My husband and I stayed in the guest house in back for two last weekend. It was a cold weekend but the in room fireplace kept us toasty and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub for two was also a nice treat. The inn keepers and staff were extrordinarily pleasant and helpful. Gene is a great cook, breakfast was the best I have had in any bed and breakfast thus far, and hotel for that matter! Linda makes all the breads and they are fabulous along with homemade granola and fresh fruit salad. We will definitely be back! This place will not disappoint you¿¿
Our first vacation in five years was at The Saratoga Farmstead B&B. We were here for 2 nights in October. Mariana and Rosemary were very gracious, fun to talk to, very helpful with our tour of Saratoga Springs and excellent chefs! It was a beautiful Inn inside and out! The room was impeccably clean and comfortable with a great decor. There was also a variety of great snacks, which was a surprise treat. We had a great stay and we will highly recommend it!
Best B&B I have stayed in. Would love to come back in the warmer weather to take advantage of the beautiful porches. The room was warm and cozy. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets smelled so good! I loved it! Like staying at grandma's house. And the breakfast: fantabulous! Gourmet and delicious. The owners are so friendly and kind and professional. A+!
The Saratoga Farmstead B&B was a wonderful experience. The breakfasts were delicious and healthy, the accommodations were comfortable, the house as clean as could be, we received lots of special treatment. And the property was lovely, it would be really nice to enjoy it in warm weather (lots of outdoor seating). Mariana & Rosemary were the perfect hosts; they went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The other guests all seemed to be having a great time too. I highly recommend this B&B (as long as you are willing to stay a short distance outside town)
We enjoyed our two nights stay at Saratoga Farmstead B&B. It is a wonderful property which has been meticulously restored. The room was clean , comfortable and quiet. The hosts Mariana and Rosemary are very helpful and warm. Lastly, the breakfasts are healthy and delicious. We will love to go back and will not hesitate in recommending it to our friends. My boyfriend came to visit me in NYC and we decided we wanted to get out of the city for a while. We settled on this gem near Saratoga Springs. Oakcliff perfectly combines history, rustic setting, and urban convenience with genuine hospitality. We were greeted with a tour of the house and informed of its history. President Grant had been a frequenter of this property! This whole house has been restored and decorated to the period (with modern touches such as a jet tub in our bathroom). We were then shown our room and given a discount coupon to one of the local restaurants. Breakfast is made largely to order. There is a full menu of choices and it is prepared for you at the time you specify. Coffee is pressed. Fruit is fresh. Eggs are hot. The back windows overlook a beautiful lake and hill landscape; it's perfect fall colors mixed with a quiet retreat. I loved that this place was an escape but we could still access downtown Saratoga Springs. Oakcliff is not far off I-87 which leads right into downtown with its bustling restaurants and shops. I would say it's about a 15 min drive but worth it for the quiet oasis away from the tourist dense downtown. In the morning, we were greeted by our hosts and enjoyed lively conversation with other guests. Our room was clean, had ample space, and the bed was comfortable. I thought I would mind more that our bathroom was detached from our room but we were the only ones using it. It's less than ten steps from the bedroom door. It was also really nice with a standalone shower and jet tub. The only critique I would have is the house is easy to miss. We weren't sure if that was the place and drove right past it at first. There is only a small historical sign out front. The place could use a nice wood sign with "Oakcliff" written on it hanging over the front porch; visible from the road but not intrusive. Overall, not a big deal. My boyfriend and I were skeptics of B&Bs before but were more than happy with Oakcliff. We will be back!
A lovely B&B in a beautiful setting. The owners could not have been more gracious and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation exceptional. S Goodwin (RI)
I stayed at the Bunker Hill Inn for two nights in September with all my siblings; we were in the area for a family wedding. The Inn was comfortable and inviting; we felt like we were at home with the perfect hostess. Laura serves a splendid hot breakfast! She also helped us with suggestions and directions, and, when we invited her, told lots of good stories about the area. I would highly recommend this inn for anyone staying in the area.
We had a wonderful time making this a home away from home with all the comforts. The house was extremely clean and the linens very comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious with a different homemade muffin for each day of our visit. The extra's were left in the guest kitchenette for snacking on later with a cup of tea or coffee. Our hosts were helpful with finding interesting things to do during our stay and some of the favorite local restaurants. We plan to return in the near future!
My husband were enjoying a wonderful weekend at the Brunswick B&B - great location, great food, great service. Everything was just lovely. And then - on the day we were leaving, this place catapulted itself into one of the best places we ever stayed. We called Saratoga Taxi for a cab to the train station (NEVER, EVER USE THEM) and after waiting 45 mins for a taxi that they said would take 15 minutes (we called numerous times and kept hearing that it would be there in 5 / 10 / 15 minutes etc.), we realized they were not coming and we were about to miss our train. We frantically asked the B&B if we could pay them for a ride to the station - they got us right into their car and took us to there in time for our train, and wouldn't accept payment or tip. That is amazing service, and really above and beyond what you expect from a place of lodging, so THANK you Brunswick B&B! We will be back, and we will recommend you to anyone going to Saratoga Springs.
Everything was wonderful. The whole property was decorated so tastefully and carefully. Nothing was left undone or unprepared. The innkeeper was gracious, informative, and truly interested in our comfort. In this day and age, with "good enough" being the norm and plastic imitations prevalent, it is so refreshing to see such class and dignity in the hard work of running an inn. The restaurant recommendations were excellent and downtown Saratoga is a very short drive away. When you enter the inn property, you are transported to a country setting that is very quiet and refined.
