We recently enjoyed a lovely, relaxing three-night stay in Sun and Cricket's wonderful Log Cabin. I cannot rave enough about the accommodation as well as the overall generous hospitality that Tara and John offered. The log cabin and the property's grounds are idyllic. The moment we walked into the cabin we immediately felt at home. The cabin is extremely clean and well appointed. The log cabin is surprisingly spacious and would comfortably accommodate up to four people. For this stay it was my husband and I staying in the upper bedroom and my aunt staying on the private lower level. The breakfasts were beyond outstanding. We have stayed at several high quality B&Bs in the US as well as in Europe, and I have to say that the breakfasts served at Sun & Cricket were easily the best we were ever served at a B&B. Every morning, a highly impressive, three-course breakfast was delivered to our table in the log cabin. We three were delighted by the quality of the food as well as the artistic presentation of courses. Beds and bedding were extremely comfortable and of a high standard. (We slept the best we have in ages as there are no sounds other than nature.) Tara's directions to various places were precise, helpful, and saved us much time. We will be returning here ASAP and recommend without reservation the Log Cabin to anyone considering it. Sun and Cricket is truly an oasis, especially for those of us presently living in areas that are hectic, overcrowded, and/or not rural, due to inflexible work commitments. Two final notes: We were very impressed with the easy, quick proximity to Pittsburgh, and we would suggest a minimum of three nights but maximum of more if you can stay longer.

A cozy, relaxing escape in a tastefully decorated carriage house. Resident horses and cats provide a welcome diversion. Breakfasts were gourmet and delicious.

We were greeted on arrival and oriented to the farm, which included meeting the dogs and horses and cats! In the evening, stacks of firewood arrived at the hearth, candles lit the windows, and wine glasses were at the ready. Each morning a new array of fruit, bread, and main dishes graced the table, with the offer of recipes or more detailed explanation of ingredients as requested. Lots of coffee, too! Hiking the woodlands, traveling the back roads of the area to find special restaurants, model train displays, antique shops....it was all wonderful. What a blessing to experience Fall in Western Pennsylvania at Sun and Cricket Farm.

John and Tara are absolutely wonderful! We (my husband, 18 month-old and I) stayed in the carriage house for a weekend! It was fantastic! They were very accommodating for my family of three- which is awesome since bringing a child along is kind of an odd thing for b&b goers, The farm was beautiful- especially with the blanket of snow we woke up to Monday morning, The location is perfect- about 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and far enough in the country that it feels like it's out in the middle of nowhere! I would LOVE to visit again and highly recommend the Sun & Cricket to anyone going to Pittsburgh!

I surprised my husband with a 4-day getaway weekend for his birthday ... first time at a B&B for both of us. Although it rained the entire time, we nevertheless had a wonderful, relaxing time. Tara and John's restaurant recommendations were dead on ... we had three superb dinners out. And Tara's breakfasts were delicious. We antiqued every day, had early dinners out and returned each evening to a fully prepared fireplace just waiting to be lit ... cozy and romantic. Due to the crummy weather, we were unable to walk the grounds and trails, or visit the barn, which were outstanding. I can imagine this place is spectacular in the summer with everything in full bloom. Would highly recommend.

The owners are experienced and will accommodate your dietary preferences. On 35-acre farm where you will find horses, dogs, and a cat. Wooded trails and the best in-ground pool, as well as tons of books & audio-books to keep you entertained. A highly recommended getaway.

Down to earth, great owners. We've stayed in many of the PA B&Bs and this is the best of them all!

Because of its unique construction, or perhaps because of its not-too-big, not-too-small size, the log cabin is a favorite of our returning guests. Its colorful, Adirondack décor, wood-burning fireplace and king-size featherbed are just a few reasons guests consistently request this cozy suite. On the main floor is a living room and library, where guests are treated to a full gourmet breakfast. On the upper level is the master bedroom and bath, accessed by a spiral staircase. The spiral staircase also leads to the lower level, which has a separate bedroom with two twin beds and another bathroom. The log cabin's amenities include: A complete library stocked with hundreds of books and audiobooks, satellite HDTV and DVD, private porch and separate stone patio, walk-in shower in master bedroom, tub/shower on lower level bedroom, dorm-size refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker, and free wireless Internet.
