I had such an incredible experience with Petit Soleil, I felt like I was right at home. My father and I stayed in the Au Bon Marche room. The temperature was good, comfortable beds, cozy furniture and atmosphere, and very nice bathroom. Breakfast was GREAT, plus you get chocolate truffles delivered with the next days weather every night to your room. :) The owners and staff are extremely friendly. I am transferring to Cal Poly this coming year and Dianne, one of the owners, made sure to check in with me each day about how my visit to Cal Poly was; she made my father and I feel extremely welcome. If you are going to stay somewhere in San Luis Obispo, this is the place you should choose.
Perfect hotel that combines the charm of a traditional bed and breakfast with the luxuries and amenities of larger properties. Mere steps from the sand, with spectacular sunsets over the historic Cayucos Pier and amazing food and wine. Spent a two night weekend in the winter and we could not have been more pleased. Excellent staff and spreads for breakfast, social hour and dessert. We will definitely return.
We found the listing by looking for places advertised as close to Hearst Castle. This b&b is over an hour away (67 miles). Although the place was lovely, it was much further than we wanted to be for the purpose of our visit.
We enjoyed our short stay in SLO, just a few blocks from the main shopping district and the Thursday night market! Close drive to the 5 beach cities. And Splash shares the parking lot. We were in the Van Gogh room on the end is decorated with replicas of his work, even the yellow room on the shower curtain and cute linens from Provence covering the windows. The staff were very friendly and served many glasses of wines. Hors d'ouevres were delicious and tasty! You won't miss the breakfast with sounds of fun chatter and delicious scents of the breakfast wafted up to our room overlooking the crowded patio. We were offered 2 breakfast choices and lots of bakery items, fresh cut fruit, juices, and coffee at the buffet bar. John and Dianne were graciously serving breakfast! Thank you!
On the Beach was simply delightful! From the moment we arrived - offered wine and yummy appetizers, to the champagne in our room for our anniversary celebration... the service was friendly and thoughtful. The quality of linens, amenities, etc were fantastic. The homemade breakfasts in the morning were outstanding... quiche, Italian-style breakfast casserole, buttermilk pancakes with maple butter... Thanks, OTB...you have a remarkable place!
Visited Morro Bay for wife's birthday and could not have made a better selection of where to stay. The young lady (whose name I wish I could remember) was so welcoming. She walked me to the room, explained specifics in detail, and was just oh so nice. It was really close to Embarcadero - a 5-minute walk. And our room had a perfect view of the Rock! The cherry on top was when we found out that our breakfast would actually be at Franky and Lola's Cafe. Talk about sweet!!! Great time and we'll definitely be returning to this place.
I believe this is our 7 th stay. This time for 3 nights. (Too short) We have been very impressed with Kaleidscpoe for every stay. We sent our middle daughter here for her honey moon and they loved it so much they came for their anniversary as well. We have had all three daughters stay with us when they could. This is our #1 favorite place to get away with so much to do within an hour to great places. Thank you!!
Stayed at Kaleidoscope during a weekend golf trip. The courses I played were within 10 minutes of the B&B, whereas any hotel I could find would have been a 30+ minute drive! Was a great place in a perfect spot!
We were very impressed with Petit Soleil,.. unique and special attention to little details. Defiantly will return for a visit. Close to downtown shopping and Avila Beach was a short drive down the hwy.
The garden and rooms at the Kaleidoscope Inn & Gardens are truly delightful. I stayed in the Carriage House which has it's own private garden area as well. The only thing I would caution is that my reservation made through bedandbreakfast.com had trouble getting through to the owners. I would recommend calling ahead of time to confirm the reservation. Even though that happened, the owner was awesome and upgraded my room for the inconvenience. The breakfast in the morning was top-notch and eating it in the garden is highly recommended. Loved every minute of staying here and I recommend it to anyone traveling in California.
My wife and I had our wedding at the Kolidescope the night before the wedding she and her friend dtayed in the carriage room and said it was wonderful the night of our wedding we stayed in the same room I found it very comfortable the staff was excellent and very friendly ... For our wedding Carolyn was very helpful she set us up with the central coast dream team of wedding services the staff at the Kolidescope went above and beyond for our wedding day celebration everything was beautiful I couldn't of asked for anything better
My boyfriend and I had a short getaway from San Diego. We had tickets to Hearst Castle and decided to stay in Morro Bay for first time. My boyfriend is very casual and not a B&B type so this place seemed perfect. We got upgraded and what a blessing. The room was like a mini apartment and was cozy and comfy. The food options were great and the people in town were so friendly. I highly recommend this place and Frankie & Lola's and the bakery ice cream shop next to empty lot!!!
Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean. But the house is in a neighborhood hood with several noisy dogs. They weren't noisy at night, it was very quiet, but during the day was another story. Breakfast the first day was great, the second day I couldn't even eat it (prepared by a different person). This is a cute little house and we enjoyed our stay, but the property needs some work/upkeep, and the noisy dogs really should be reported.
