White Oak Bed and Breakfast

I found the White Oak B&B on website - proved to be a good choice. Close to Genesee Country Village where we had reservations for a special event evening. Arriving early in the afternoon, we had time to freshen up and walk through the Victorian home's well-kept gardens. We had a great night's rest and awakened to the aroma of "breakfast" cooking. The delicious meal was enjoyed in the multi-windowed dining room which offered a beautiful view of the lawns. We'll be back!

Barbara was as charming and genteel as her elegant town house and made us very welcome. We had the Garden Room which was furnished tastefully with antique furniture...what a magnificent wooden bedhead! The room and en suite were clean and comfortable and breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Barbara gave us information and ideas for visits in the area and was a very lovely host. We really enjoyed our brief stay here and would happily stay again.

We arrived for a one night stay and was welcomed with a beautiful historic home within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Our room had beautiful antiques and breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Lovely historic home with beautifull furnishings. Barbara is a wonderfull hostess, knowledgable about the area. She also has a wonderfull collection of hand made items by herself that make great gifts for friends and even for yourself. We so enjoyed our stay at White Oak that we will drop in again when we are in the area. A great thing about at White Oak is that we were accepted for a one night stay. Many B&B's do not offer that option and that is where Barbara is great in catering to those travelers who are passing thru to a final destination where one night only is needed in their journey. This B&B is like going into your favorite grandma's home. It is warm and cozy. The innkeeper greets you with a smile and gently brings you to your room after a brief, but pleasant conversation. The breakfast is served in a large dining room with big picture windows on two sides. You are not rushed to finish either. It is a complete breakfast, not a continental one. Intend to use again if I am up that way again.

This is a great B&B. The innkeeper, Barbara Herman, provides superior service but is not overly intrusive. The room we stayed in, the Garden Room, was beautifully furnished, roomy and comfortable and a terrific value. The house overall is very elegant. It's close to Letchworth State Park where we did a great winter hike above the canyon. We'd also recommend Yard of Ale, a nice dinner spot that is 15 minutes away.

Besides the loveliness of this bed and breakfast, the welcoming atmosphere is what will bring you back. We felt as if we had known Barbara before and were returning to visit a good friend. Her breakfasts were delicious, and she made sure we were introduced to the other guests as soon as we walked into the dining room. The breakfast room looks out through rows of windows and a lovely view! The White Oak Bed and Breakfast is an affordable and beautiful place to stay.

My family and I stayed at White Oak this Summer. We hadn't planned on staying in the area, but decided to try finding an Inn so we could spend more time. Ms. Herman welcomed us into her home, which was a bit confusing for my young children, having never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before. But Ms. Herman made us all feel welcome and took the time to answer my young son's many questions! Her rooms were quite comfortable and the food yummy. We all enjoyed! We would definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

Barbara Herman is a cross between a mom and a good friend. She brought us wine glasses to the large front porch, kept our wine cold in her fridge, sent us off every evening to excellent restaurants, and greeted us with hot breakfasts. Barbara took the time to mail advance information of local events so that we could plan our visit , discussed what we would like to eat, kept the lovely large rooms clean, and was always available for advice . Grew up in Avon, but no family remains here. When I visited, I found a '2nd home' at the White Oak. Barbara is gracious and welcoming. The house is fantastic.

Stayed in the Pine Suite. Room very nice, pre-air conditioned for hot days. One complaint of fairly small bathtub with too touchy water temps. Hostess very friendly and helpful. Good breakfasts. Overall fairly good experience.

The inn keeper graciously greeted us upon our late arrival and cheerfully showed us to our room. The breakfast was perfect!

We have stayed at the White Oak twice now and were very happy both times. The house is charming and comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The property and surrounding neighborhood is beautiful as well. Breakfast was always delicious! We highly recommend it.

