    Innkeeper stays at Flophouse

    Friends were graduating from Columbia University and I wanted to be there. Because I'm an innkeeper, I wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast, near by, inexpensive, safe (I'm a middle aged single woman traveling alone). I was delighted to find the Harlem Flophouse. My room was on the second floor. I slept comfortably with the windows open. It was quiet outside as well as inside. My car stayed on the street out front for two nights and the next day. No problems. If you are looking for luxury accommodations with all the amenities - this is not the place for you. But if you are like me and just want a comfortable, clean, safe place to crash and get cleaned up - I recommend this one. I will definitely stay again. P.S. Dining met my expectations...The website said there was no breakfast and that is what I expected.

    The icing on the cake

    I've stayed with my husband in the Cosy Joe room at the Flophouse. It was gorgeous! The attention to detail everywhere in the house is outstanding. I loved when we would come back (home) there would be sound of soft jazz playing on the radio. Sooo nice! So relaxing. So like at home. But even better. It was difficult to leave it and I look forward to going back to it.

    My favorite place in New York City

    I often travel to New York City for concert gigs and have stayed in a variety of hotels but the Harlem Flophouse is my favorite. It is off the beaten path but easily accessible to major attractions. It is quiet, eccentric and supremely beautiful. The rooms are large and elegant. Rene is a great host and a world traveler. I highly recommend it.
