Our stay at Casa De Las Palapas surpassed any and all of our expectations. Can't beat the views or the location. The pool is perfect for a friendly volleyball game. But I can't say enough about the staff at the villa. The service and especially the food were excellent. No need to leave the property. You definitely get your moneys worth. Loved it so very much. Already planning a return trip.
What an incredible experience Alex and his team have created at Rivera Del Rio! As a fairly regular visitor to the beauty of Puerto Vallarta, I have stayed in a lot of different accommodations over the years. But never have I had such an amazing stay than during my time this past week at Rivera Del Rio. From my check-in welcome in the lobby with a warm smile and cold margarita before being personally shown to my quarters, to the friendly and efficient housekeeping staff, to Alex’s willingness to accommodate any reasonable request on a moment’s notice to make his guests more comfortable... all interactions were professional, yet genuine and unpretentious. The property is delightful in almost every way, transporting guests to a time of Old Hollywood glamour, while still offering all of the modern amenities and creature comforts (luxury mattresses, top-end textiles and toiletries, perfectly adjustable A/C, USA-configured electrical outlets, etc). Staying at Rivera Del Rio will allow you to see more of the tourist areas from a safe and relaxing setting—a quick 10 minute stroll to the waterfront at the Malecon or Los Muertos Beach, and easy access in even less time to the colorful interior avenues of Zona Romantica with many interesting shops and well-reviewed restaurants, as well as the open air markets just over the foot bridge on the opposite side of the river. Do not hesitate to book here if you are open to getting outside of the all-inclusive resort mindset, or the generic trappings of a more traditional hotel property. Rivera Del Rio is a very special place indeed, for spirited travelers of all ages and lifestyles, and I sensed a team committed to making it even more enchanting in the years ahead.
The architecture and the decor of this place transports you to a different time and place. My amazement and delight grew with every step I took as I entered the place for the first time, and then, over the next 7 days, as I continued to explore it and discover new joys. It's equally suitable for a honeymoon, a solo trip, and a family vacation - a great primer for the kids on various architectural styles, decor elements, eclectic approach, use of color, mixing old and new with great taste. And read to them the tales from 1001 Nights while you are there, for an unforgettable childhood experience. Turned me into a wide-eyed kid, too. Stayed 4 nights in Scarlet room and 3 in Green room. Scarlet has a large accordion door to the private balcony, if you push it to the side, the whole room becomes one huge balcony, overlooking the river. Green has direct access to outdoor pool and bar. Plenty of beautiful large windows in every suite. As other reviews noted, service and amenities are excellent. Location: PV Old Town, 4 blocks to the beach and the Malecon, endless choices for food and entertainment within steps. If driving or taking a taxi, get to the intersection of Jacarandas & Aquiles Serdan. (Make sure you give this direction to your driver, they don't know about this place as it is new). From there, it's a few steps to the unpaved Rivera del Rio where the #106 is located. It stands directly on the shore of Rio Cuale, with live iguanas sitting in the trees. Drinking water: I started with a few sips and progressed to several bottles a day directly from the tap, with absolutely no stomach events. Safety: as single female, had no problems walking to-from the hotel at night.
We rented Casa de Las Palapas to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday with friends. With five bedrooms, four floors and numerous bathrooms there was room to spread out for quiet/private time but also wonderful communal areas to hang out in together. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Manuel helpfully arranged activities and drove us where we needed to go. He even helped to arrange a visit to the doctor for one of our party with an ear infection. The meals were fantastic and Marisela was happy to accommodate our requests even if not on the published menu. She was also wonderful about ordering a cake for delivery for my husband's birthday. The house was kept clean and neat thanks to Luz Maria. It was not an issue for our group but I would caution potential guests that there are 96 stairs from the pool to the upper floor where the kitchen and eating area are. I would not recommend this home for elderly or handicapped individuals or for people with very young children. Overall, we had an amazing time at Casa de Las Palapas and would absolutely return again.
Prior to this trip I had never visited Mexico, nor had any desire to. I heard about this new place from a friend who said that I needed to check it out... I flew there on a Friday to spend the weekend, and ended up leaving on a Tuesday... it was MUCH too soon to leave! The hotel was amazing, on a tour of it, each room proved to be unique and the variety suited many different needs. Each room was beautiful, and the setup of the property was unique and fun. The location in Old Vallarta is short walking distance from gorgeous beaches, and many great restaurants and bars. You are able to escape the resort atmosphere and feel like you are tucked away in this little gem with the locals. The staff were excellent, great breakfast EVERY morning by Chayo, which they will also deliver to your room if you desire. And Monica, the staff masseuse, is extremely talented and highly recommended. In my opinion, this is the ONLY place to stay in Vallarta, I will be going back very soon!
I stayed at this property over the Christmas New Year holiday and was blown away. This is one of the most luxurious places I have ever stayed in.. you will not believe this place and WHAT A VALUE. Right in Old Town PV and breakfast cooked to order at whatever tim you choose. The beds and lines were the most comfortable beds I have ever had at a hotel and wait till you see the mother of pearl hot tub. The staff was amazing and so accomdating to all my needs. Never would I have guessed there was a property like this in Mexico.. it is a piece of ART!
When I decided to stay here I never expected the 5 Star accommodations that awaited me. If you're the type of person who needs a Concierge to tell you where to eat or what to do this isn't the place for you. If you want a gracious host who is unobtrusive and who will kindly offer up helpful suggestions... if you stop him and ask... then this is the place. Virgil is simply put, a Master Host, who speaks perfect English and Spanish and made my stay one that I will remember for a long time. He and his team prepare a breakfast that is superb. The rooms are kept clean and orderly and rival any hotel I have ever stayed in. Everyone working for Virgil was friendly, cheerful and the very best at what they do, whether it was the Gardener/Handy Man, or the maids/Kitchen Assistants. The Casa is set in the middle of a lush tropical garden, kept that way by the Gardener and there is a pool to lounge in and even a hot tub like whirlpool. I love the architecture and the 1st class materials that went into the construction of the Casa. Restaurants and an Oxxo Store are within walking distance as is the beautiful Beach. All about 10 minutes away. If you have a rental car there are unlimited places to visit for recreation or dining up and down the coast-line. Walmart is not too far for shopping and if you're lucky you can catch a ride with Virgil when he does his weekly shopping there. Taxis, while a little on the expensive side, could still be used for going to Walmart or for further excursions to Puerto Vallarta. I personally didn't need to go over to that side of Banderas Bay...I've been there many times before. This was my first trip to Nuevo Vallarta and Casa Virgilios, but it won't be my last. God Bless All of You at Casa Virgilios. I miss you already.
This was our second stay at Casa Virgilios and we were not disappointed. The warmth of Virgilio makes us feel like home. Clean, quiet, comfortable and secure, Casa Virgilios is a good starting point to access the Nuevo Vallarta beach (10minutes walk), a bus station (5 minutes walk) that will take you, for a very small fee, to downtown Puerto Vallarta or villages to the north. Virgilio will surprised you, with his ingeniousity, making a great breakfast from 9:00 to 11:00am. At breakfast you will meet other guess and share experiences, we always make friends during our stay. If you feel like staying on site, enjoy the clean pool and spa, the vegetation and birds, the manicured garden is magical. A special note, filtered water, bacteria free is available. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
A beautiful home shared with travellers to P.V. . Virgilios is a humorous man , has been there and done that..seems to belong , just like a piece of the furniture. He cooks a mean breakfast every morning and you will be anticipating the next days offering. Friendly customers enjoy chatting and cocktails around the pool. Beautiful yards, cool pool, equals an awesome place to stay. Awesome place to stay.
