We were warmly greeted by John, Susan, and Tanner as the first guests at this new bed and breakfast, located an easy 15 minute drive from Saratoga Springs. After our tour of the house, beautifully furnished with period pieces, we felt right at home. We stayed in the Mohawk Room, which faces the river and provides a cooling breeze. The high canopy bed was very comfortable, and the room and the adjoining bathroom were spotless. The back of the house overlooks the Mohawk River and we enjoyed relaxing on the comfortable rocking chairs and 2-person hammock there. Breakfast was delicious-- perfectly scrambled eggs, french toast, pressed coffee, tasty sweet breads from a local bakery, fresh fruit, and more. We weren't hungry again until dinner! John provided excellent suggestions for things to do and see in the area, as well as further afield. John and Susan's extensive travels are reflected in their ability to make their guests feel welcomed and comfortable.
We prefer to stay in B&Bs when we travel. On the first morning the 'continental breakfast' was nearly non-existent. There was a coffee machine and a few things in the kitchen that looked leftover from the previous day. A gentleman showed up but did not replenish the food. He never spoke to us nor acted as though he cared we were there. The second morning there was adequate food, but nothing special: some fruit, some muffins, some cereal. Bundles of clean laundry stayed in the kitchen both days. The room had weeks of dust accumulated. Fresh towels were not provided for day two. Other guests were genial, but indicated they were also disappointed.
We stayed with Bob & Stephanie for a long weekend in Saratoga Springs - just the right amount of time to take in a concert at SPAC, catch the races at the track, and do some local sightseeing. The B&B is perfectly situated within walking distance of the track and "downtown" Saratoga Springs for dinner and shopping. At any B&B, the experience is a combination of the home, the innkeepers, and the other guests you meet. The home is a big beautiful house with 11 rooms of varying size. My wife and I had one of the queen-sized bed rooms with a larger bathroom. Despite the age of the home, the room was spotless and well-kept. The room admittedly was not huge, but we weren't there to lounge in comfortable bed all day :) Each morning is a very nice cold breakfast with freshly baked and tasty scones, muffins, and rolls, along with meats, cheeses, fruit, and the usual array of breakfast beverages. Bob is your friendly host and server. You're also joined by other guests. It's a perfect time to chat and learn about the area, the other guests, and horse racing (more about that later). Bob & Stephanie are wonderful innkeepers and have had this inn for over 25 years (I forget the exact number). They are a great source for local information and history. They will know anything and everything you need to know about the race track, local restaurants, sightseeing, etc. and are always willing to help. The other guests are also a highlight of the inn. We were "newbies" to the area and to horse racing in general. Bob & Stephanie's guests ranged from folks like us to very passionate horse aficionados who are very willing to share stories and advice. It made for a very entertaining breakfast. Plus, we received a lot of tips regarding enjoying the track, betting, and watching the horses. Saratoga Springs is a wonderful place to visit and Bob & Stephanie's inn is a wonderful place to stay while you are there.
Very lovely little B&B. Bob and Stephanie were extremely friendly and helpful with planning our stay in Saratoga. Home-made pastries in the morning were outstanding. Perfect location as we were able to walk in one direction to the racetrack and in the other direction to downtown Saratoga and Congress Park. An easy walk in either direction.
We loved the races and racing museum and the location for attending both of those was terrific. The location to Broadway was great too. We had a great time visiting Westchester B&B and appreciated all the details you have developed to make your visitors feel at home and comfortable. Thank You
My son and I stayed 2 nights at Bunker Hill for the first time while visiting family. Couldn't have been more pleased from the comfortable room with 2 twin beds, delicious breakfasts, gracious hostess, 2 sweet doggies, and a more than reasonable price. Will definitely stay at Bunker Hill again.
Mariana and Rosemary are wonderful hosts. They are attentive to every detail and breakfast the next morning is delicious. The Farmstead B&B is a comfortable, scenic, and relaxing place to stay in Saratoga Springs.
Bob and Stephanie provide a wonderful house in a beautiful neighborhood of Saratoga Springs. We were within walking distance of the downtown area and of the tracks. Bob is an interesting conversationalist and ready with facts and information on Saratoga.
A beautiful peaceful place, with a porch looking out over gardens and rolling lawns and a lovely refreshing swimming pool. The rooms were very comfortable and breakfast was delicious and nicely presented. The hosts are welcoming and are there if needed but not overly so. The house dates from the 1770s and the addition from the 1880s, all carefully restored. We were fortunate with bright sunny weather, but if it had rained there were lots of board games to try out and a good selection of books too. We look forward to staying at the Altamont Inn again as a meeting place for our spread out family.
Stayed here for July 4th weekend, and it was exceptional! Beautifully appointed, meticulously maintained, wonderful breakfasts (specials and a menu selection) with waitstaff employees, very charming. Walk to swim beach. Also highly recommend UpRiver Cafe just around the corner for dining on the River.
We had a very pleasant stay. Location is great, short walking or biking distance to many attractions. Owners were very friendly & accommodating. Breakfast was light & not a "hot" breakfast, but it was satisfying. It may get old if staying for more than 2-3 days. Only other complaint was lack of blinds...making it very difficult to sleep past sunrise, which comes early in the summer :) Overall, had a great stay & would return.
This place was home away from home! Everything was such a delight. The grounds were soo beautiful and kept up very nice. Which was a perfect compliment to the inside. The decor throughout the inside was just as beautiful. Perfectly maintained for my fussy taste :) love love love the GREEN LIFE!!! Can't wait to go back in 2015!!!!
I stayed with family in the Carriage House Apartment for a few days in June 2014. I was very impressed with it. The apartment was very spacious yet it still felt cosy and inviting. It's location is great, very close to shops and restaurants. The inn keepers were friendly. If I had the opportunity to stay there again, I would. I really enjoyed the time spent there.
Started the mornings off with a delicious home cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs, blueberry pancakes, coffee. Fresh Fruit, cereal, juice, tea, milk readily available. This was served in the lovely Dining Room while enjoying the company of a delightful family enroute to Maine. After a day filled with visiting, sight seeing and shopping, my room was a comfy, cozy haven of rest and relaxation. Slept like a baby only to be awakened by the smell of something wonderful for breakfast and the opportunity of meeting new arrivals!
We had a wonderful time in Saratoga. Great value. Beautiful grounds. Lovely swimming pool. As runners we enjoyed the Railroad Trail and proximity to the Park Spa. Close to our favorite restaurant. Easy walk downtown. The hosts were very accommodating, friendly, understanding and provided a great rate. We can't wait to go back
I trully enjoyed my stay at the Saratoga Farmsted inn. THey cared about me from the start even calling me as I drove up late at night to make sure I was okay. The room was charming and the breakfast... well just outstanding. They were so careful to make sure I was happy. It felt like being in a very special place. Definitely a place to come back to!
It was a surprise to find this lovely, tranquil spot so close to downtown Saratoga. Our room was large, well-appointed and comfortable. The breakfasts were outstanding. Mariana and Rosemary were kind and helpful. We had to leave before breakfast to catch our flight, and they left us coffee and sweet bread to tide us over! We will definitely stay here again.
In 2012, my husband surprised me with a weekend getaway at this Inn as I have never experienced an inn stay before. We loved it! Gene and Linda were wonderful and the service between them and their staff were outstanding. So very relaxing. This year, we went back as a birthday present to my husband as I felt he deserved the best. Lamplight Inn is the best and I am looking forward to our next getaway there! :)