This is the first time we have ever stayed at a true Bed & Breakfast location. I travel quite a bit and have stayed in countless hotels, but this was my first experience at a B&B. I must say that the Beach Bungalow in Morro Bay is a place we would go to again and again. Our host was gracious. The room was excellent and the Breakfast/Lunch options were very good. Thank you!
Me and my wife stayed here for couple of days and a very pleasant stay. Very polite management. Beautiful garden, good breakfast. I am not one of those folks who easily put 5 stars so 4 stars to all!
First trip to Morro Bay and could not have picked a better place to stay. Nice extra touch being escourted to your room. Once there and looking at the other places in the area to stay at, this will be my choice next time as well. And there will be a next time.
Spent last weekend there getting our son moved and ready for another year at Cal Poly. Had our Golden Retriever with us and we were treated like royalty. From the moment we ck'd in, to the wine tasting to breakfast the following morning, WoW, what an awesome time. Due to our work my wife and I have had to spend a lot of time on the road both domestically and international and still we cannot say enough about Petit Soleil. Sunday morning I took my dog out for her morning "thing" and between the appearance of the establishment, the smells coming out of the kitchen, the low hanging fog I wld have bet serious money I was in a BnB in southern Germany, France or any of the beautiful spots we've been fortunate enough to experience. Lastly, cannot say enough about the owners and staff.....we came as strangers and left as friends we plan on seeing time and time again ! Yes, it may be a ill' pricey to do every time we visit our son, but the lasting experience and feelings, especially on Monday morning when we are back working tells me we will go as often as we can and hey......son may just have to start helping a little with the tuition !! :0) T and I from Fresno
Room was very clean, but was in need of a handy man. Paint needed to be touched up, closet door would not stay closed(had to stuff paper under it), had to pull bedroom door firmly to make sure it would stay close. Shower was in bathroom at top floor of house, that has a slanted roof. Husband & son had to hold head sideways to get under water. When it came time for the wedding, the staff turned the backyard into a wonderful venue. We ate 2 breakfast there, and they were good, but my men would have liked to have meat with their meal. At night there was homemade fudge that was delicious.
The Beach Bungalow Inn and Suites were just what we needed after a long drive - a perfect view of Morro Rock, a clean and well appointed room (and an upgrade at check-in!), a beautiful shower, and a fireplace to warm us during the night fog. The staff was friendly and helpful and the Inn is just a few short blocks from the bay-front restaurants and shops. The "breakfast" portion is in vouchers for the restaurants on the bay- Frank and Lola's is what we chose, and it was a great breakfast! Large full portions of whatever entree is on the menu plus coffee. It was a great stay and we definitely recommend them!
Busy nurses needed time off and it was just Great!!! The room was spectacular so close to the beach. The breakfast was amazing!!! The staff are so polite and welcoming. The only regret was that we couldn't stay longer...:(
My wife and I just finished a wonderful three night stay at On the Beach. This was our second visit. Our huge room was on the second floor, facing the ocean and Cayucos pier. The view was stunning! The staff at this establishment is tops. The breakfasts and evening wine events were exceptional. The staff even gave us some of their recipes. We will visit again!!!
We arrived to an empty house, however, Kevin came quickly and set us up with locations of interest, directions, reservations adn everything we needed to enjoy our stay and the area. The rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable, the gardens and grounds astounding adn inviting. We would definitley return. The breakfast and the cook were great starts to each day that we were there.
If you are looking for a spotless, cozy and comfortable place to stay with awesome views, then this is it!! My Husband and I went for our 27th anniversary and spent a romantic evening curled up by the fire.We had excellent service in a friendly atmosphere. Absolutely worth the price. Very laid back town with nice people.
We stayed here in mid-October, mid-week, so avoided the crowded tourist times. While I love dogs, I'm allergic so we chose one of the corner suites as they are kept exclusively for guests without pets. The renovations are extremely well-done, the decor attractive & comfortable, and having a full kitchen & two bathrooms was very welcome. I appreciated the quick email reply from Jim Bray in answer to my pre-booking question, and especially appreciated his savvy recommendation for our next stop on this driving trip (in Monterey). We really liked the easy-to-use fireplaces and extensive TV channels. The only recommendation I have - and it's a minor one - is to provide a larger place for toiletries inside the shower (e.g., a floor-to-ceiling tension pole with attached racks/baskets which wouldn't require any permanent changes). We especially appreciated the unique way of offering breakfast - we ate at two of the spots, both of which were excellent in their own ways. We lost our covered parking place the second night, which made me wonder how tight it might be during peak season, but for this stay it was no problem. Both of us have traveled extensively around the world, and enjoyed this unpretentious, attractive, comfortable spot in a part of CA worth the trip.
