Again we had a wonderful stay with Jeanne and Don. They are wonderful hosts who make you feel at home. The property is in a wonderful country setting. The rooms and bathrooms are very comfortable and clean. Jeanne serves a delicious breakfast each morning. We love it and can't wait for our next visit. We had great fellowship with our friends.
We stayed at the Jewel House in the Diamond Room. We have stayed there before and chose to again because we have enjoyed it. One problem was that the door did not lock. We could lock the lock but, we could just push the door open. We were only there for 2 nights so we did not want to take any of our weekend with having someone come to fix it possibly while we were in the room. There were also empty cans and plastic cups on the wall and in the garden which looked sloppy. Lastly, check out time was 11am on Sunday and no personnel were there to accept the keys and wish us on our way. These are certainly little things however, the little things mean a lot.
Stayed in Family room at Eden Manor, a large room with private bath and attached porch-like room separated by French Doors for the kids. Family room is tucked behind dining room, but we never heard breakfast being set up in the morning. It was just outside the door with a long dining room table, but also had an ample outdoor porch for breakfast seating.
Our stay at Island Home Inn for our 10year anniversary was fantastic. I don't know whether it was the delicious breakfast, the fine details and items of the home which transported us back to the days of old, or the laid back and approachable demeanor of the "Captain" [innkeeper]. We loved it and will be back for another pleasant getaway.
A great location, beautiful, historic and elegant house with modern conveniences. Michael and Heather are very welcoming and gracious hosts. Breakfasts are special, delicious and varied without being ostentatious or too rich like some B&B we've visited. Highly recommended.
Our family occupied both rooms in this clean, pleasant cape cod style B&B. The bathroom was between the two bedrooms. The decor was updated and a light, airy beachy theme. Rachel was accessible and a gracious host. She always appeared on cue to check if we needed anything during breakfast. Breakfast itself was lots of carbs, muffins from a boxed mix, bagels, English muffins, cereal, instant oatmeal.Egg dish was a small quiche ( very small). Fresh fruit was cantaloupe. We would stay here again. 2 blocks from the cliff walk and close to the wharf.
We were glad to have found the place and loved that they let us bring our little Cairn Terrier with us. When we got there at 6pm on a Saturday they seemed surprised that we were coming in that late and that we had our dog with us. Checking the pet option on the website does not tell them that - not my problem but it could have been if they were less accommodating. Everything turned out fine and we even got to skip the $25 pet fee which was good since it was not part of the deal I signed up for. We walked with our dog downtown and had seafood at a restaurant on the dock. We walked through some beautiful neighborhoods on the way back as well. Great sleep that night in a clean room - I would like to rate high on cleanliness because their was nothing wrong - but it was not in excess of my expectations. The breakfast was amazing out in the courtyard with our dog and some of the other guests and their dog. We walked to cliffs after breakfast, took in some ocean views and gazed at some great mansions on the island. Even a tour of Salve Regina University and some of the great buildings they own. We returned to our car and checked out at noon. I really liked that we were able to stay in a bed and breakfast with our dog in beautiful Newport RI.
We should have made it a point to make our reservation earlier in order to get a larger room. the Skylar room was simply too small for our taste. It is too long a walk to the main downtown area where all the "action" is. So, that should be taken into consideration in booking it. The hospitality and the gourmet breakfast were wonderful!
The innkeepers were pleasant & helpful- their son was also the same. I would return for a second visit. The patio off the room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. It was good to have A/C. Suggestion-a grab bar for the shower would be helpful.
Newport is extremely expensive, so the high price of the Almondy Inn was in fact quite reasonable. Excellent location. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected in an old house. Newer bathroom fixtures would improve the rooms a lot. Very good breakfast. Charming hostess - discreet, and a good reader of people's desire for sociability (or not).
I stayed one night with my family in the Eden Manor in august 2014. This manor is very beautiful, traditionally styled. It has a beautiful garden where you can relax and even have a dip in the small pool. The owners are very nice, welcoming people. I highly recommend this beautiful manor for anyone who appreciates history and likes a tranquil, friendly surounding. Ursula from the Netherlands
Although our stay was very brief, we found Almondy Inn very homely and our hosts, Evelyne and Herber most welcoming and helpful. Their restaurant recommendation was great, I don't think we would have stumbled on it due to it's location upstairs. Almondy Inn is very conveniently located, an easy stroll to shops and restaurants, it is very clean and has comfortable beds (except the bedpost is in the way of the television screen). Great place to stay.
We recently stayed at Cooney Cottage for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The rooms were nice and clean and airy. We slept so well. Breakfast was lovely and beautifully set for us every morning. The innkeeper was gracious and helpful, but sensitive to give us plenty of space. We felt like it was our home away from home. We especially liked how quiet the area is though it's only a 15 minute walk to the docks. My wife and I certainly look forward to coming back next year.
The location of this Inn is perfect! So close to shopping and restaurants. Service was fast and friendly. Worth every penny. We skipped the breakfast as we were looking for something more than expanded continental. Loved it!!!
My fiancé and I rented a room at Cooney Cottage and LOVED it. Our room was so charming. It was much more spacious than other Bed & Breakfast's that I've used in Newport. The whole space was clean and lovely, service was immaculate, and the continental breakfast felt like a treat (Were those muffins home made? Delicious!). Thank you Cooney Cottage!!
I have had nothing but excellent experiences with the entire Newport Blues Inn company. The rooms are spotlessly clean but comfortable and homey, bathrooms are modern and updated, the common areas are super cute and comfortable, and breakfast is delicious and creative. From check-in to check-out, each person I encountered was friendly, helpful, and an absolute pleasure. I wouldn't stay anywhere else while in town.
