful way to wind down from our long drive. Wine in hand, we explored the beautifully maintained property and garden areas, in ground heated pool area and spacious relaxing front porch. Prior to leaving for dinner, we enjoyed a game of pool in the billiards room. The Inn was centrally located, within walking distance to great dining, shopping and pubs that hosted night entertainment. It was also a very short drive to the casino, which was a wonderful way to end our evening. The made to order breakfast and service was great, hosting a separate room filled with fresh fruit, juices, breads, yogurt, mini muffins. They also had great coffee and selection of Stash teas (available throughout the day/night). We stayed in the Edward room, which was spacious with and en suite, filled with natural sunlight, a comfortable king sized bed and lovely decor. All in all, our stay at Union Gables was a wonderful and memorable experience.
The Saratoga Farmstead B&B is a lovely 'green' establishment just a very short drive from main st Saratoga Springs. The rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable-- just what you should expect from a B&B; a place to return to. The Innkeepers are warm and helpful, yet unobtrusive. And Breakfast was delicious.
My husband and I enjoyed two nights and two delicious breakfasts prepared by our very accommodating hosts! The farmstead is charming and immaculate . Very close to Skidmore college and downtown Saratoga . And great place to stay !!
My siblings and I are located across the US so we found Saratoga Springs to be a perfect meeting place. Our decision to stay at the Union Gables was 1st based on the confidence and warmth from the reservation phone call with Jane. Carla and Jane (& chef Bruce) made our stay more than perfect! Elegant yet casual, historical enlightenment, superb food and service. We visited every area of the Inn and sat in every seating and fireplace area! We loved it so much we are returning for a summer retreat visit and a winter visit to celebrate our birthdays! Jane, our Innkeeper was instrumental in our success of our family reunion. As we hugged farewell I found myself with a tear in my eyes, as I knew I would truly miss Union Gables and look forward to a speedy return!! Thank you all for such a beautiful experience.
We finally got to enjoy, so much, a stay at Union Gables after having driven by it during the last 30 years! Thanks to Tom and Jane for making us feel right at home from the minute we arrived to the last cup of coffee before leaving. Our only regret was that we did not have a chance to spend more time relaxing in front of the fireplaces and taking in the beauty and comfort of our surroundings. But we will rectify that in the future! Sarah & Wally Morrison
While in Saratoga for a kids chess tournament that was held at a neighboring convention center, it was a welcoming option for our family to retreat from the chaos of that hotel into our Union Gables home for the weekend. We felt like we were at home. Our room was relaxing, quiet and had everything we needed. In this environment we were able to relax, prep for tournaments and decompress. This was our second stay at Union Gables and we'll certainly return. Kids aren't normally allowed at the inn but they were kind enough to make the exception for this weekend, which allowed parents to better prepare their kids for the tournament (something difficult to conceive of had we stayed at a commercial hotel).
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Union Gables this past Valentine's weekend. The Inn is beautifully restored and well maintained and after speaking with Tom it's obvious he and his wife Barbara take great pride in their properties which shows. Jane is a terrific hostess who was very accommodating and the breakfast was excellent. Our room was very comfortable, with the fireplace making it especially cozy on some very cold evenings. My wife and I look forward to future stays at Union Gables!
This was my second stay at the Bunker Hill Inn and I'm glad I returned. Laura is wonderful and made us feel like family. The Inn is comfortable and well suited for a weekend getaway. It's located in a beautiful farming area of NY so it feels like an escape, but one can still visit Saratoga Springs conveniently. Highly recommend!