The Glens Falls Inn was a wonderful place to stay. The staff is exceptional & very accommodating! The inn was clean and food was excellent. It is located where you can easily walk to most places in town. Denise, Mark & Ken were spot on with their dinner recommendations. Definitely will be returning to stay there.
The Inn was a nice place to stay for our weekend at the Saratoga Races; convenient and not so crazy expensive as staying in Saratoga Springs. Easy to get to, pretty room, decent buffet breakfast. Would go again.
We were warmly greeted by John, Susan, and Tanner as the first guests at this new bed and breakfast, located an easy 15 minute drive from Saratoga Springs. After our tour of the house, beautifully furnished with period pieces, we felt right at home. We stayed in the Mohawk Room, which faces the river and provides a cooling breeze. The high canopy bed was very comfortable, and the room and the adjoining bathroom were spotless. The back of the house overlooks the Mohawk River and we enjoyed relaxing on the comfortable rocking chairs and 2-person hammock there. Breakfast was delicious-- perfectly scrambled eggs, french toast, pressed coffee, tasty sweet breads from a local bakery, fresh fruit, and more. We weren't hungry again until dinner! John provided excellent suggestions for things to do and see in the area, as well as further afield. John and Susan's extensive travels are reflected in their ability to make their guests feel welcomed and comfortable.
We prefer to stay in B&Bs when we travel. On the first morning the 'continental breakfast' was nearly non-existent. There was a coffee machine and a few things in the kitchen that looked leftover from the previous day. A gentleman showed up but did not replenish the food. He never spoke to us nor acted as though he cared we were there. The second morning there was adequate food, but nothing special: some fruit, some muffins, some cereal. Bundles of clean laundry stayed in the kitchen both days. The room had weeks of dust accumulated. Fresh towels were not provided for day two. Other guests were genial, but indicated they were also disappointed.
We loved staying at Rick and Lorrie's bed and breakfast from July 20-22. They were probably the most congenial hosts we've ever had--very welcoming, friendly, helpful, yet respectful of our privacy. I loved the smell, look, and feel of the old house, including the quaint steps leading upstairs, which were green and painted with cityscapes. Our room (the Lakeview room) was beautiful with wonderful views of the lake, as advertised. Breakfasts, made by Lorrie, were delicious, inventive, and featured fresh herbs from her garden and edible flowers. The inn's private dock overlooking Mariaville Lake was is a great place to sit and have a meditative morning before you begin your day--much tranquility and peace there. We also had a great dinner in Schenectady at Aperitivo, which the hosts recommended--it's "high end" but delicious and worth the price. Lastly, we brought our bikes, and Rick very kindly accommodated us by letting us store them in his shed. We highly recommend this B&B and will definitely consider coming back!
We stayed with Bob & Stephanie for a long weekend in Saratoga Springs - just the right amount of time to take in a concert at SPAC, catch the races at the track, and do some local sightseeing. The B&B is perfectly situated within walking distance of the track and "downtown" Saratoga Springs for dinner and shopping. At any B&B, the experience is a combination of the home, the innkeepers, and the other guests you meet. The home is a big beautiful house with 11 rooms of varying size. My wife and I had one of the queen-sized bed rooms with a larger bathroom. Despite the age of the home, the room was spotless and well-kept. The room admittedly was not huge, but we weren't there to lounge in comfortable bed all day :) Each morning is a very nice cold breakfast with freshly baked and tasty scones, muffins, and rolls, along with meats, cheeses, fruit, and the usual array of breakfast beverages. Bob is your friendly host and server. You're also joined by other guests. It's a perfect time to chat and learn about the area, the other guests, and horse racing (more about that later). Bob & Stephanie are wonderful innkeepers and have had this inn for over 25 years (I forget the exact number). They are a great source for local information and history. They will know anything and everything you need to know about the race track, local restaurants, sightseeing, etc. and are always willing to help. The other guests are also a highlight of the inn. We were "newbies" to the area and to horse racing in general. Bob & Stephanie's guests ranged from folks like us to very passionate horse aficionados who are very willing to share stories and advice. It made for a very entertaining breakfast. Plus, we received a lot of tips regarding enjoying the track, betting, and watching the horses. Saratoga Springs is a wonderful place to visit and Bob & Stephanie's inn is a wonderful place to stay while you are there.
My husband, son and I stayed at the cottage for a long weekend while we collected our daughter from a camp at Union college. It was a quick commute and a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of a city. The lake is located across a street but hardly a car went by even on the weekend. And to our utmost surprise the lake is quiet with little jet ski or motor boat noise. The cottage was perfect for our family of 4 and we even had 2 friends stay at the main house but join us for a picnic dinner and camp fire.Rick was friendly and available to answer our every question. We took his advice and did both the waterfall hike and beaver damn walk. Both wonderful. He also stocked our fridge with organic goodies to start our day. Very welcome after a long drive up from northern virginia. Thank you Rick and have a great end of summer! The Dietrich's (July 2014)
Very lovely little B&B. Bob and Stephanie were extremely friendly and helpful with planning our stay in Saratoga. Home-made pastries in the morning were outstanding. Perfect location as we were able to walk in one direction to the racetrack and in the other direction to downtown Saratoga and Congress Park. An easy walk in either direction.
We loved the races and racing museum and the location for attending both of those was terrific. The location to Broadway was great too. We had a great time visiting Westchester B&B and appreciated all the details you have developed to make your visitors feel at home and comfortable. Thank You
My son and I stayed 2 nights at Bunker Hill for the first time while visiting family. Couldn't have been more pleased from the comfortable room with 2 twin beds, delicious breakfasts, gracious hostess, 2 sweet doggies, and a more than reasonable price. Will definitely stay at Bunker Hill again.
