    Great Value!

    marzo 21, 2013

First time staying at a B&B in Brooklyn and loved it. The room was clean and big. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets. The bathroom was in the hallway and was just fine. I was glad not to have to share it with anyone. As for the "Breakfast" the owner showed me where the eggs were in the refrigerator and how I could make them myself on the stove. This was not really an issue with me as I was planning on eating brunch at one of Brooklyn's many great restaurants. I went to Pillow Cafe and had an amazing brunch that my wife and I are still talking about. The only issue was parking. The other side of the street opens up for parking at 7:00 PM, so if you arrive before then you will have to drive around for a while until something opens up. Despite the paking, I would stay here again.

    Great find, I'll be back.

    octubre 12, 2012

This place was a great find for a reasonable price. It also happened to be right across the street from the Oriental Pavilion in Prospect Park, where I attended a friend's wedding during my stay, so that was awesome. Breakfast was a make-it-yourself event, which was perfectly fine with me. Those looking for a huge spread of pancakes, muffins, etc. may want to look elsewhere. I was fine with bread, egg, fruit. There are markets nearby too for any other desired essentials, and having a kitchen available meant I was able to fix myself a pre-wedding-ceremony lunch while I was getting dressed. I loved the relaxed feel of this place, like I was visiting an out-of-town relative who'd given me the keys to his house and told me to make myself at home. I stayed in the 2nd floor king bedroom - extremely, incredibly spacious! Shared bath was not a problem for me. Really no street noise at all that I noticed. The rear bedroom on the 2nd floor faces the back garden that backs up to a frequently used train track. Those who are noise sensitive will want to avoid the back room. TV signal was pretty thin, but why go to NYC to watch TV, right? Beautiful old dark wood, heaps of character, bay window with window seat overlooking the street and then the park, extremely charming without any Victorian frilly fuss like I have seen at other B&B's. I would recommend this place highly.

    New York Getaway August 2012

    agosto 27, 2012

The location is fantastic! Easy access to subways, Prospect Park right across the street, markets and restaurants within walking distance. The host went out of his way to make sure we were settled in. Breakfast is on your own but the full kitchen and quaint view from the king suite dining area windows over the garden more than make up for it. So spacious and affordable for a New York City location. We will definitely return and would highly recommend the Parkside B&B to our friends, family and business associates!

    Nice room

    junio 26, 2012

I wouldn't go so far as to call the Parkside a B&B. It was more like a B. Paul, the owner, checked my boyfriend and I in, but after that we never saw him again. This was all fine with us because we spent most of our time in the city. The only time we spent at the Parkside was when we were asleep. We stayed in the second floor room. It was clean and simply decorated. Air conditioning was listed in accommodations, but there is no air conditioning in this room. There is however a ceiling fan. It's just something to think about if you're staying here in the hotter summer months. There's a full size kitchen if you want to make coffee or cook for yourself. The neighborhood was a nice working class one and pretty safe. The subway is only 1.5 blocks away and on street parking is pretty easy on the weekends (if you're staying here during the weekdays you just have to remember to move your car for street cleaning or you'll get towed). It only takes about 15 minutes on the subway to get to lower Manhattan. If you want the full B&B experience I would recommend somewhere else. The Parkside is a good place if you're looking for clean. quiet and affordable lodgings with easy access to public transportation.

The only place where I'll stay when visiting NYC

    diciembre 19, 2010

Definitely worth checking out. This place is an incredible value tucked away in Prospect Park, BK. The rooms are modern (within a Victorian brownstone), super comfortable, super clean, spacious and bright. The B&B itself is located only 50 meters from the Prospect Park subway station (B and Q lines which take you directly through downtwon Brooklyn and into downtown Manhattan). The price gives you a beautiful place for a great price. The clincher though is the warm, hospitable and chilled out owners Jan and Paul. Jan really goes out of his way to make you feel like it's your place, not his place. He even rode his bike one morning 1.5 miles to the Polish grocery store to pick up a container of Polish zurek (soup) for us, because, in a conversation the night before, we had talked about it. Each time I go to NYC from now on, this is where I'll stay. Kevin & Anya

    Wonderful and Comfortable Place

    noviembre 20, 2010

The owner met us at our arrival and showed us around. He is a very nice gentlemen. Our room was bright and and comfortable. We felt safe in the area and did not feel threatened walking from the subway late at night. Our daughter moved to the area a few months ago, this was our first visit but will not be our last. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit. Great place to stay, love the neighborhood.

    Brooklyn home-away-from home

    mayo 05, 2010

I stayed at the Parkside B&B for 8 nights in April 2010 (6 days longer than I planned because of the disruption caused by the volcano eruption in Iceland). The property is handily situated roughly halfway between JFK and downtown Manhattan and only a block away from the nearest subway station (Prospect Park). I stayed in both rooms during my stay - initially in a delightfully large and bright room at the front of the property overlooking the park and then in the slightly smaller but still very comfortable room at the back. Both rooms have access to a shared bathroom and a well-stocked self-service kitchen. The B&B is owned and run by Jan who provided an exceptionally warm and welcoming service (e.g. he lent me his bicycle to explore the local area). By the time my extended stay had come to an end it feel like a home-away-from home! I will definitely be staying at the Parkside B&B again and have no hesitation in recommeding it to others.
