Very Nice Place to Stay
en julio 08, 2015
We went for 4th of July weekend to hike. Location is perfect for various submits & ADK Loj hiking. Close to restaurants for dinner. Room was very nice, clean. Kids loved the sleeping porch. Breakfast and evening cookies were very very good. Breakfasts are high on the sugary carbs rather than protein. If this is an issue, maybe put in a dietary request.

Always nice to hear from our guests. We do put out home made cookies for the guests every evening and we do vary our breakfast menu from an egg dish one morning served with homemade sausage, pork, turkey or vegetarian, and a bread based dish the next morning served with bacon. In addition Susan makes home made scones or muffins each morning.
A wonderful place to relax

Booking from England, we hadn't realised that the time of our visit would be a few weeks short of the start of the season and for the first two days of our stay we were the only guests. But despite that, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home by Susan and Dave. So much so that when more guests arrived we almost felt they were intruding on our home! This place is beautiful - very typical of the local architecture with beautiful wooden features throughout - and simply perfect for getting away from it all. You can't help but relax - especially on one of the comfy seats on the porch. We had a lovely ensuite room (Allen) with a sleeping porch (giving us the option of somewhere cooler to sleep had the weather been much warmer) and were extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were superb and we were offered a full choice, even though we were the only ones dining. I'd like to think that we might return here some day.
Terrible Weather, Incredible Inn & Staff
en abril 24, 2015
Stayed for four days in early April, when the Adirondacks are slightly bereft of activity. The hiking trails are still too snowed/iced over to be pleasantly passable, and other summer activities (biking, canoeing, etc) have not yet started. At the same time, it's a bit late for skiing.
All that said, the Trails End Inn made our vacation absolutely delightful because of their kind, welcoming staff and lovely accommodations. We ordered the cheese and cider platter, which was definitely worth it; it kept us fed between meals, and was full of delicious cheeses and accompaniments. In the way of real meals, there is a small, but well stocked kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, and plenty of coffee/tea/hot chocolate. This made it easy for us to cook for ourselves when the desire struck. As an added bonus, the staff always has a platter of fresh cookies, muffins, or something similarly fantastic, set out in the lobby around mid-day.
Staff service was very responsive; they took care of issues we didn't quite know were issues. Fixing a shower leakage issue, adding more cheese to our platter, making sure the wood-burning stove was working properly, etc - all without prompting from us. On top of that, the staff was helpful in guiding our activities from biking to hiking. That said, they were anything but intrusive. Staff were always sensitive to when we did not want to be disturbed, and happily went on their way once they had been helpful.
The inn is located quite nicely, in terms of both accessibility, and activities. It's very easy to get to from the highway, but walking distance (or a 5 minute drive) to several nice hiking trails. The "civilization" of Lake Placid is also about a 20 minute drive away. There are several delightful restaurants within walking distance, but be wary of their status in early April... call to make sure they are open!
What a find!

Truly relax at the Trail's End Inn. The gracious hosts afford you privacy if that's what you want or information and guidance regarding the area. The meals were superb and the hosts were very accommodating with homemade cookies on the table to welcome you back from your day! They make you feel that they care!

Came here after a night camping in the Adirondacks. It felt like going to grandma's house. There were warm cookies and muffins waiting for us, bottomless Kurig Coffee, and a nice warm room. They'd gone the extra step to make sure our room was nice and warm when we got there, the heat was all the way up, the bed was cozy...it was simply amazing.
Trail's End Inn, Jay Room

have stayed at this inn many times but never in jay room. large, beautiful, comfortable room with private bathroom. staff are invisible except if you need them. breakfasts are tasty, homemade, and enormous, good for the cross country, hiking, etc crowds for sure. surroundings pretty at all times of year. this time, lots of birds showing up at feeders, and a deer family made a very picturesque appearance, mama and two young ones grazing in the distance. always good to be here, anita

My Home away from my Home in Canada
en marzo 07, 2015
We have been going to Trails End for quite a few years, even before the lovely people (Dave and Susan) began their adventure there. I have never found a place I feel more comfortable at, more at home, or more disappointed to leave than "the Green House" as my now 7 year old daughter calls it. I could not ask for a nicer stay, or nicer people to deal with, or a better experience. No matter where else we go to stay, we keep coming back, usually 4-5 times a year. As a family, we hope to continue to keep coming back for years to come. We have brought our elderly parents, my golfing buddies, sometimes even stopped to stay a night when coming back from somewhere further south, and everyone has said the same thing, we have to come back. Enough said. Please don't tell anyone else in Canada, we want to keep it a secret (kidding!).