My husband & I had a relaxing, yet enjoyable time. Barb accepted us into her home on Christmas evening, which is amazing in itself. Her breakfasts were filling and her personality knowledgeable and pleasant. She was very helpful with anything we may have wanted and willing to talk, but not overly as some hosts can be. At times it felt like were were visiting a relative, since we were able to sip wine in a separate room while watching TV in our pajamas. The town of Avon is very attractive and close to some wineries. We just enjoyed driving and seeing the local area. I think a summer visit would be enjoyable, that way you can sit by the pond.

We stayed at the White Oak during Parents' Weekend at SUNY Geneseo. Our room was lovely and spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the flat-screen TV with cable on the second floor sitting area. Barbara was a gracious hostess, even accomodating us with plates, water, etc when we got takeout one evening for dinner. Will definitely return!

We've stayed at a number of B&B's and The White Oak is one of the best! Our room (the blue room) was spacious, uncluttered and with two comfortable reading chairs--perfect for us. The breakfasts were delicious and our lovely hostess very gracious. We're spoiled!

We have been so spoiled and pampered for the past few days that we did not want to leave! Barbara is an amazing woman and a warm, caring hostess. The breakfasts were scrumptious and the vintage old home with its antiques was beautiful! We were transported back to an era of gracious, relaxed living. Thanks, Barbara, for a fabulous four days!

Traveling by myself to visit family and worried that the family is no longer capable to comfortably accommodate me, I decided to stay in a bed and breakfast. The White B&B looked good on the web, and my first telephone conversation with Barbara Herman started off on a high note. The Inn was all that I hoped for and more. The old home is beautifully restored, my room and bed were comfortable and quite, and Avon is a lovely historic village. Barbara offered just the right amount of attention to make me feel welcome but not overwhelmed. The food was delicious and the dining room fostered a number of enjoyable conversations among the guests. I have been to many B&Bs; this one is a real standout. I highly recommend it.

Our stay at the White Oak B&B was amazingly pleasant. Mrs. Herman provided just the right amount of attention. She recommended a fabulous local place for dinner and when we were talking about New Zealand, she produced an atlas to assist us. Our breakfast was delightful and delicious, complete with a fresh fruit cup. We stayed in the Garden Room with a beautiful and very comfortable carved bed. We hope to visit this B&B again. We highly recommend it. It's one of the best B&Bs we've been to in the U.S.A!

Our daughter was moving to Avon and we needed a place to stay for a few days while we waited for movers to arrive. Staying at this wonderful B&B was a great introduction to this town. Barbara is a very warm, caring individual and was an outstanding hostess. My husband had to miss breakfast the second morning of our stay as he had to get to the apartment to meet the movers. Barbara packed a large, delicious breakfast for us to bring to him. This was above and beyond the call of duty. She had hot coffee awaiting us as we awoke and had it ready at the time we had requested. She was alos considerate enough to ask when we wanted breakfast served! The food was wonderful and the home is in a beautiful setting. On Sunday morning, we sat on wicker funriture on the front porch, drinking hot coffee and reading the paper while a light rain fell. It was wonderful! She has a wealth of information about the town and nearby sites. There were also many books available for your reading pleasure. I highly recommend staying here.

The hospitality was outstanding and friendly. Sitting on the spacious front porch was so relaxing at the end of the day. We would definitely recommend a stay here. We also enjoyed the tree lined sidewalks on our walk into town where we could enjoy the park and local shops. People were so friendly!

Our hostess, Barbara, showed care and concern for our every need and answered every question about restaurants, church times and events going on in the area. The B&B is beautiful with 19c. charm and the setting is so natural and restful. Wow! We'll be back!

A wonderful place to stay! Barbara is a delightful innkeeper! Now I know why people love to stay at B&B's. It is much more relaxing and fun than a motel!!

We stay at the White Oak B&B when bringing our daughter to or taking her home from college. While her graduation was a joyous occasion, we will miss Barbara and her hospitality- lovely home and fabulous food.

Christmas Eve and there was room at the inn for Mary and Joseph. We stayed in the Epclaw room. An exceptional and beautiful house.

Stayed here the night of a big winter storm...it was, warm & cozy & comfortable. Our hostess was delightful and warm as well. Beautiful setting, beautiful Inn.
